Father & son who fled dictatorship in Iran sentenced to prison for assaulting police on Jan. 6

Credit: Department of Justice

A Virginia father and son who fled oppression in Iran three decades ago were sentenced Friday to years in federal prison for assaulting police during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Farhad Azari, 65, and his son Farbod “Francis” Azari, 33, pleaded guilty in January to two felony counts each of assaulting police with a dangerous weapon and civil disorder.

The men were identified to the FBI by at least two witnesses roughly a week after the riot – including one who reported seeing a text from the younger Azari about Jan. 6 claiming, “We are warriors, we did that” – and were arrested in early 2023.

As part of his plea, the elder Azari also admitted to joining the mob’s push against the police line on the west side of the Capitol and to throwing a water bottle, flagpole and air horn at officers. The elder Azari entered the Capitol twice, including during the first breach of the Senate Wing doors.

Prosecutors sought 57 months, or roughly 4.75 years, in prison for each Azari. In a sentencing memo filed last month, Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kyle McWaters and Taylor Fontan said the Azaris “chose to be extremely violent on January 6, 2021, seemingly without regret.”

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth sentenced Farhad to 30 months, or roughly 2.5 years, in prison and Farbod to 50 months, or a little more than four years. Lamberth, a Reagan nominee who has sentenced numerous Jan. 6 defendants to lengthy prison terms, said he was moved by the sentencing memos filed by the Azaris and decided to grant a rare downward departure for the elder defendant due to his age and health…..

Yemen’s Houthi rebels detain 11 UN staffers and others in sudden crackdown, officials say

(AP Photo/Osamah Abdulrahman)

Eleven Yemeni employees of United Nations agencies have been detained by Yemen’s Houthi rebels under unclear circumstances, authorities said Friday, as the rebels face increasing financial pressure and airstrikes from a U.S.-led coalition. Others working for aid groups also likely have been taken.

The detentions come as the Houthis, who seized Yemen’s capital nearly a decade ago and have been fighting a Saudi-led coalition since shortly after, have been targeting shipping throughout the Red Sea corridor over the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.

But while gaining more attention internationally, the secretive group has cracked down at dissent at home, including recently sentencing 44 people to death.

Regional officials, speaking to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to brief journalists, initially confirmed at least nine UN detentions. Those held include staff from the UN human rights agency, its development program, the World Food Program and one working for the office of its special envoy, the officials said. The wife of one of those held is also detained.

By Friday night, UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric in New York acknowledged 11 UN staffers had been taken….

Vindication: FBI Agent’s Security Clearance Reinstated After It Was Revoked for Sharing Revolver News January 6 Report with Colleagues

If the regime had its way completely, there would be no independent thought, no courage, and absolutely no deviation from the ever-evolving party line. Even our current censorious regime, as incompetent and corrupt as it is, recognizes that it needs to prioritize when it comes to suppressing dissenting views.

In fact, some versions of dissent might even be welcome insofar as they are not truly subversive and serve to distract the public and channel its energies into false criticisms and issues that don’t really matter.

The regime reserves the full weight of its retaliatory fervor for thoughts and revelations that step outside of the safe playpen that usually constrains even conservative discourse.

Among these subversive and dangerous ideas, very few have stirred up the regime’s rage quite like those that challenge the regime’s absurd official view of January 6 as an insurrection.

Informed Americans who have read Revolver News’ ground-breaking reports on the matter know better (for a representative sample, see hereherehere, and here).

Ever since we began reporting on this sensitive issue, the full weight of the national media went into panic mode, trying to suppress anyone who challenged the Fedsurrection. The New York Times and Washington Post went into overdrive to demonize Revolver News; George Soros hired a full-time operative to demonetize us; and Ray Epps and his Democrat-associated lawyer have threatened Revolver and Tucker with lawsuits. We are, of course, not the only targets. Readers might recall the case of Jeremy Brown, the Green Beret, who has faced extremely hostile persecution from Merrick Garland’s DOJ ever since he publicized a video of JTTF agents trying to recruit him as an informant leading up to January 6th.

When it comes to silencing those who question the January 6 narrative, the regime isn’t shy about going after their own. Approximately a year ago, we reported on the case of FBI agent and whistleblower Marcus Allen, who had his security clearance revoked not even for questioning the January 6th narrative but for sharing articles that called that narrative into question……

Biden Apologizes to Zelenskyy, Blames Conservatives for Ukraine Aid Hold Up

(Saul Loeb/AFP via Getty Images)

U.S. President Joe Biden apologized to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a face-to-face meeting on Friday for delays in the passage of a $95 foreign aid bill this spring that included $61 billion in new Ukraine-related spending.

Sitting with his Ukrainian counterpart in Paris, President Biden praised Ukrainian forces for continuing to fight more than two years after Russian troops invaded.

“You haven’t bowed down, you haven’t yielded at all, you continue to fight in a way that is just remarkable, just remarkable, and we’re not going to walk away from you,” President Biden said.

The U.S. president said funding for Ukraine has proven politically divisive within the United States and has delayed the support he has sought to provid

President Biden said. “Some of our very conservative members were holding it up. But we got it done finally.”

Even before passing the most recent foreign aid package, the United States had provided $113 billion in military, humanitarian, and financial support to Ukraine since 2022….

Johnson Appoints Republicans to Fill Vacancies on Powerful Intel Committee

(Madalina Vasiliu/The Epoch Times)

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has filled two vacancies on the powerful House Intelligence Committee with Republican members who fall toward the right of their caucus.

In separate statements posted to their websites, Reps. Scott Perry (R-Pa.) and Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) announced they would be joining the secretive panel.

The appointments were made to fill vacancies left by the departure from Congress of Reps. Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) and Chris Stewart (R-Utah).

Membership on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence grants lawmakers higher security clearance and access to more information than is available to most rank-and-file members.

Due to the sensitive nature of the material that the committee handles, many of its proceedings go on behind closed doors and out of the public eye.

Traditionally, the panel has been highly bipartisan, manned largely by centrists from each party, and representing a huge political prize for those few chosen to sit on the panel.

However, in the latter half of the 2010s, both parties turned it toward more partisan uses, particularly during the Trump administration….

Soros prosecutors take massive ‘L’ in Charlottesville tiki torch lawfare trial…

The left has weaponized our judicial system, turning it into a mockery and a tool to punish political enemies, reminiscent of regimes in North Korea or Iran.

We’ve squandered any moral high ground we once held by joining the “bad guys” of the world in targeting and imprisoning right-wing dissidents.

Everywhere you turn, another sham trial is unfolding. We’ve all seen what these tyrants did to the January 6 political prisoners, President Trump, Mark Steyn, Alex Jones, Peter Navarro, Steve Bannon, Douglass Mackey, and countless others.

But the hits just keep on coming. In what can only be described as one of the flimsiest cases to ever grace a US courtroom—and that’s saying a lot given recent lawfare trends—regime prosecutors expected a jury to convict an American citizen simply for carrying a tiki torch at the 2017 Unite the Right rally.

They argued that Jacob Joseph Dix committed a state felony by burning the tiki torch, claiming it “intimidated” others. This man was criminally charged simply for carrying a lit tiki torch and appearing “intimidating,” a totally subjective accusation that could apply to every BLM rioter out there.

We’re expected to believe that three months of rioting resulting in over twenty deaths wasn’t intimidating, yet somehow a guy walking around with a tiki torch is.

Needless to say, even in the deeply liberal jurisdiction of Charlottesville, VA, a jury saw through these sham charges and refused to convict…..

EU Elections: Big Gains for Dutch Populist Wilders, Pro-Farmer Party Wins First Seats in EU Parliament

(Photo by Ludovic MARIN / POOL / AFP)

Dutch populist leader Geert Wilders declared his Party for Freedom was the “biggest winner” in the country’s EU Parliament elections on Thursday as exit polls predict massive gains for the anti-mass migration party.

The Party for Freedom (PVV) built upon its recent domestic success on Thursday, with exit polls predicting that the populist party will secure at least seven seats in the next European Parliament after winning zero seats in the 2019 EU elections.

According to the initial estimates from Ipsos on behalf of public broadcaster NOS, this marked the largest gains for any Dutch party and the largest total for PVV in its history.

However, while the PVV was the big winner of the evening, celebrations were somewhat muted as the exit polls predicted that the alliance between the Green Left and the Labour Party (GroenLinks-PvdA) of Green Deal architect Frans Timmermans would come out on top with 8 seats.

However, this is one fewer than the previously separate parties secured in 2019 and Wilders noted that it is still possible for his party to gain an extra seat after official results are revealed…,

Biden’s Afghanistan: Taliban Holds Mass Flogging Event for Crimes of ‘Fleeing from Home,’ ‘Disrespect’

Photo by -/AFP via Getty Images

The Taliban, the uncontested government of Afghanistan since 2021, used a stadium to stage a mass punishment event for 63 people on Tuesday, administering public floggings for crimes ranging from “fleeing from home” to “adultery.”

Afghan outlets reported on the event, the latest in a series of increasingly common stadium punishment displays, and quoted locals who said they approved of public punishments under the Islamist rule of the Taliban terrorist organization.

The United Nations issued a condemnation of the floggings, describing its leadership as “deeply disturbed by the widespread, continued use of corporal punishment in Afghanistan”:

The Taliban became the de facto, but uncontested, government of the country again on August 15, 2021, after American President Joe Biden announced a decision to extend the 20-year Afghan War, breaking a deal brokered with the Taliban by his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.

The Taliban responded to the rupture of the agreement by swarming the country and toppling the U.S.-backed government in Kabul amid a chaotic and poorly managed U.S. withdrawal from the country…

Arizona Border Sector Migrant Arrests Jump for Third Straight Week as Biden Announces Immigration Executive Order

U.S. Border Patrol/Tucson Sector

Agents in the Arizona border sector apprehended nearly 8,000 migrants shortly before President Joe Biden announced his newest immigration executive order.

Tucson Sector Chief Patrol Agent John Modlin reported on social media that his agents apprehended 7,800 migrants during the week ending May 31. The following Wednesday, President Biden announced his executive order allegedly capping the number of daily migrant crossings.

The National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE) wrote in an analysis of the order, “Biden is about to officially legitimize crisis levels of illegal immigration through a variety of avenues (around 2 million a year) while gutting interior enforcement by refusing to arrest, detain, and deport illegal aliens in accordance with the law.”

Breitbart Texas reported, citing an unofficial Border Patrol chart, that during the month of May, Border Patrol agents apprehended nearly 118,000 migrants — more than 3,800 per day.

The May apprehensions were the third-lowest month for migrant arrests during the Biden era. During Fiscal Year 23, agents apprehended an average of more than 6,780 migrants per day. So far this fiscal year, agents apprehended approximately 6,715 migrants per day….

Police arrested a Mexican national on Texas’ Top 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Migrants List who was wanted for a parole violation on a murder charge. The arrest comes one day after Governor Greg Abbott announced the law enforcement tool on Wednesday.

Just over 24 hours since Governor @GregAbbott_TX launched Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List, DPS announces [the] arrest of Servando Trejo Duran Jr., 62, who was just taken into custody this afternoon in Baytown,” Texas Department of Public Safety officials posted on social media.

DPS special agents and troopers assigned to the Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center in Houston teamed up with Baytown police officers to bring 62-year-old Servando Trejo Duran, Jr. into custody. Following his arrest in Baytown, officers booked the criminal Mexican national illegal immigrant into the Chambers County Jail.

Illegal Alien Charged with Raping Disabled Person Was Freed into U.S. by Biden’s DHS

ICE

Rigberto Hoyos-Alban, a 33-year-old illegal alien from Colombia, first crossed the U.S.-Mexico border near Rio Grande Valley, Texas, in November 2023. He was given a Notice to Appear (NTA) before a federal immigration judge and released into the U.S. interior.

In March, Hoyos-Alban was arrested by the Central Falls Police Department in Rhode Island and charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, and one count of felony assault on a person mentally impaired.

Following his arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents lodged a detainer against Hoyos-Alban, requesting custody of him if he was released at any time by the Rhode Island Adult Correctional Institute.

Jail officials did not honor the ICE detainer and released Hoyos-Alban instead. Subsequently, ICE agents arrested Hoyos-Alban in Cranston, Rhode Island, on May 22.

VIDEO — Report: Illegal Aliens March Through Times Square Chanting ‘Abolish ICE!’

Video footage shared online Thursday shows a sea of people walking through the area in the middle of the street. As the group marches, the chant of “Abolish ICE! Abolish ICE!” rings out before the crowd erupts in cheers:

Several individuals in front of the group are seen carrying large banners. One reads, “Arriba [Up with] Las Vegas Worker Center.” According to the center’s website, it is “a grassroots organization that unites day laborers, domestic workers, and other low-wage and migrant workers to defend their rights, fight for dignity and win justice for all.”

The other banner reads “DALE – Accept Our Labor? Respect Our Rights!” That banner apparently refers to a group called Desde Abajo [From Below] Labor Enforcement (DALE) on the National Day Laborer Organizing Network (NDLON) website.

Migrant surge driving hotel prices to record highs in sanctuary city: report

(J. Conrad Williams, Jr./Newsday RM via Getty Images)

The New York Times, citing data from CoStar, reported that the average daily rate for a hotel stay in NYC increased to $301.61 in 2023, up 8.5% from $277.92 in 2022.

More recently, in the first three months of 2024, the average stay was $230.79 a night, up from $216.38 in the same period last year.

The price hikes come amid a historic migrant crisis both at the southern border and in the Big Apple, where the city has seen nearly 200,000 migrants arrive since 2022, with tens of thousands remaining in the shelter system.

As part of that, about 135 of the 680 hotels have entered the program, with hotels being paid up to $185 a night, according to the Times.

Many of those hotels are in popular parts of the city for tourists, including by the JFK International Airport or the Midtown Manhattan area….

Virginia woman wanted for ‘heinous’ triple homicide arrested after high-speed police chase in NY

( The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office)

A Virginia woman wanted for the triple homicide of three of her roommates was captured in New York on Thursday after a high-speed police chase, according to police.

Alyssa Jane Venable, 23, was on the run following the deaths of two men and a woman at their Spotsylvania County home Tuesday. The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office says all three were found with blunt-force trauma injuries, describing the crimes as “heinous.”

Venable was captured on I-86 in Steuben County by the U.S. Marshals Service and New York State Police after she refused to stop for law enforcement, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Police were able to nab Venable by deploying a tire deflation device which caused her vehicle to crash and allowed police to apprehend her. She was taken to a local hospital as a precaution. Homicide detectives had warned the public that Venable was considered armed and dangerous….

Gavin Newsom Proposes Cuts to Justice, Corrections as Budget Crisis Looms

Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has proposed cuts to the state’s Department of Justice and Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation as the state faces a massive deficit — after enjoying a massive $100 billion surplus.

Fox News reported Thursday:

Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., proposed slashing budgets regarding public safety, such as prisons and law enforcement, as the state simultaneously grapples with a crippling deficit and doubles down on climate goals relating to equity.

The California Democrat’s proposed budget, released in May, notes that “difficult decisions” are necessary to address the estimated $27.6 billion deficit, which is projected to continue for years to come. It includes a $97 million cut to trial court operations, $10 million to the Department of Justice’s Division of Law Enforcement and more than $80 million to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Newsom’s office pushed back against Fox News, saying that there were no cuts to law enforcement, but “an official from the Department of Finance acknowledged a 1.6% reduction in the state’s Department of Justice’s overall proposed budget.”…

The Greater Memphis Chamber revealed the southwestern Tennessee city had landed the planned project on Wednesday, saying it will be the “largest capital investment by a new-to-market company in Memphis history.” The supercomputer will be called the “Gigafactory of Compute,” the group said.

Musk said it’s “true” in a reply to an X post that contained footage of the Greater Memphis Chamber’s press conference announcing plans for Memphis to get the supercomputer.

The Memphis and Shelby County Economic Development Growth Engine, Tennessee Valley Authority and others must still sign off on the project, according to the Greater Memphis Chamber.

The AI firm “expects to create high quality jobs upon completion of Phase 1, with opportunities for more substantial investment in future phases,” the nonprofit group said.

Attorney General Merrick Garland Will Defy GOP Congressional Subpoenas

ALLISON BAILEY/Middle East Images/AFP via Getty Images

Garland’s statement came after Republican leaders in Congress threatened to hold him in contempt “in their efforts to gain access to audio recordings from special counsel Robert K. Hur’s investigation into President Biden’s handling of classified materials,” according to the Washington Post.

Garland reportedly requested for the president to claim executive privilege on the recordings, fearing that “releasing them could harm future efforts to get officials to cooperate with investigations and sit for taped interviews,” per the Post.

Speaking before the House Judiciary Committee this week, Garland accused Republicans of “seeking contempt as a means of obtaining — for no legitimate purpose — sensitive law enforcement information that could harm the integrity of future investigations. This effort is only the most recent in a long line of attacks on the Justice Department’s work.”

Republicans shot back and accused Garland of weaponizing the Department of Justice, citing the recent indictments of former President Trump and his recent conviction by a Manhattan jury on 34 felony counts.

Celebrity Trainer Jillian Michaels: ‘How Is Trump Going to Jail, but Fauci Isn’t?’

Paul Archuleta/Getty

The celebrity trainer’s lament likely came in response to Fauci’s recent testimony on Capitol Hill in which he admitted some of the coronavirus restrictions, like mask mandates and social distancing, were not entirely based on science.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who has been a Fauci critic since the height of the coronavirus outbreak, has previously suggested Fauci should go to prison.

“For his dishonesty, frankly, he should go to prison,” Paul said in January. “If you lie to Congress, and you’re dishonest, and you won’t accept responsibility. For his mistake in judgment, he should just be pilloried. He should never be accepted.”

“History should judge him as a deficient person who made one of the worst decisions in public health history — in the entire history of the world,” he added.

Jillian Michael’s post became a lightning rod of controversy.

“Trump’s a criminal and a con man who played on morons – like you,” responded Keith Olbermann….

DOJ charges Texas doctor after he blew the whistle on gender-affirming care for minors

Screenshot/X/Photo by STEFANI REYNOLDS/AFP via Getty Images

The Department of Justice filed criminal charges against a whistleblower after he exposed a Texas hospital that was allegedly secretly conducting gender-affirming care on minors.

Dr. Eithan Haim, a surgeon who completed his residency at the Texas Children’s Hospital, was accused of HIPAA violations and has been indicted on four felony charges. Haim has vowed to fight the charges and suggested the DOJ is corrupt.

“They wanted to intimidate me into silence using every technique the federal leviathan had at their disposal. But they failed,” Haim wrote Thursday on X. “The only way to lose is to submit to corruption. It’s time to fight back harder than ever!”

Haim leaked documents to journalist Christopher Rufo in May 2023 showing that the Texas Children’s Hospital continued operating its child gender clinic against state law after they claimed it had been shut down.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton released an opinion in February 2022 that stated gender-affirming care for kids could be a form of child abuse under state law. The following month, Texas Children’s Hospital issued a statement saying it would stop all treatments and surgeries on children related to transgenderism.

In a piece published in the City Journal, Haim claimed that three days after the announcement, a surgeon implanted a hormone device in an 11-year-old girl who was experiencing gender dysphoria.

Haim said that over the next year, the frequency of these procedures increased….

Covenant Killer Audrey Hale Used Federal Pell Grant Funds to Buy Guns She Used in March 2023 Mass Shooting at Christian School

99.7 WTN afternoon radio host Brian Wilson reported Wednesday that Hale “took money from an education grant she received to purchase her weapons and to pay for training at a local gun range.”

Hale purchased seven guns, three of which were recovered from the Covenant School after she died during an encounter with Metro Nashville Police Department officers, police said at the time in a post to X. She killed six people, including three children.

The Tennessee Star emailed MNPD to ask if it would provide information regarding the make and model of the guns Hale owned, where they were purchased, and what they cost. MNPD declined to answer, saying that “materials included in the open investigative file are protected.”

However, a source provided The Star with a list of Hale’s weapons and other items recovered at the scene of the crime. Below is the list accompanied by approximate prices of each weapon and accessory:

A new study finds that covid injections cause tinnitus

Researchers from the United States analysed results from a survey and reports to the Vaccine Adverse Effect Reporting System (“VAERS”).  The aim was to establish if there was a causal link to covid “vaccines” and if there were any factors that might increase the risk of tinnitus post-vaccination.

They found that covid vaccination does increase the risk of developing tinnitus. And metabolic disorders are a risk factor for covid vaccination-related tinnitus.

The researchers noted that symptoms of tinnitus started soon after receiving a covid injection, the frequency of cases was higher after the first dose and more women suffered from vaccine-induced tinnitus than men.  The difference in the number of cases between women and men increased with age.

There’s a new paper on the loose that supports what many of us have been stating as fact for years: tinnitus is caused by the covid-19 injections.

The paper was published in Frontiers in Pharmacology on 22 May 2024 and is entitled ‘Covid-19 vaccination-related tinnitus is associated with pre-vaccination metabolic disorders’.1 The paper demonstrates a causal link between tinnitus and covid-19 injections using a survey on 398 cases of covid-19 injection-related tinnitus, and 699,839 covid-19 injection-related reports in the VAERS from 2021.

They found 7 main things:
