New Twitter Files show how US govt used witless ‘disinformation’ journalists to force Twitter to blacklist users
In a new batch of Twitter Files released on Thursday, Taibbi said that the taxpayer-funded Global Engagement Center, whose mission is to “coordinate US Federal Government efforts” to tackle “disinformation,” was actually helping snuff out users that belonged to “state-sponsored blacklists.”
Taibbi shows evidence that the GEC sent Twitter various reports on several topics that used a guilt-by-association, or “ecosystem” concept.
The GEC report on France “attributes membership in the yellow vest movement as being Russia-aligned,” Twitter’s Aaron Rodericks described.
GEC’s report on China was “more entertainment value than anything,” said Rodericks. “It equates anything pro-China, but also anything against China in Italy, as part of Russia’s strategy.”
Taibbi revealed how the GEC would send journalists these blacklists, which would then give the journalist a reason to go to Twitter’s door and “demand to know why this or that ‘ecosystem’ isn’t obliterated.”

Norfolk Southern Will Pay For East Palestine Students’ College Education
Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw announced Thursday he will fund scholarships for East Palestine, Ohio, students to attend post-secondary education, a Norfolk Southern spokesperson confirmed to the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The scholarship will cover four years at a college or university or a two year vocational school, the spokesperson said. Shaw will use his pre-scheduled stock sale worth $445,000 to pay for the scholarships, 21 WFMJ.
Norfolk Southern previously pledged to reimburse East Palestine City School District $300,000 “to support the district’s academics, athletics, extra-curricular activities, and its long-term contingency planning regarding the impacts of the derailment,” according to a Feb. 24 press release. The district’s high school, middle school and elementary school each received $100,000 from the company.

“So, how do you explain this disparity by reference to anything other than politicization of what’s happening there?” he pressed.
Not only did Garland concede that Lee is correct, but he offered an incredible excuse for the discrepancy.
Report: Top FBI Officials Opposed Mar-a-Lago Raid
Some high-ranking FBI officials objected to the Justice Department’s raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence, according to a report from The Washington Post.
The Post reported that while several top-ranking government officials supported a raid on the property, including counterintelligence chief Jay Bratt and Assistant Attorney General Matt Olsen, multiple FBI officials objected about a week before the raid in what the newspaper described as a “tense showdown.”
FBI Washington field office head Steven M. D’Antuono reportedly objected to the raid, which he considered unnecessary and excessive.
The Post reported that he refused to conduct the raid unless directly ordered, and that he wanted to contact Trump’s attorney, a former Justice Department prosecutor, to set up a search of the premises. D’Antuono is quoted as saying during the discussion, “We are not the presidential records police.”

Those numbers, according to the watchdog group’s January audit that was shared first with Fox News Digital, have risen 1,200%. A total of 49 schools carry a combined 606 copies of works that were authored or contributed to by Wing.
As previously reported by Fox News Digital in November, Wing co-wrote “racial justice” children’s books that said White people must confess their privilege and were de facto hurting Black people by being benefactors of unearned advantages.
Andrzejewski said the watchdog’s findings revealed that Wing’s booksin the libraries within the Pentagon’s K through 12 schools “promote discredited public policy like defunding the police,” as well as “Marxist frames, critical race theory frames and radical ideologies.”
College Park, Maryland, Democratic mayor arrested on child pornography charges
Wojahn, 47, was arrested on 40 counts of possession of child exploitative material and 16 counts of distribution of child exploitative material and is being held at the Department of Corrections, per Prince George’s County Police.
Police said they were notified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a social media account was distributing child pornography, which had been uploaded in January 2023. Authorities said they tracked the accounts back to Wojahn and that they executed a search on his residence on Tuesday.
Investigators recovered “multiple cell phones, a storage device, a tablet and a computer” during the Tuesday search and arrested Wojahn early Thursday.
California city nearly eliminates homeless population with zero-tolerance policy on encampments
Coronado Mayor Richard Bailey (R) said there are no vagrants in his city at all, and he joined “Fox & Friends First” to describe how he has reinforced a no-encampment policy while still upholding the rule of law.
Bailey explained that the city works with the police department and a homeless service provider to give the homeless only one option — to get the help they need.
Coronado funds “reasonable” services to help those struggling get “back on their feet,” but noted the city also has a no-tolerance policy for violating municipal codes.
California allocated $10 billion to curb the homeless crisis from 2018 to 2012.
Despite the massive government spending dedicated to alleviating the crisis, the Golden State still has 30% of the entire country’s homeless population.

On Thursday, railway workers’ associations held a 24-hour strike, bringing the country’s national rail services as well as the subway in Athens to a grinding halt.
The Greek Railroad Workers Union called the strike to protest what it said was chronic neglect of Greece’s railways by successive governments.

The delay, which pushes the vote back by two weeks to the parliamentary session beginning March 20, comes as Hungary remains the only NATO member country besides Turkey that hasn’t yet approved the two Nordic countries’ bids to join the Western military alliance.
Hungary’s populist prime minister, Viktor Orban, has said that he is personally in favor of the two countries joining NATO, but alleges that the governments in Stockholm and Helsinki have “spread blatant lies” about Hungary which have raised questions among lawmakers in his party on whether to approve the bids.
In a radio interview on Feb. 24, Orban confirmed that Hungary would send a parliamentary delegation to Sweden and Finland to seek “clarification” on such issues before the ratification could come to a vote in parliament.
Russia and West spar as G-20 communique remains elusive for India
Many had been expecting fireworks as the meeting brought Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov into the same room with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and other critics of the Ukraine war.

Ukraine war: Russia’s troop death toll ‘passes 150,000’
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Thursday that 715 Russian soldiers had been killed since Wednesday’s count, taking the total to 150,605.
Its latest tally came as Moscow continued in its push to encircle Bakhmut, which Russia says would open the way to fully controlling the rest of the strategic Donbas industrial region bordering Russia, one of the main objectives of Putin’s invasion.
However, doing so has come at a cost. The months-long battle for the city has been compared to a First World War ‘meat grinder’, with Russia suffering tens of thousands of casualties while making only marginal gains in the region.
One military analysts said today Russia was sending in ‘human waves’, only for its soldiers to be carried off the battlefield ‘like a conveyor belt’.
Revealed: 23 Per Cent of German Population Now Migrants or Children of Migrants
It’s the first time the statistics office has analyzed the country’s population based on migration figures and not just on citizenship, which is a more vague concept since many immigrants – and especially the children of immigrants – have taken on German citizenship in recent years.
When it comes to the 17.3 per cent who are first-generation immigrants, Germany ranks above the European Union average of 10.6 per cent, the German news agency dpa reported.
In addition, another 3.7 million, or 4.5 per cent of the population, have one parent who immigrated and one ethnic German parent.
The newly presented figures are from 2021 and therefore do not include the more than one million Ukrainians who came to Germany looking for shelter after Russia invaded their home country a year ago.
