Sickening footage shows a baby being given a vape to suck on as women laugh in the background.
Disturbing videos shared on social media show the 10-month-old boy spluttering after being handed the vape, which he puts in his mouth before coughing out the toxic vapor.
In one clip, a woman can be heard asking the baby, “want to try?”, before sticking the vape in his mouth.

Illinois mom of 3 found fatally shot, police raid home of estranged husband

The bullet-riddled body of Rebecca Bliefnick, 41, was discovered by a relative on Feb. 23 inside her home at 2528 Kentucky Road in Quincy, a city of about 40,000 people southwest of Chicago, WGEM reported.
The family member went to check on her after she failed to pick up her three children from St. Peter School, according to the Muddy River News.
On Wednesday, investigators descended on the home of her estranged husband, Tim Bliefnick, 39, at 1641 Hampshire St., where they served a search warrant and temporarily detained a person, KHQA reported.
Trans game developer launches first person shooter where players kill anti-trans villains, including priests
Called “Terfenstein 3D,” the game is based on the classic Nazi-fighting game “Wolfenstein 3D,” one of the earliest first-person-shooters. “Wolfenstein” involved the main character navigating Nazi bases and taking out the villainous occupants with a wide array of deadly weapons.
The fact that “Terfenstein 3D” is based on a Nazi shoot ‘em up is no accident. Developer Sandra Moen, a trans person, intended to equate her games’ villains to Wolfenstein’s Nazis and allow the player the experience of eviscerating them onscreen.
Moen admitted the game was meant to “draw a comparison between gender critics and Nazi Germany.”

‘No family is immune’: As Congress debates fentanyl, mothers share their grief at hearings
The fentanyl trafficking supply chain is so dangerous it has created the leading cause of death in Americans ages 18 to 45.
More than 70,000 people died of a fentanyl overdose in 2021, according to the most recent federal data available. That’s more than double the amount in 2019 and a large share of the nearly 107,000 drug overdose deaths in 2021.
“It is the deadliest drug threat our country has ever faced,” Drug Enforcement Agency Administrator Anne Milgram said in a Senate hearing Feb. 15. “Fentanyl is everywhere. From large metropolitan areas to rural America, no community is safe from this poison.”
While Democrats and Republicans in the Senate debate the politics of the issue, grieving mothers have been the face of this crisis.

National teachers’ union boss Randi Weingarten channeled Howard Dean in a maniacal speech on the steps of the Supreme Court on Tuesday that went viral among critics who labeled it a “meltdown.”
Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers, had co-sponsored a protest against challenges to President Biden’s student debt relief plan brought by six GOP-led states and two applicants who sued because they would not be eligible for full reimbursement under the plan.
The union boss of some 1.7 million education workers drew the ire of Twitter when she punctuated her angry speech to hundreds of demonstrators with a series of wild body movements and frantic pointing gestures.
Researchers use AI to flag “misinformation” in podcasts, call for tech companies and regulators to “meet this challenge”
The Brookings Institution appears to be taking not only podcasting, but also “the war on podcasting” very seriously indeed.
A huge write-up (presented as the result of a research) published on the organization’s website this February, accuses some podcasters, especially those labeled as “political,” of spreading disinformation pretty much unchecked.
In order to find “misinformation” in podcasts and determine its scope, the authors say they turned to “AI” and at the same time issued a call to tech companies and regulators to “meet this challenge” – one of “greater transparency across the board – in terms of content moderation practices, financial disclosures, and algorithmic amplification by podcasting apps.”
And the question the article seems to want to answer is, how to stop this – i.e., take over what appears to be one of the last online media fairly resistant to censorship that is now the mainstay on social platforms.
The “trouble” with podcasts and the difficulty in controlling the media and getting it to, as a whole, toe any particular political or ideological line, is the technology that powers it.

The force of the crash was reportedly so catastrophic, two of the carriages no longer exist as 85 people have sustained various levels of injury.
Putin’s ally Lukashenko, Xi hold talks, appeal for ceasefire, dialogue to end Ukraine war
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin met Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is on a visit to the European country, and lent his full support to Beijing’s recently proposed “peace” initiative amid the Ukraine war.
During a meeting between the leaders on Wednesday, Lukashenko told Xi, “Belarus has been actively proposing peace and fully supports your initiative on international security.”
The meeting between Lukashenko and Xi led to a joint call by them for a cease-fire and negotiations to bring about a political settlement to the Ukraine conflict.

The Ukrainian military might decide to pull troops back from the key stronghold of Bakhmut, an adviser to Ukraine’s president said Wednesday as Russia pursued a bloody, months-long offensive to capture the city.
“Our military is obviously going to weigh all of the options. So far, they’ve held the city, but if need be, they will strategically pull back,” Alexander Rodnyansky, an economic adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, told CNN.
“We’re not going to sacrifice all of our people just for nothing.”

Putin ally wants to increase jail time for those who insult Russian army, Wagner Group
Vyacheslav Volodin, the chairman of the lower house of Russian parliament, the State Duma, is proposing amendments to censorship laws that would raise the maximum punishment for “discrediting” Russia’s armed forces from five to 15 years in prison, according to Reuters.
Russians can already be punished by their government with up to 15 years in prison for spreading what Moscow describes is knowingly false information about the military.
Around a week ago, a Russian journalist was handed a six-year sentence after a court found her guilty of “spreading false information about the Russian armed forces’ actions,” The Associated Press reported.

China threatens Elon Musk over COVID lab leak tweet
Musk tweeted on Sunday that the former top infectious disease official in the U.S., Anthony Fauci, funded gain-of-function research that created the virus at a Wuhan lab. Afterward, the Global Times, a newspaper run by the Chinese Communist Party, issued an ominous warning on Chinese social media.
Global Times condemned Musk for attacking China with so-called conspiracy theories in a post titled:
“Musk, are you smashing China’s pot?” according to a Google translation.
The phrase is roughly a Chinese version of “biting the hand that feeds you,” according to CNBC Beijing bureau chief Eunice Yoon.

Two foreign nationals arrested after throwing man under train for refusing to give them a cigarette
The incident occurred at the central train station in Pforzheim, a town in southwestern Germany, where a 49-year-old man was standing on the platform.
The PZ News outlet reported how the victim was approached by two men, a 33-year-old Algerian and a 31-year-old Tunisian national, both of whom demanded a cigarette. When the man refused, he was assaulted by the two men and pushed from the station platform, falling under a waiting train.
As the victim attempted to climb back onto the platform, he was assaulted a second time by his attackers.

Almost all looters targeting German flood victims were foreigners, according to new data
The 2021 Ahr floods in Germany devastated the Rhineland-Palatinate region in North Rhine-Westphalia and killed 180 people. Despite the destruction, some saw the floods as an opportunity, with the ensuing chaos resulting in a wave of robberies and burglaries.
Now, nearly two years after the event, it turns out that of the 275 alleged perpetrators, 196 were foreigners. In many cases, the government simply decided to not deport these perpetrators due to legal obstacles.
The information has only come to light due to a series of questions submitted by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party to the North Rhine-Westphalia government.

Sen. Chuck Grassley interrogated Attorney General Merrick Garland over the Hunter Biden investigation Wednesday, revealing for the first time that “over a dozen sources” had tipped off the FBI and Justice Department to potential criminal activity by the first son.
“Recent lawfully protected whistleblower disclosures to my office indicate that the Justice Department and FBI had — at one time — over a dozen sources that provided potentially criminal information relating to Hunter Biden.” Grassley (R-Iowa), 89, told Garland during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.
“The alleged volume and similarity of information would demand that the Justice Department investigate the truth and accuracy of the information.”
“Accordingly, what steps has the Justice Department taken to determine the truth and accuracy of the information provided?” Grassley asked. “Congress and the American people have a right to know.”
Finnish parliament overwhelmingly gives early greenlight to NATO entry
The legislation was approved as lawmakers affirmed that the nation has accepted the terms of the NATO Treaty by 184 votes against seven in the 200-seat parliament. One abstained.
Finnish lawmakers have pushed for the legislation to be passed before the general elections on April 2 to avoid a political vacuum. Notably, the process of joining NATO requires ratification from all of its 30 members.
Passing the bill does not mean that Finland will automatically join NATO after ratification by Turkey and Hungary, but it puts in place a deadline for how long it can wait for its neighbour.
Biden extends ‘national emergency’ due to ‘extraordinary threat’ Russia’s actions against Ukraine pose to US
President Joe Biden issued a continuation Wednesday of a previous executive order that declared a “national emergency” in the U.S. related to the year-long conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Executive Order 13660 was initially signed by former President Barack Obama in 2014 after Russia’s annexation of Crimea from Ukraine, but it was expanded over the years with additional executive orders as the conflict between the two states intensified and culminated in the invasion launched by Russia last year.
The orders include certain sanctions related to Russia’s actions in Ukraine with respect to U.S. interests.
