NHL Player Who Declined Pride-Themed Warmup Tops Jersey Sales

Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov apparently won over a large number of hockey fans this week — and many more people who believe in the value of First Amendment rights.
Just days after some left-leaning media organizations tried to condemn the Russian-born Provorov, 26, for quietly sitting out a warmup skate that involved donning a gay pride-themed hockey sweater, due to his religious beliefs, his No. 9 jersey sold out online at the NHL Shop and Fanatics stores.
The term “sold out” applies to normal-sized jerseys for Provorov fans. There’s also an “Almost Gone!” warning for online consumers in search of an “Extra Small” No. 9 jersey.

Watch Live: Pro-Life Americans March for Life in First Year After Overturn of Roe v. Wade

This year marks the first march in a post-Roe v. Wade America, after the overturn of the infamous abortion decision over the summer.
In years past, participants would march to the Supreme Court building to voice their dismay about Roe, calling for its overturn.
However, due to its overturn, March for Life will now march to the Capitol building, as the focus has shifted from legal avenues to legislative ones.
The rally beforehand will feature speakers such as former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy, Bishop Michael Burbidge, and Reverend Franklin Graham, among others, as well as House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ).
Exclusive — Rep. Andrew Clyde, 88 House Republicans Propose Bill to Defund Biden’s Pro-Abortion Executive Orders

“As tens of thousands of proud pro-life Americans attend the March for Life in our nation’s capital today, I’m proud to stand for the sanctity of life by reintroducing legislation to block and defund President Biden’s pro-abortion executive orders,” Clyde told Breitbart News in a written statement. “At every turn, the Biden Administration has advanced the evils of abortion — subverting the will of the American people, circumventing the Constitution, and undermining the integrity of our nation’s highest court. Congress must take action to protect the precious unborn and prevent taxpayer dollars from funding the Left’s abhorrent abortion agenda.”
The Georgia conservative introduced the legislation on Friday, the day of the 2023 March for Life, in which pro-life activists will no longer march to the Supreme Court, but rather to Congress, where they will urge lawmakers to enact pro-life legislation.
Many conservative and pro-life groups, such as Heritage Action, Family Research Council, and Catholic Vote, support Clyde’s legislation.
The legislation aims to defund and block the implementation of many abortion executive orders Biden carried out in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling striking down Roe v. Wade.
US ‘cult’ leader handed 60 years in prison for sexual and emotional abuse

“It was sadism, pure and simple,” Judge Lewis Liman said in handing down the sentence, shortly after saying that Ray used his “evil genius” to torment his victims.
Authorities became aware of his criminal behavior following an explosive New York magazine feature.
During Ray’s four-week Manhattan federal court trial – during which he had several medical episodes – prosecutors laid out a chilling chronology of events that started when Ray moved into his daughter’s dorm room around late 2010.
Ray engaged in “therapy” sessions with some of her roommates under the false pretense of helping them navigate psychological issues.
Ray cast himself as a “father figure”, and several of the roommates moved into an apartment in Manhattan’s Upper East Side neighborhood the following summer. The one-bedroom flat devolved into a house of horrors, they said in their indictment against him.
Armed intruder breaks into home in middle of night. But resident — inside with his 10-year-old son — also has a gun and shoots intruder dead.

An armed, masked intruder broke into a home in eastern Iowa early Wednesday morning, but the resident — who was inside with his 10-year-old son — grabbed a gun and shot the intruder dead.
Police in Monticello said a man later identified as Patrick O’Brine — armed and wearing a mask — broke out a window and entered the basement of a home, the Associated Press reported.
A resident, who was home with his 10-year-old son, saw O’Brine and fired three shots at him, hitting him twice, the AP noted, adding that responding police found O’Brine dead in the home.
Court filings indicate that O’Brine used to live in the home in question with a longtime girlfriend who recently accused him of domestic abuse, KCRG reported.
Egg smuggling into the US increases, border authorities report amid soaring inflation

U.S. Customs and Border Protection recently announced a rise in egg smuggling into the country amid soaring poultry costs and inflation.
According to CBP’s reports, egg products and poultry seizures at the southern border were up 108% from October 1 to December 31 last year. The Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture noted that during that same period, the price of a dozen eggs increased from $3.50 to $5.30 due to an avian flu outbreak that forced farmers to put down 43 million chickens.
In December, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico saw the country’s most significant egg price hikes, with the cost of a dozen eggs increasing over 64%, Datasembly reported. Oregon, California, and Washington experienced an 18% increase during that same period.
T-Mobile says recently reported hack that got data from 37,000 customers began in late November

Mobile communications giant T-Mobile says the hack in which data was obtained from roughly 37,000 customers suggested the breach was perpetrated by a single entity and said the effort began as far back as November 2022.
The company said the hack occurred through a single application but is unclear whether one more people were involved, according to a Security and Exchange Commission report filed Thursday.
“The preliminary result from our investigation indicates that the bad actor(s) obtained data from this API for approximately 37 million current postpaid and prepaid customer accounts, though many of these accounts did not include the full data set,” the SEC filing states.
(REPORT) Govt. watchdogs getting paid illegally high salaries

Last year, a whistleblower disclosed to Empower Oversight that the inspectors general (IGs) of the National Security Agency (NSA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) had received salary payments in excess of the legal limits.
The whistleblower also disclosed that CIGIE’s Integrity Committee received a copy of the January 25th memorandum and shared it with CIGIE’s members—including the NSA-IG and the NRO-IG.
Yet the Integrity Committee, co-chaired by the NSA-IG, failed to open an inquiry into the overpayments.
To date DOD-OIG, CIGIE, and NSA have produced 154 pages of heavily redacted records. DOD-OIG produced 116 pages of redacted records, and Empower Oversight successfully appealed the adequacy of DOD-OIG’s records search and the legitimacy of its redactions.
CIGIE produced 38 pages of heavily redacted records, and NSA has produced nothing. DOD-OIG, CIGIE, and NSA claim to continue to process Empower Oversight’s requests.
Congress required IGs to be selected “solely on the basis of integrity and demonstrated ability in accounting, auditing, financial analysis, law, management analysis, public administration, or investigations” because of the special public trust required of the position. Further, it established CIGIE to “address integrity, economy, and effectiveness issues” among the IG’s offices.

‘Angry and bitter’ Michigan school board member claims ‘Whiteness is evil,’ faces backlash for divisive tweets

The tweets, shared by Libs of TikTok, show the Michigan school board member stating “These White women are the stupidest” and calling “Whiteness” an “evil”
“Whiteness is so evil.. it manipulates then says, I won’t apologize for my dishonesty and trauma inducing practices and thinks you should applaud it for being honest about its ability to manipulate and be dishonest. #Deceitful #Perfidous,” she said.
She also claimed that White people are more dangerous than animals.
“The last thing you have to worry about is an animal – though that could be a very real threat.. more dangerous are any whites you may see on the trail.. be safe!” she said in December.
The ‘Most Fatherless Generation’: California Pastor Describes the Consequences of a Growing Crisis

Moreover, 2022 data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows that out of an approximate 73,289,000 children aged under 18 years, roughly 18,397,000 are living either with their mother only or without either parent, amounting to slightly more than 25 percent.
The trend Vallotton described is illustrated by an article published by the D.C.-based Brookings Institution as far back as 1995 — co-authored by no other than current Secretary of Treasury and former Federal Reserve Chairman Janet Yellen and UC Berkeley professor George Akerlof.
The duo continued, “If we have learned any policy lesson well over the past 25 years, it is that for children living in single-parent homes, the odds of living in poverty are great. The policy implications of the increase in out-of-wedlock births are staggering.”
Vallotton showed that Yellen and Akerlof’s thesis was proven highly accurate 28 years later when he revealed to listeners that “63% of all youth suicides come from fatherless homes.”
“So you’re five times more likely to commit suicide if you don’t have a dad,” the pastor calculated.
CDC data, which is again recent only through 2020, shows that 45,979 Americans committed suicide in 2020, amounting to 13.96 percent of all U.S. deaths.
COVID Vaccines ‘Opened the Floodgates’ for New Wave of mRNA Vaccines for Livestock

Several new government- and industry-funded studies are underway to develop mRNA vaccines for livestock, part of the massive expansion of the animal vaccine industry projected to be worth $26.12 billion by 2030.
Researchers at Iowa State University are undertaking a project funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to develop mRNA vaccine technology to prevent bovine respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
Pharmaceutical company Zoetis developed an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine for animals that was administered to animals at zoos throughout the country.
And researchers in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service experimented with vaccinating captive-bred black-footed ferrets against COVID-19. They also experimented with social distancing and quarantine of ferrets.

Despite Roadblocks, Residents In Iran’s Zahedan Again Hold Anti-Government Protests

Anti-government protesters took to the streets after Friday Prayers in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan, despite attempts by security forces to ward off demonstrations by choking off the main roads leading through the city.
Molavi Abdulmajid, an adviser to Molavi Abdolhamid, a spiritual leader for Iran’s Sunni Muslim population, said in an interview with RFERL’s Radio Farda that military forces had set up checkpoints in the city on January 20 in “an attempt to create terror in the city after the appointment of the new commander of the country’s police force.”
Abdulmajid said the Islamic republic wants them to stop the demonstrations, which were sparked by the death of a young woman in September while in police custody in Tehran and exacerbated by a brutal crackdown, known as Bloody Friday, in Zahedan.
“Until the issue of Bloody Friday and the people of Zahedan who were killed and injured is resolved, this situation will continue,” Abdulmajid added.

Germany Blocks Tanks for Ukraine as Casualties Mount

Germany had promised the delivery of their Leopard 2 tank but have apparently reneged on those promises.
Ukrainian sources say other European nations that have Leopard 2’s in their militaries are also being blocked by Germany from sharing the critically needed armor.
This is not the first time Germany has reneged on its military promises in the wake of Russia’s unprovoked attack on Ukraine.
Shortly after the war began in February, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz vowed to raise his nation’s military spending, saying Berlin would increase expenditures to 2% of GDP, a benchmark for NATO nations.
Since then, Germany has taken no steps to increase it spending commitment and has delayed any new military expenditures until 2025 or later.

China’s future to AI and jobs: five big questions from Davos

A number of big themes emerged from the World Economic Forum in the Swiss resort Davos. Here are five of most pressing questions that came to dominate this year’s gathering of the global elite.
Vice-premier Liu He appeared on the main stage at Davos to assure foreign investors that after three years of Covid disruption, it was open for business. “We have to abandon the cold war mentality,” he said. “We must open up wider and make it work better.”
The FBI director Christopher Wray gave a speech arguing that China’s artificial intelligence (AI) programme would be weaponised by the country, telling attenders: “The Chinese government has a bigger hacking programme than any other nation in the world.”
Several economists also forecast that China’s rapid reopening could reignite rapid inflation by fuelling demand for commodities just as central bankers hoped they had got a grip on surging prices.
Rapid advances being made in AI have prompted a wave of warnings, not only about what it means for the world of work, but also the risks that it might produce misinformation on a grand scale.

Hungary is blocking release of €500 million in EU military aid to Ukraine

Three diplomats from separate EU countries have confirmed to Euronews that Budapest is so far vetoing the disbursement of the European Peace Facility (EPF) mechanism money.
One of the sources described it as a “violation of a gentlemen’s agreement” and “an attempt to undermine EU unity”.
Euronews has reached out to Hungarian authorities for comment.
Discussions in the working group are still ongoing, one of the diplomats told Euronews, and the issue is now expected to be addressed by foreign ministers at their next gathering on Monday.
As this pertains to foreign affairs, unanimity from all 27 member states is required for the funds to be released.
The EU has so far disbursed €3.1 billion for military equipment to Ukraine through six tranches of the EPF — more than half the €5.5bn allocated to the fund for the 2021-2027 period.

Trump Withdraws Lawsuit Against NY AG James

Former President Donald Trump on Friday voluntarily withdrew his lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James a day after he was ordered to pay nearly $1 million for repeatedly filing “frivolous” lawsuits, reports ABC News.
Trump in the suit claimed James “abused her position as Attorney General for the State of New York to pursue a vendetta” against him after James sued Trump and his three adult children over allegations of business fraud.
Trump’s notice of dismissal was filed in West Palm Beach, Fla. with U.S. District Judge Donald Middlebrooks, who on Thursday warned Trump’s legal team that the suit appeared to be frivolous.
Middlebrooks also presided over Trump’s lawsuit against Hillary Clinton where the former president claimed that Clinton and others involved in the Russia probe unlawfully conspired to damage Trump’s reputation.

Foreign gifts to Biden’s think tank must be investigated, Texas Rep. Gooden says

Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) has called for an investigation into foreign gifts given to the university that hosts President Joe Biden’s think tank in Washington, D.C., where classified documents were recently found in Biden’s private office, the Daily Caller reported.
In a letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, Gooden raised concerns about reports that since Biden became president, as much as $51 million has flowed from foreign countries into the University of Pennsylvania, the think tank’s parent institution.
That total includes $14 million from unnamed sources in China and Hong Kong, as well as $2.4 million from Saudi Arabia, according to a Washington Free Beacon report cited by Gooden.
It’s official: Trump’s tax cuts paid for themselves

Biden and congressional Democrats now want to let expire major planks of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, former President Donald Trump’s signature domestic achievement, particularly the incentives for American businesses to invest more here at home.
We now have incontrovertible evidence that after five years since they took effect, the Trump tax rate cuts of 2017 raised revenues over this time period.
The latest Congressional Budget Office report released earlier this month calculated that the federal government collected $4.9 trillion of federal revenue last year. This was up — ready for this? — almost $1.5 trillion since 2017, the year before the tax cuts became law.
This shouldn’t be a giant surprise. The same thing happened when Democratic President John F. Kennedy cut tax rates in the 1960s and when Republican President Ronald Reagan cut tax rates in the 1980s. Lower rates and more revenues.
None of this seems to matter to the White House or congressional Democrats. They want to monomaniacally repeal a tax cut that worked. This would be like firing a coach who wins every game.
