Biden administration weighing $450K-a-person compensation to migrant families separated by Trump
The Biden administration is reportedly considering paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars to migrant families separated at the southern border during the Trump administration, about $1 billion in total.
Officials from the departments of Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, and Justice have proposed paying each person $450,000, or nearly $1 million per two-person family, to settle claims about the lasting traumatic and psychological effects of being torn apart as a result of former President Donald Trump’s zero-tolerance policy, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday afternoon.
The amount paid out to each family would depend on the circumstances of their separation. Settlement talks are expected to conclude by the end of November, with more than 940 claims and multiple lawsuits filed.
One DHS attorney involved in the settlement talks lamented in a conference call that migrant families could receive more money than the families of people killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
More votes counted than cast in Virginia 2020 General Election, analysis of state voter data shows
An analysis of 2020 election results and individual Virginia Department of Elections data shows a 64,000-vote difference between those marked as having participated in the election and the number of ballots certified as being cast.
That’s according to the non-partisan Voter Reference Foundation (VRF), which released an audit of the 2020 race on Wednesday. It compares the state of Virginia’s official certified vote totals to its official individual voter history files, which report who voted– and who didn’t vote– last November.
The report said Virginia’s Department of Elections is 63,984 voters short, that it certified a ballot total higher than the number of voters it says voted.
Andrew Cuomo is charged with forcibly touching aide who claimed he groped her breast
The charges were filed on Thursday in Albany City Court. They relate to the allegation of Brittany Commisso, a former aide who claimed Cuomo groped her breast in the office of the Executive Mansion in Albany in November 2020, at the height of his pandemic popularity. He has always denied it.
Her claim was the most serious of all of the allegations listed in James’ report, which Cuomo has always maintained was a hit-job by the AG to get him out of her way. She is running for governor in November 2022.
If convicted, Cuomo – who has not yet commented – could face up to one year in prison. A redacted complaint is expected from the court system imminently.
The announcement of the charge was chaotic on Thursday; the criminal summons was filed hastily, before sheriff’s deputies had received the permission of Commisso.
Jury awards $17M in damages for Costco shooting by then-LAPD officer
The bulk of the verdict will be borne by the city, with the eight-person jury finding that Salvador Sanchez, then an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer, was acting within the scope of his employment when he opened fire inside the store on June 14, 2019, the Los Angeles Times reported.
According to The Times, the jury awarded the damages to Russell and Paola French, the parents of 32-year-old Kenneth French, who was killed in the shooting.
Sanchez was fired by the department last year after the city Police Commission determined that he acted outside department policy in the shooting. He is awaiting trial on charges of voluntary manslaughter and assault with a semiautomatic firearm.
Riverside County prosecutors had declined to file any charges in the case, but the state Attorney General’s Office opted to pursue a case following a review of the shooting.

Greene’s office said:

Florida’s path from worst-to-first in COVID metrics raises questions about pandemic restrictions
DeSantis’ stand now appears insightful, or at least providential, because while case counts, hospitalizations and deaths attributed to COVID-19 have declined nationwide since mid-September, they’ve dramatically plummeted in Florida over the last month.
“Without mandates or lockdowns, COVID-19 cases in Florida have decreased 90% since August,” DeSantis said in a statement. “In addition to cases, hospitalizations have plummeted in our state.
This has been accomplished by making monoclonal antibody treatments and vaccines widely available throughout our state while protecting Floridians from government overreach.”
DeSantis’ office noted Florida’s numbers are better across the board than states that imposed business lockdowns and other restrictions.
FDA Admits MORE Serious Adverse Effects From Pfizer Vaccine ‘May Become Apparent’ With Widespread Use
A Fact Sheet for Vaccine Providers published on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) website admits that “Additional adverse reactions, some of which may be serious, may become apparent with more widespread use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine.”
The Fact Sheet was issued in response to the FDA granting an emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine for people aged 12 and older.
The Fact Sheet also notes that the Pfizer vaccine carries risk of the heart conditions myocarditis and pericarditis in addition to numerous other ailments that have been reported in clinical trials, and that “immunocompromised persons…may have a diminished immune response to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine.”
Texas AG files brief in Facebook human trafficking case
“Facebook’s wrongful interpretation of Section 230 is being used to protect social media giants, while Americans are being silenced,” Paxton said in a news release. “A disturbing increase in heinous crimes such as human trafficking and illegal activity have eroded the fabric of our great nation.”
In the lawsuit, an unidentified plaintiff accuses Facebook of failing to warn her about the known dangers associated with human trafficking on its platform. The plaintiff further alleges that Facebook failed to warn her because its “business model depends on maximizing contacts between users – including contacts with minors,” according to the brief.
Texas is also recommending that Section 230 be amended to allow social media companies to be held liable in these cases, according to the new release.
Other states that have signed on to the brief include Alabama, Alaska, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio.

FDNY prepares to close 20% of fire companies — and pull a fifth of ambulances — as COVID vaccine deadline looms
With the deadline looming, the New York Fire Department announced Wednesday that only about two-thirds (65%) of its firefighters, fire officers, and EMS workers have been vaccinated, the Post said.
So now the FDNY is preparing to close up to 20% of all Gotham fire companies and to pull 20% of its ambulances out of service.
Now the city is scrambling to address the problem that could pose a danger for millions of New Yorkers. One firefighter predicted that “people will die in this city” as a result of the closures.
One firefighter told the Post that the mandate will “take about 40 percent of us out” and could force response times to increase to “seven minutes or more.”
White former hospital exec wins $10 million in reverse discrimination case
Novant Health is ordered to pay $10 million in punitive damages to David Duvall, its former senior vice president of marketing and communications, a federal jury in Charlotte decided.
Duvall claimed in a 2019 lawsuit that he was let go from his job in July 2018 because of the health system’s diversity efforts, and that he ended up being replaced by one Black woman and one White woman.
“We are pleased that the jury agreed that Duvall’s race and gender were unlawful factors in his termination – that he was fired to make room for more diverse leaders at Novant,” S. Luke Largess, Duvall’s attorney, said Tuesday night in a statement, the Winston-Salem Journal reported.

Several parents have expressed that they are upset about the “inappropriate actions” that appear to have taken place at the high school assembly, reports WKYT.

Lauren Roupoli, who called herself a concerned parent, addressed the Los Alamitos Unified School District Board of Education and spoke about the problems she perceives are involved with enforcing a mask mandate in children.
In her fiery speech, she accused one board member of criticizing parents for voicing their legitimate concerns. She drew applause when she said, “We are vocal because we are our children’s biggest advocates.”
Her comment apparently did not sit well with Marlys Davidson, the board’s president, who was picked up on a hot mic saying, “F— you,” during the applause.

Exclusive Daily Wire reporting has revealed that Terry McAuliffe, candidate for governor of Virginia, has been paid by a law firm that is fighting against students who say they were assaulted in schools.
School board bans parents from discussing non-approved topics and criticizing board members
The new restrictions were announced at a meeting held Oct. 18. “Effective tonight, open forum participants are prohibited from calling out or addressing any individual school board or school district staff member. If this occurs, open forum will be closed,” said School Board Chair Jodi Sapp. “Beginning at the Nov. 1 school board meeting, open forum will be limited to those individuals who wish to speak to an item on the board agenda.”
The effect of these two rules is that parents are not able to discuss anything but topics approved by the board in its agenda and all board members and schools administrators are protected from direct criticism.
During that same meeting, Sapp upheld another rule that forces commenters to state where they live. This rule was apparently not enforced or did not exist before this month. The Sept. 20 meeting featured no requirement that parents dox themselves in order to make a statement.

Since the president took office in late January, the United States has seen an unprecedented wave of illegal immigration. At the same time, deportations have dropped to record lows.
The widening of protected spaces follows Mayorkas limiting which illegal immigrants officers should pursue and narrowing or outright blocking enforcement actions in or near courthouses and at businesses.
Critics say the actions have curtailed the job of ICE officers.

Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana cited a 2019 tweet in which Dellinger said if “there were no Republican men in elected office, there would be no abortion bans.” Kennedy said it suggested anti-abortion lawmakers were “misogynistic.”

The UK’s Medicine and Healthcare product Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have openly admitted that they suspect myocarditis and pericarditis are potential side effects of the Pfizer and Moderna Covid-19 vaccines, especially among young males.
A suspicion that has been strong enough for the UK Medicine Regulator to officially add warnings about myocarditis and pericarditis to the safety labels of the Covid-19 vaccines.

A teenager who murdered two sisters after believing he had made a chilling pact with a demon has been jailed for at least 35 years.
Danyal Hussein, 19, has never explained his motive, but at his home detectives found a hand-written “contract” with “the mighty king Lucifuge Rofocale” in which he promised to sacrifice women in return for a big lottery win.
Hussein had signed his name in his own blood.

COVID-19: All countries to be removed from travel red list meaning no hotel quarantine for UK arrivals
The remaining seven countries on the government’s travel red list are to be removed, meaning there will no longer be a requirement for hotel quarantine for arrivals to the UK.
Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Panama, Peru and Venezuela are being taken off the list from 4am on Monday, which will leave no countries left in the highest category of travel restrictions.
However, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said the red list category and mandatory hotel quarantine was not being scrapped entirely and would be reviewed every three weeks.
Those travellers arriving in the UK from these destinations, who have had a full course of a COVID vaccine, do not need to quarantine for 10 days on arrival, take a pre-departure test or a day eight post-arrival test.

Ethiopia: 3 civilians killed in airstrike, factory hit in Tigray
On Thursday an Ethiopian airstrike hit the capital of the northern region of Tigray, killing three civilians and hitting a factory that stored military equipment.
A doctor saw six people being pulled from the rubble from the strike, according to Reuters, but he could not tell whether they were alive or dead.
He added that the bombing in Mekelle hit a residential area.
The Ethiopian government stated that the airstrike destroyed the other part of the Mesfin Industrial Engineering PLC, a factory complex bombed last week.
Military equipment was being stored there by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), according to Reuters.

France seizes British fishing boat amid post-Brexit row
“It’s not war, but it is a fight,” Girardin told RTL radio.
British fishing grounds are among the richest in the North East Atlantic zone, where most of the European Union’s catch is hauled in.

Is Climate Alarmism an Establishment Attempt to Restore Social Control?

When you think about it, a child could see through the nonsensical claims of climate alarmists. If slightly warmer temperatures are so terrible, why aren’t slightly warmer places already suffering all the problems alarmists say will happen? But climate alarmism, as a potential source of social unity, is far too valuable allow it to be defeated by mere logic.
What has caused this sudden upsurge in fear amongst global elites, that they are losing control?
If global elites cannot control communication technology, the next best thing is to try to dominate the conversation, through a fear campaign and a call for global unity.
The focus point for that push for global unity didn’t have to be climate change, but I believe they chose climate alarmism because it was convenient and available, and already had a significant following at the time the elites took an interest.
