Sen. Bob Menendez Under Federal Investigation, Again
Five years after a 12-person jury said it was “hopelessly deadlocked” and Judge William Walls declared “there is no alternative but to declare a mistrial,” federal prosecutors have reopened a corruption case involving Sen. Robert “Bob” Menendez (D-NJ).
Semafor was the first to break the story. Their report notes that federal authorities indicted Menendez and a Florida ophthalmologist, Salomon Melgen, in 2015 for an “alleged arrangement under which the doctor provided flights on a private jet and lavish vacations in exchange for the senator’s help with government contracts and other public favors.”
The New York Post reported federal authorities believed Menendez received substantial “political donations” and perks “in exchange for helping Melgen secure lucrative government contacts and visas for his…three foreign girlfriends.”
According to the outlet, federal prosecutors have contacted individuals associated with the previous trial and “an entirely different group of people.” Reportedly, federal officials have issued at least one subpoena in the new case.
Diesel Shortage Spreads Across East Coast as Goldman Sachs Issues Warning
Mansfield Energy is now requiring a 72-hour notice for deliveries to obtain freight and fuel “because conditions are rapidly devolving,” the firm told customers, according to Bloomberg News. Fuel prices are running 30 to 80 cents higher than the market average, the firm said.
“At times, carriers are having to visit multiple terminals to find supply, which delays deliveries and strains local trucking capacity,” the note said, referring to the market in Tennessee, which is “seeing particularly acute challenges.” The Epoch Times has contacted the firm for comment.
Recent provided by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) show that diesel stockpiles are at their lowest level for October in records that date back to 2008. The United States had about 25 days of supply as of Oct. 14, which is down from 34.2 days of supply from a month before.

Moderna Close to US Deal for Ebola, Biological Vaccines
Moderna Inc. is nearing a deal with the U.S. government to develop vaccines against a range of biological threats including Ebola, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The potential deal with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) would see Moderna’s mRNA technology being used to develop a vaccine targeting the Ebola strain responsible for the disease’s outbreak in Uganda, the report said.
Uganda declared the Ebola outbreak in September, and the disease has claimed 30 lives so far with the number of confirmed cases rising to 109.
The Bloomberg report said it was unlikely that Moderna’s candidate would be ready to use in time to address the burst of cases in Uganda.
Comer demands FBI give info on CCP-linked JiaQi Bao and Hunter BIden
In the letter obtained by DailyMail.com, Comer noted that ‘Bao provided Hunter insight into purchasing liquified natural gas reserves in the United States to sell to China, had access to the Biden family’s financial information, and liaised with CCP-affiliated agents on the Bidens’ behalf.’
Comer is requesting by Nov. 9 the FBI hand over all documents and communications relating to Bao, all documents and correspondence provided to or by Thibault regarding the Hunter Biden investigation and everything regarding CEFC’s efforts to purchase American energy and infiltrate the Biden family.
Timothy Thibault, a top FBI agent accused of bias in handling the Hunter Biden investigation, resigned in August after whistleblowers alleged he slow-walked the probe and told agents ‘not to look into the laptop’ because he did not want an FBI investigation to interfere with the 2020 election.
Comer cited concerns that Bao’s alleged liaising between the CCP and the Biden family threatened national security and that Thibault ‘ignored information’ about Bao’s role in the Biden family business.

The decision comes after the U.S. Supreme Court in June ruled in Kennedy’s favor, 6-3, that the coach was protected by the Constitution when he knelt and prayed aloud at the 50-yard-line post-game, sometimes with his players.
A joint stipulation filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington stated that Kennedy “is to be reinstated to his previous position as assistant coach of the Bremerton High School football team on or before March 15, 2023.”
He is also entitled to reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.
Lower courts for years had repeatedly sided with the Bremerton School District in the case. Kennedy said his routine typically lasted less than a minute and he insisted his prayers were brief, private, individual acts of faith.
The school district argued that student participation breached constitutional prohibitions against the promotion of religion by government officials.

Universal Music’s Def Jam label, which owns the copyright to West’s recordings from 2002 through 2016, has not asked to do so, according to Reuters.
Spotify’s position comes as a growing number of companies have severed their relationship with West and his businesses, including Adidas and Hollywood’s mega-talent agency CAA. Vogue magazine and the fashion house Balenciaga have also cut ties.

New Home Sales Crash 10.9% as Higher Mortgage Rates Crater Demand
The estimates for the previous three months were revised down, indicating that the market was weaker than previously thought.
Compared with a year ago, new home sales are down 17.6 percent. Compared with September of 2019, the last comparable month prior to the pandemic, sales are down 16.1 percent.

Child found locked in dog kennel told detectives he had been ‘living outside’ since April, warrants show
Search warrants show that an anonymous person called 911 just before 7 a.m. on Oct. 19 who told them about the child and said that her husband had taken the child some food “in the past.”
The child was found in a t-shirt, jeans and with no shoes on a night when temperatures reached below freezing. Deputies observed frost on the ground when they arrived. They broke into the padlocked kennel to get to the child for his safety.
The deputies saw a woman at the back door of the home holding a small child. She walked out of sight and turned the lights off, according to warrants.
The deputies secured the 9-year-old and then forced entry into the home, where they detained Sarah Starr, the little boy’s stepmother. She told deputies she did not know the combination to the lock on the kennel and that only her aunt, Shelley Barnes, knew it.
Arizona border port of entry nabs over 500,000 fentanyl pills in single weekend
CBP in Nogales, Arizona announced that on Saturday it stopped three loads of fentanyl, including 114,800 pills in a dashboard and 297,000 pills stashed in a car coming across the border.
On Sunday, agents stopped two more loads — including 134,200 pills found in the rocker panels of a car.
Combined, agents confiscated approximately half a million fentanyl pills, 60 pounds of meth and 10 pounds of cocaine during the busy weekend for agents.
Officials have warned of a spike in deaths linked to the illicit drug — which is 100 times more potent than morphine and can be fatal in small amounts.
The drug is created primarily in Mexico using precursors from China, and it is then transferred across the land border of the U.S.
NYC shootout between two groups in Bronx captured on video
The clip, which was captured around 5 p.m. Friday, begins with two individuals parking their dark blue Jeep on a street.
“As the individuals exited the car, a group of unidentified individuals began firing their guns multiple times at the two individuals,” the NYPD said in a statement. “The two individuals then displayed their firearms and began firing at the group.”
Police reported no injuries in the gun battle, and as of Wednesday, none of the people involved have been identified or caught.
Darrell Brooks found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide in Waukesha Christmas parade massacre
Darrell Brooks, the 40-year-old Milwaukee man accused of plowing a Ford Escape SUV through a Christmas parade in nearby Waukesha last year, has been found guilty of six intentional first-degree homicide counts and other chargers – Wisconsin’s equivalent of murder – in a trial over the deaths of six and injuries to dozens more.
Brooks made several objections over “subject matter jurisdiction” before the jury returned. Judge Jennifer Dorow invited the jurors back. Brooks made a series of requests for documents, Dorow said they were noted and denied.
The decision came after a 23-day trial which saw the defendant, who was representing himself, ejected from the courtroom multiple times for disruptive behavior.

Judge Orders Unvaccinated New York City Employees Reinstated, Rules COVID-19 Firings Unconstitutional
The Big Apple mandated in 2021 that all city employees must receive a COVID-19 vaccine, rejecting requests for religious exemptions, such as from pro-life employees who objected to the vaccine because stem cell lines from aborted children were used in the vaccines’ development.
New York City fired all of those employees, including firefighters, police officers, and other first responders who had served fearlessly during the worst stages of the pandemic. Many of these employees formerly hailed as heroes had also contracted the disease and recovered, and cited their natural immunity antibodies as another reason to allow them not to be vaccinated.
Justice Ralph Porzio of the New York Supreme Court in Staten Island held that these terminations are illegal. (The name is misleading, because in New York’s court system, the lowest level of general jurisdiction courts is called the supreme court. It is simply the county court that conducts trials.) Specifically, Porzio held that the mandate is unconstitutional — for several reasons.

A fundraiser and donor to New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ election campaign heads a non-profit that houses a Chinese overseas police station and works closely with Communist Party influence operations, a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation found.
Lu Jianshun supported fundraising efforts for Adams through his role as the president of America Changle Association, an organization based in Manhattan’s Chinatown that caters to overseas Chinese from the Changle district of Fuzhou, Fujian province in China, the DCNF found.
Lu himself donated $4,000 to Adams’ mayoral campaign under the adopted name “James Lu” between 2019 and 2021, according to public campaign finance records.
America Changle is just one of many New York City associations that claim to “promote the prosperity” of Chinese immigrants. However, New York City Chinese human rights activists have raised the alarm over the group’s president’s support of Adams, noting the strong ties between America Changle and CCP-backed influence operations.

Sabotage Again Suspected As More European Internet Cables Cut
The first incident took place in the North Sea last week and saw an underwater fibre optic cable cut, shutting off the internet and mobile phone networking to the Shetland Islands, the northernmost islands of the United Kingdom for an entire night.
According to a report from French broadcaster BFMTV, a second fibre optic cable severing incident was reported by the security firm Zscaler, which claimed that damage had been detected at a fibre optic hub in Aix-en-Provence, near Marseille last week.
The security network claimed that three lines of the hub had been severed linking Marseille and Lyon, Marseille and Milan as well as Marseille and Barcelona, affecting internet access in Europe as well as Asia and the United States.
Zscaler commented on the incident on Twitter, stating, “Zscaler has discovered that a subsea Internet cable was severed in the south of France in an apparent act of vandalism.”
Misha Kuperman, senior vice president of global cloud operations at Zscaler has also claimed that French telecom operators have also privately concurred with the idea that the incident was the result of sabotage.

Children displaying transgender tendencies are likely going through a “phase” that they may come out of as they age and therefore most should not be subjected to transition therapies, guidance from the United Kingdom’s NHS has stated.
In a potentially stark departure from years past, draft guidelines published by NHS England have called for stricter rules surrounding the treatment of allegedly transgender children under the age of 18, going so far as to warn doctors to not take the so-called gender-affirming approach of indulging youngsters in areas such as preferred pronouns.
