Illegal immigrant faces life after beheading girlfriend with a machete inside car in Minnesota
An illegal immigrant from Cuba has been convicted of first-degree murder for beheading his girlfriend with a machete in Minnesota after striking her with a dumbbell inside a car.
Alexis Saborit, 44, was found guilty Thursday of attacking 56-year-old America Mafalda Thayer with the 8-pound dumbbell in the city of Shakopee near Minneapolis on July 28, 2021.
Several people witnessed the gruesome attack, which ended with him decapitating her with a machete.
One of the bystanders shot a video that captured the depraved killer pulling the woman’s body out of the car and then picking up her head by the hair.
John Durham releases final report concluding FBI had no verified intel when it opened probe on Trump
“Neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation,” Durham wrote in a 300-plus page report sent to Congress and others and obtained by Just the News.
DOJ was slated to make the report public later Monday.
“The FBI personnel also repeatedly disregarded important requirements when they continued to seek renewals of that FISA surveillance while acknowledging — both then and in hindsight — that they did not genuinely believe there was probably cause to believe that the target was knowingly engaged in clandestine intelligence activities on behalf of foreign power.”
The report’s release touched off instant outrage and impact on Capitol Hill, where House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan tweeted he planned to summon Durham for testimony next week.
Durham specifically faulted the FBI for relying on evidence from Hillary Clinton’s campaign, including the Steele dossier, saying leadership lacked the necessary distrust of politically motivated allegations.

The Biden Administration currently is celebrating its handling of the border crisis, with VP Kamala Harris even saying over the weekend that the situation down there is ‘going rather smoothly.’
But it’s definitely too early for such a victory lap, says Todd Bensman, Senior Fellow for the Center of Immigration Studies.
Bensman, who closely monitored the crisis from the border last week, tells Glenn it’s likely that the massive migration into America simply is ‘on pause.’ And when the Biden Administration says otherwise, Bensman explains, it shows that the left underestimates the cunningness of migrants dreaming of life in America: ‘Immigrants are smart people.
They pay very close attention to…any kind of way they can get around the new regime.’
Maryland man leads police on chase with 5-ton military vehicle after being released from jail: officials
“The initial investigation indicates the suspect, identified as Michael D. Stevens II, 38, from Abingdon, had just been released from the Harford County Detention Center before stealing the vehicle,” police said in a statement.
“Multiple attempts to deploy stop sticks to disable the vehicle were attempted but failed. The truck continued into Baltimore City before coming to a stop on Conkling Street,” the Sheriff’s Office added. “The driver exited the vehicle and attempted to run from the scene. Harford County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were able to safely apprehend the suspect.”
“During his bail review he was released on an unsecured $1,500 bond. He left the Detention Center and stole the vehicle within about 30 minutes,” she added.

CBS 8 contacted FBI officials in San Diego who refused to comment on the arrest. A source told the local CBS affiliate the FBI classified the information on the Afghan national.

US Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) shared the footage of the crowd of mostly men standing amid makeshift beds in the 120-person room Friday.
He said the Central Processing Center handled about 6,000 migrants that day despite its maximum capacity of 1,000.
During a press conference about the crisis after the end of the pandemic-era Title 42, the congressman called it an “astronomical number.”
“A cell that is supposed to hold 90 people was holding 400 to 500,” he said, KFOX reported. “These are not good conditions.”

Moscow claims first intercept of UK-made long-range projectile
Russian forces have downed a UK-supplied cruise missile along with several other weapons fired by Ukrainian forces, the Defense Ministry reported in its daily update on Monday.
London confirmed delivering Storm Shadow weapons to Ukraine last week, which were promptly used to attack the city of Lugansk.
The Defense Ministry claimed weapons intercepted in the previous 24 hours included seven anti-radiation HARM missiles, one Storm Shadow missile and seven rockets fired by HIMARS multiple launch weapon systems.
It was the first time that Moscow reported downing a Storm Shadow since the UK confirmed their delivery.
U.S. Sees More Indications of ‘Burgeoning Defense Relationship’ Between Russia, Iran
The United States is seeing more indications that Russia and Iran are expanding a defense partnership in a way that will help Moscow prolong its war in Ukraine, the White House said on May 15.
Russia is looking to purchase more advanced drones from Iran, while at the same time Iran is looking to buy “billions of dollars of military equipment” from Russia, including aircraft and other military hardware that increase the security threat to Iran’s neighbors, said White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.
Drones are the primary military help Iran is providing to Russia, which is seeking to acquire advanced level types, he said.
Iran announced two months ago that it reached a deal to buy advanced Su-35 fighter planes from Russia. Iranian state media said Iran had asked a number of countries to explore the possibility of selling it fighter jets, and Russia had given a positive response to the request. Details of the deal were not disclosed.

Russia and India reviving rupee settlements in trade
Several weeks after rupee-ruble talks were reportedly suspended over concerns by both Russia and India about secondary sanctions, a new mechanism has emerged to facilitate non-dollar settlements.
The traditional allies are turning to settling outstanding non-oil payments with the excess Indian rupees in Moscow’s coffers, according to a top official at India’s United Commercial Bank (UCO Bank), a state-run lender.
Although this is a new approach, the mechanism had actually been in the works since January.
Such a move augurs well for both India and Russia amid New Delhi’s new trade policy that aims to make a dent in the hegemony of the dollar.

Russian mercenary chief offered to give up Russian troop positions to Ukraine: Report
Wagner Group owner Yevgeniy Prigozhin made the offer through back channels to Ukrainian intelligence, according to a trove of leaked Pentagon documents obtained by the Washington Post.
He reportedly requested that Ukrainian forces pull back from the city of Bakhmut and said he would provide intelligence on the Russian military’s troop deployments in return.
Wagner’s mercenary troops had been taking significant losses in the fighting around Bakhmut for weeks.
The private military group often deploys ill-trained soldiers as fodder for the front lines, many of them convicts who accepted service in exchange for shorter sentences.

According to the leader of the Wagner Group, Russian forces are losing ground around Bakhmut as units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully advance in the area.
The leader also mentions that Ukrainian forces aim to deal with the Wagner Group first before pushing into other regions of Ukraine, and he expects the counteroffensive to cover the entire frontline from north to south.
Ukrainian Commander Touts Successful Advance In Bakhmut; Zelenskiy Gets Weapons Pledge From Britain
Ukraine’s General Staff said on May 14 that the Russian military continued to focus its main efforts in the Donbas region — made up of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions — on Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiyivka, and Maryinka, and that about 30 combat clashes took place that day.
The Ukrainian military described Bakhmut and Maryinka as being at the “epicenter of hostilities.” Donetsk regional governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said on May 15 that four people were killed when a Russian missile attack struck a hospital in Avdiyivka.
The Ukrainian push to break through Russian forces in Bakhmut, coming amid an anticipated spring offensive to recapture areas occupied by Russia following its invasion in February 2022, comes as President Volodymyr continues his tour of European capitals to drum up support and secure fresh deliveries of Western military equipment and aid.
Zelenskiy met with German and French leaders, as well as Italian officials and Pope Francis, over the weekend, and arrived in London on May 15 to meet with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

The exact weapon that triggered the explosion remains unknown, aside from the reports of a drone strike.
But Russia had attacked a similar storage facility in eastern Ukraine just two weeks before, causing similar destruction and a large crater at the center of the explosion.
The explosion in the footage resembles the chain reaction typically observed during the detonation of large ammunition or explosive storage facilities.

Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Dispute Over Trump’s Former DC Hotel
A federal district judge threw out the Democrats’ lawsuit in 2018, finding they lacked standing to bring the case. The court found the lawmakers were not injured by being denied the documents and that there was “no historical precedent for members of Congress to even attempt to enforce unmet … demands through the federal courts.”
But a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit overturned that ruling on a 2–1 vote in 2020, finding that the lawmakers had the right to sue. The panel sent the case back to the lower court for reconsideration, stating, “The separation of powers, it must be remembered, is not a one-way street that runs to the aggrandizement of the executive branch.”
In the case at hand, the Biden administration sided with the former Trump administration in defense of presidential authority, urging the Supreme Court not to take up the case.
The Supreme Court is expected to hold oral arguments in the case in its new term that begins in October.

Secret Service refuses to hand over emails naming Biden’s Delaware visitors
A Secret Service FOIA officer cited a federal appeals court ruling in New York regarding visitor information for former President Donald Trump’s residences, even though the ruling doesn’t bind the actions of officials in Delaware or in DC.
The Secret Service claimed last year that “no records were located” showing logs of Biden’s Delaware visitors in response to a FOIA request filed by The Post.
In September, the Secret Service denied an appeal, telling The Post again that “no responsive records” were found after an “additional search of relevant program offices.”
The latest response is different in that it doesn’t deny the existence of responsive records and instead says they cannot be released.
