Florida middle school teacher is slammed for using black sixth-graders as ‘political props’ and getting white students to BOW down to them

A sixth-grade teacher in Florida is being slammed after he posted a video showing white students bowing down to black students during a Black History Month skit.
Parents and families of children at Howard Middle School in Orlando are now voicing their outrage over the teacher using the students as ‘political props.’
In the controversial video posted to TikTok, Ethan Hooper’s students fan and feed three black classmates before bowing down to them in the skit.

Local outlets have reported that Hooper, 29, has since been placed on leave by administrators and is likely to be ‘terminated.’

REVEALED: East Palestine toxic train derailment ‘100% preventable’: report

In their preliminary report on the February 3 toxic chemical spill and subsequent contamination of air and water in the northeastern Ohio town, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said that the operator received warnings to ensure this didn’t happen.
According to the agency, which is responsible for investigating transportation accidents, a “critical audible alarm message [instructed] the crew to slow and stop the train to inspect a hot axle,” when a hot bearing detector system observed high levels of heat.
After hearing the warning, the train’s engineer, who was already braking due to a train ahead, “increased the dynamic brake application to further slow and stop the train.”
However, the safety device, which “detect[s] overheated bearings and provide[s] audible real-time warnings to train crews,” wasn’t enough, despite the fact that the train passed through three of these systems “on its trip before the derailment,” according to the report.

What Buttigieg Ignored about the Construction Industry

But Buttigieg’s remarks, part of an increasingly single-minded racial emphasis in the Biden administration, were also misleading. The construction trades are among the most diverse in America.
As a proportion of construction workers, whites are underrepresented relative to their share of the broader population.
More to the point, the biggest problem the industry faces right now is not racial imbalance but an extreme shortage of workers that threatens to undermine the rebound of construction post-Covid.
Worker scarcity is opening an opportunity for young people of all races to find a career in the industry—yet their biggest roadblock to getting jobs may be Biden policies favoring firms that use workers in unions, some with a notorious history of excluding minorities.
Buttigieg seems unaware that the construction industry has been transforming dramatically for more than a decade. The share of whites working in construction trades has declined since 2010, from 63.2 percent to 52.9 percent.
In that time, the industry has become more accommodating to minorities.
The share of Hispanic workers has grown from 20.2 percent to 27.7 percent. Black workers, meantime, constitute another 11.1 percent of the industry.

On Invasion Anniversary, Zelenskiy Says Russia ‘Must Lose’ In Ukraine As Allies Pledge More Aid

KYIV — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Russia “must lose in Ukraine” as Moscow’s full-scale invasion entered its second year on February 24 amid heavy fighting in the east and south, while Ukraine’s Western allies marked the anniversary by announcing more military aid for Kyiv.
“On February 24, millions of us made a choice: not a white flag, but a blue-and-yellow flag,” Zelenskiy told Ukrainians in a message on social media.
“Not escape, but resistance. Resistance against the enemy. Resistance and struggle. It was a year of pain, regret, faith and unity. And this is the year of our indomitability,” Zelenskiy said in his message on February 24, adding, “We know that this will be the year of our victory.”
Zelenskiy separately told a conference in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius that only defeat in Ukraine would stave off Russian President Vladimir Putin’s expansionist policies toward Moscow’s former sphere of influence.
A Chinese Proposal To End The War In Ukraine? Not Quite

Released by China on February 24 to coincide with the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion, the 12-point proposal calls for an end to Western sanctions against Moscow, setting up humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians, ensuring the regular export of Ukrainian grain, security guarantees for Russia, and calls against the use of nuclear weapons.
The paper pitches a gradual de-escalation of hostilities that would pave the way for peace talks, but China’s call for a truce between Russia and Ukraine quickly faced scrutiny as it appeared to reaffirm Beijing’s position that the West is fueling the conflict while seemingly offering Moscow a reprieve.
“Beijing is speaking to a global audience with this paper,” Raffaello Pantucci, a senior fellow at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore, told RFE/RL. “But for China to seriously push for peace, they would have to tell Moscow things they don’t want to hear, and there is no evidence that [Beijing] has ever told Russia to step back — either behind the scenes or in front of the cameras.”

North Korean parents will be punished if their children watch foreign media even once

The threats, issued during weekly meetings of neighborhood watch units nationwide, increase pressure on parents to educate their children “properly” in socialist ideals and are the latest measure to prevent the spread of South Korean pop culture among the country’s youth.
Parents previously could be held responsible if their teens had repeated offenses, but now there will be no such leniency, a resident of South Pyongan province, north of the capital Pyongyang, told RFA’s Korean Service on condition of anonymity for security reasons.
“The host of the meeting emphasized parental responsibility, saying that education for children begins at home,” the source said. “If parents do not educate their children from moment to moment, they will dance and sing of capitalism and become anti-socialists.”
