The settlement doesn’t require Meta to admit wrongdoing. However, the company said in a statement that they “revamped our approach to privacy and implemented a comprehensive privacy program” in the last three years.

The lawsuit was prompted by revelations in 2018 that Facebook had allowed Cambridge Analytica, which worked for Donald Trump’s election campaign in 2016, to access users’ personal information without their consent.

The data was used for voter profiling and prompted government investigations and a U.S. congressional hearing where Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had to respond to lawmakers’ questions about Facebook’s privacy practices.

Earlier in 2019, Facebook settled to pay $5 billion to resolve a Federal Trade Commission investigation into its privacy practices.

The company paid another $100 million to settle the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission claims that it misled investors about the misuse of users’ data. The company is also fighting a lawsuit by the attorney general for Washington, D.C.

‘Fortnite’ Maker Epic Games Fined $520 Million by FTC over Children’s Privacy Violations

TechCrunch reports that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced this week that it is imposing a $520 million settlement on Epic Games over allegations related to children’s privacy.

The company, which is known for producing popular games such as Fortnite and Fall Guys, is accused of violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by using “dark patterns” to mislead millions of players into making unintended purchases, according to a press release from the FTC.

The $520 million payment is divided into two settlements: a COPPA fine of $275 million, the largest penalty ever imposed for violating an FTC rule, and a $245 million refund to customers for what the FTC refers to as “dark patterns and billing practices.”

This second fine will be the largest refund amount ever issued by the FTC in a gaming case. Epic Games has stated that it will pay both fines.

In addition to the allegations that it made it too easy for children to make online purchases, the FTC also raised concerns about Epic Games’ live text and voice communication features, which were set to be enabled by default.

Grand Jury Request Goes Through In Florida: “They Won’t Be Able to Hide Anything”

Nine days after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said, in a press release, that he would be asking the State Supreme Court to convene a Grand Jury to investigate “any and all wrongdoing” with respect to the Covid-19 injections, he, extraordinarily, received approval on Thursday (12/22/22) for that request.

“And so, in Florida, we’re creating what we’re calling the public health integrity committee. It’s a committee of expert researchers that will be able to assess recommendations and guidance related to public health and healthcare, but particularly being able to offer critical assessments of things that bureaucracies like the FDA, CDC, and NIH are doing.”

Doctors Jay Bhattacharya and Martin Kulldorff will be serving as members of this Health Committee. So, when the CDC recommends vaccinations and masks for young children, there will be another entity of authority that will offer a second opinion with some weight.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt Is Funding Biden Admin Jobs

Breitbart News has reported extensively on Schmidt’s attempts to influence successive presidential administrations, beginning with Barack Obama.

Earlier this year, another Politico report exposed Schmidt’s attempts to influence the Biden administration’s science policy.

According to the latest report, those efforts are ongoing, with Schmidt indirectly funding the salaries of “more than two dozen” Biden administration officials via an external group, the Federation of American Scientists.

Via Politico:

A POLITICO investigation found that members of the administration are well aware that a significant amount of the money for the salaries of FAS’s fellows comes from Schmidt’s research and investment firm, Schmidt Futures, and that the organization was critical to the program to fund administration jobs. In fact, the influence of Schmidt Futures at FAS is such that they are sometimes conflated.

Thus, some close observers of AI policy believe that Schmidt is using the program to enhance his clout within the administration and to advance his AI agenda.

“Schmidt is clearly trying to influence AI policy to a disproportionate degree of any person I can think of,” said Alex Engler, a fellow at the Brookings Institution who specializes in AI policy. “We’ve seen a dramatic increase in investment toward advancing AI capacity in government and not much in limiting its harmful use.”

In statements to Politico, both the White House and Eric Schmidt denied any impropriety in the relationship.

18 Wasteful Items in the $1.7 Trillion Spending Bill: Millions for LGBT Projects, Border Security for Other Countries

The swamp quickly regained its footing, and the Senate passed the bill on Thursday in a 68-29 vote, despite conservatives in both chambers warning Republican colleagues to vote against the measure. Republican Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is among those who has backed the warnings of House Republicans threatening to thwart the legislative efforts of GOP senators who voted in favor of the bill.

Eighteen Republican senators ended up voting with Democrats to pass the $1.7 government spending spree.

The 4,155-page monster contains billions in earmarks and millions more on wasteful projects unrelated to keeping the government up and running. Here are some of the highlights.

Exclusive– Trump Blasts Democrats’ ‘Deranged’ Tax Return ‘Witch-Hunt,’ Calls on Incoming GOP House to Obtain Biden ‘Financial Records’

Trump, the lone Republican candidate thus far in the 2024 GOP primary field, blasted the “radical Democrats” on Friday for the move, asserting that it is “an outrageous abuse of power” and that the documents only show how successful he has been.

“There is no legitimate legislative purpose for their action, and if you look at what they’ve done, it’s so sad for our country,” he said after calling the situation “unconstitutional.” “It’s nothing but another deranged political witch-hunt, which has been going on from the day I came down the escalator in Trump Tower.”

“Although these tax returns contain relatively little information and not information that almost anybody would understand — they’re extremely complex — the radical Democrats’ behavior is a shame upon the U.S. Congress,” Trump added before calling on Republicans in the next Congress to pursue Biden’s financial records:

Plans are already in the works to obtain some of Biden’s financial records. Last month, Rep. Jamie Comer (R-KY), who is set to chair the House Oversight Committee in the new Congress, announced that he intends to open an investigation into Biden on a number of potential violations, including “wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, violations of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act, tax evasion, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.”

Germany releases definitive data proving that deaths from “covid” ramped up AFTER the “vaccines” were unleashed

There is also data from BKK, Germany’s largest insurance provider covering nearly 11 million Germans, showing that 2.05 percent of vaccine recipients subsequently sought medical care with a health care provider.

The Germany Political Party (AFD) responded to this by filing the German equivalent of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for all other insurance data, which showed that many health conditions commonly associated with covid injuries increased substantially after the jabs were unleashed.

In short, the data clearly shows that covid-associated health damage and injuries only increased after the shots were introduced. Before that, they were relatively stable going back to at least 2016, long before covid appeared.

“Given these numbers, it is very difficult to argue that these events were not caused by something,” A Midwestern Doctor writes. “In this regard, we are also quite fortunate that while the vaccines were rushed to the market over a period of time far too short to establish safety, that process still took a year.”

“Because of this lag, it is possible to refute the reflexively cited counterargument that these changes were due to COVID-19 or the lockdowns, as these only occurred in 2020 (the only possible exception I can think of is that Delta emerged near the end of 2020, but the spike started well before Delta became prevalent in Europe later in 2021).”

French police used tear gas and other methods to try to disperse a mob of Kurds that turned out in the wake of a shooting that has left three dead and several others injured.

The suspected shooter, identified only as a 69-year-old William M., was reportedly previously arrested on charges of attacking a migrant camp with a sabre.

The newspaper Le Parisien claimed that he had just been released from prison on December 12th.

Le Parisen reporter on the ground for the protest turned riot said: “A group of people charge the police and launch projectiles. The hitherto peaceful demonstration is degenerating.”

“It doesn’t calm down at all, on the contrary, the police are cornered in a small street and the group of demonstrators is on Faubourg-Saint-Denis road, they have much more space, it’s very hot,” the reporter added two hours later.

A police source speaking to the broadcaster BFM TV said that members of the Kurdish community then began attacking police, throwing stones, pieces of wood, road signs and even bicycle wheels as the scene descended into chaos.

British Woman Arrested for Praying Silently outside Abortion Clinic

A pro-life woman was arrested earlier this month for silently praying outside an abortion clinic in Birmingham, U.K. on the grounds that she had breached a speech buffer zone established by the local city council.

Police told Isabel Vaughan-Spruce that she would be taken into custody for violating a Public Space Protection Order. Video footage of the arrest was captured by AllThingsProLife and circulated by Alliance Defending Freedom, which is hosting a fundraiser for Vaughan-Spruce’s legal defense.

When officers asked whether she was part of a protest, she replied “no.” They then asked if she was praying, to which she said she could be doing so “in my head.” Police then searched her, and patted down her hair, before handcuffing her and escorting her to the station.

Palestinian gunmen on Friday evening fired at the Israeli settlement of Shaked in the northern West Bank damaging a house window.

Israeli military forces (IDF) are searching the area for the suspects who fled the scene. No casualties were reported, according to the IDF statement.

The shooting comes hours after three Israeli police officers were wounded in a terrorist attack in the central Arab-Israeli town of Kafr Qasem early Friday. Police named the attacker, who was shot dead, as Naim Badir, a 20-something resident of the town.

The attacks have intensified in recent months amid an Israeli counterterrorism operation conducted mostly in the northern West Bank in response to a series of Palestinian attacks on Israelis. More than 150 Palestinians and over 20 Israelis were killed in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so far this year, marking the highest number of fatalities in years.

His alleged serial killing was dramatized in a series co-produced by the BBC and Netflix called ‘The Serpent’, which aired last year.

Sobhraj was driven out of the Central Jail in Kathmandu in a heavily guarded police convoy earlier Friday to the Department of Immigration.

The Supreme Court had ordered that Sobhraj, who was sentenced to life in prison, be freed because of poor health, good behaviour and having served more than 75 per cent of his sentence, making him eligible for release. It said Sobhraj has heart disease.

Life sentences in Nepal are 20 years.

The order also said he had to leave the country within 15 days.

Why did China send record 18 bombers to Taiwan’s ADZ?

On Tuesday, December 13, China sent 18 nuclear-capable, long-range H-6 bombers into Taiwan’s southwestern Air Defense Identification Zone.

This is the largest intrusion by China’s H-6 bombers ever recorded, surpassing a previous incident in October 2021 when 16 H-6 bombers entered the zone.

By entering this zone, China is showing off its military prowess and reminding Taiwan and the U.S. that it can threaten Taiwan’s airspace.

The aerial intrusion comes shortly after Japan’s Prime Minister visited Taiwan and after China instituted new bans on Taiwanese food, alcohol and fishery products.
