Mother killed in front of her 3 kids by husband after he was released without bail for assault
Keaira Hudson, 40, was shot dead in her vehicle on Wednesday morning by her 45-year-old husband, Adam Bennefield, while her children were in the back seat, according to News 4 and ABC 7.
Hudson and Bennefield were separated, and on Sept. 28, he allegedly punched and kicked her in their home, according to court documents. She had posted a video of the assault on Facebook and was living with her mother in recent days, even wearing a bulletproof vest when leaving the house.
Bennefield was charged in court with one count of third-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, one count of second-degree menacing, one count of second-degree unlawful imprisonment, and one count of second-degree harassment. He is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 20.
The offenses do not qualify for bail, which is why Bennefield was released on his own recognizance. A law enforcement source told News 4 that these charges would have qualified for bail prior to bail reform.
In 2000, he had slammed a stolen car into the vehicle his ex-girlfriend was driving before forcing her and her passenger at gunpoint into his vehicle and leading police on a high-speed chase.
Job growth declines for second straight month; unemployment falls again to 50-year low
Job growth in the United States dropped for the second straight month in September, signaling flagging economic prospects even as unemployment fell to low levels similar to those seen 50 years prior.
The U.S. nonfarm payroll roster grew by 263,000 in September, falling from 315,000 new jobs in August and 528,000 in July.
The slowing rate of growth indicates the Federal Reserve’s aggressive efforts to put a lid on inflation in the U.S. are having a depressive effect on economic activity. The Fed has been raising interest rates over the last several months in order to combat sky-high inflation at nearly every consumer index.
Dow tumbles 600 points, dropping below level just prior to pandemic crash
The Dow Jones Industrial Average sunk 600 points on Friday, driven by a disappointing jobs report that sent the index below levels not seen since just before the pandemic-driven crash of early 2020.
Just over 29,900 at Thursday’s closing bell, by mid-afternoon the Dow had fallen to 29,278. That’s the lowest the average has been since roughly November of 2020 and just about where the index registered in mid-February of 2020, when pandemic-induced panic struck world markets and send the Dow cratering.
The steep decline on Friday was likely driven in large part by an underwhelming jobs report, which saw job growth in September decline for the second straight month in a row.

Audit of fired DC police officers shows dozens reinstated, $14 million in back pay awarded
According to the Office of the District of Columbia Auditor, two of every three officers terminated returned to the force “primarily because independent arbitrators believed firing was too severe a punishment or that the department had missed deadlines, overstepped its authority or provided insufficient evidence.”
The review found 36 of the 37 officers fired for various offenses were paid millions in back pay after complicated and costly reinstatement cases.
The ODCA said the audit had been prompted by a previous audit of settlements paid by the District government that had showed that millions in backpay had been awarded to 10 fired and reinstated MPD officers over 18 months.
The officers got their jobs back by appealing the termination.
Mexican cartels using social media to recruit smugglers amid historic border surge
Mexican criminal cartels are increasingly using social media to recruit people in the U.S. to help with their smuggling operations at the southern border, just as the U.S. is facing a historic migrant surge – with the apprehension of a tractor-trailer packed with dozens of migrants marking the latest instance of such recruitment methods.
Transnational criminal organizations coordinate operations at both sides of the border, with operatives picking up drugs, contraband and migrants as they come across the border illegally. Traffic has increased exponentially in recent years, with Border Patrol agents making over 2.1 million encounters this fiscal year so far — not including the approximately 600,000 migrant “gotaways” who are believed to have got past overwhelmed agents.
With the increase in traffic, cartels are increasingly using social media platforms to solicit smugglers in the U.S.
Mob of vandals destroy minority-owned Portland coffee shop before ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event
Loretta Guzman, owner of Bison Coffeehouse, said Friday that friends, family, and neighbors volunteered to help clean up the broken glass and mess left by the criminals.
“I’ve hosted coffee with a cop, maybe like three times in the past,” Guzman told “Fox & Friends First.”
She said she was approached to host again, but this time the feedback from customers was mostly negative when she advertised it on Instagram.
“I quit looking at it. People I know in the community were like, thank you, and [asking] ‘will you please do this?’ And I was like, yes. And then I woke up to my neighbor calling me and letting me know, hey, all your windows are busted out,” she told Carley Shimkus.
Showgirls targeted in Las Vegas stabbing attack after rebuffing suspect’s request for photo: report
The man accused of killing two people and wounding six others in an “unprovoked” attack on the Las Vegas Strip went into a fit of rage after a group of showgirls refused to take a picture with him, according to officials and a local report.
Yoni Barrios, 32, approached the group of women on the famous Las Vegas Strip on Thursday and said he was a chef, local news station KTNV reported. Holding what police described as a “large knife with a long blade,” he asked the women if they would pose for a photograph with him — then began attacking when they rebuffed him, the outlet reported.
Barrios stabbed eight people — a mix of tourists and residents — just after 11:40 a.m. local time on the sidewalk near the Wynn Las Vegas, police said. Two people — Las Vegas residents Brent Allan Hallett, 47, and Maris Mareen DiGiovanni, 30 — could not be saved, officials said.
Battling fires from water-damaged EVs ‘ties up resources’ in Hurricane Ian recovery, Florida fire dept says
“It’s just the allocation of resources that we have to put towards these fires,” North Collier Assistant Fire Chief James Hammond told FOX Business’ Madison Alworth in an appearance on “Varney & Co.” Friday. “And it just ties up resources a lot longer.”
A top Florida state official warned Thursday that firefighters have battled a number of fires caused by electric vehicle (EV) batteries waterlogged from Hurricane Ian.
EV batteries that have been waterlogged in the wake of the hurricane are at risk of corrosion, which could lead to unexpected fires, according to Jimmy Patronis, the state’s top financial officer and fire marshal.
“They take up to two hours to cool the batteries, to keep them out of a runaway situation,” the assistant fire chief explained. “And in some cases where we don’t have a water source, we have to just secure the area and let them burn because we can’t get enough water to them.”
Kanye West says upcoming concert was canceled, blames ‘White Lives Matter’ shirts
Kanye West posted on Instagram that his upcoming Los Angeles show has been canceled, just hours after his bombshell interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News Channel.
In the post, which was quickly deleted, he wrote, “My Sofi Stadium show on November 4th just got canceled. I wonder if it had something to do with my White Lives Matter tee, what y’all think?”
He also shared a screenshot of a text message telling him that SoFi is not available, due to the inability to staff the event.
The Instagram post comes on the heels of West receiving criticism over his “White Lives Matter” shirts. He defended them on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Exclusive: Letter on Hunter Biden’s Laptop Shows 2017 Deal with Qatar Undermining Trump Administration
The letter — retrieved from the “Laptop from Hell” by Congressman Darrell Issa’s (R-CA) office after being in a previously unreadable format — shows James Biden, President Biden’s brother, making an overture to an associate of Qatari Sheikh Abdulla Bin Mohammed Al Thani.
They say, “my family could provide a wealth of introductions and business opportunities at the highest levels,” despite unfavorable policies of the “fractured” and “beleaguered” then-Trump administration for Qatar.
The letter, dated August 1, 2017, to be relayed to the Sheikh, criticizes the Trump administration as having a “fractured nature” and as being “beleaguered by major issues that are not soon to be resolved” — offering to help in “effectuating the vision” of the Sheikh.
Through his family’s “deep and wide” relationships, which he boasts have “lasted through many years and many administrations,” Biden proposes partnership for a “different vision” than the Trump government’s of American interest and U.S.-Qatari relations.
Buyer’s remorse: Sharon Osbourne wants her nearly $1 million donation to BLM back, agrees with Kanye that ‘everybody matters’
This time, she publicly expressed agreement with rapper Kanye “Ye” West, who recently wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt alongside conservative commentator Candace Owens at a Paris fashion show. West followed up that shirt by denouncing Black Lives Matter as a “scam.”
“Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam,” West wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post. “Now it’s over. You’re welcome.”
Though the shirt and the post sparked backlash from many in the entertainment industry, Sharon Osbourne came to West’s defense and claimed she now wants a refund for a BLM donation she made previously.
“We gave $900,000 dollars to that,” Osbourne told TMZ earlier this week, “and I’d like my money back!
“I wish [West] could have said that before,” she added, laughing.
Uvalde school district suspends full police force months after shooting
The school district in Uvalde, Texas, suspended its entire police force on Friday, five months after a shooting in which 19 children and two teachers were killed, the district said in a statement.
The moved followed a wave of outrage over the hiring of a former Texas state trooper who was part of the hesitant law enforcement response during the May shooting at Robb elementary school.
School leaders also put two members of the district police department on administrative leave, one of whom chose to retire instead, according to a statement released by the Uvalde school district.
Judicial Watch Sues to Uncover Details of Ashli Babbitt’s Shooter’s Special Housing at Joint Base Andrews
The unarmed Babbitt was shot and killed as she allegedly climbed through a broken interior window in the United States Capitol. She was a 14-year Air Force veteran. The identity of the shooter was kept secret by Congress, the Justice Department, and DC police for eight months until Byrd went public in August 2021 to try to defend his killing of Babbitt.
Judicial Watch filed suit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia after Joint Base Andrews, the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department, and the FBI failed to respond to three July 2022 FOIA requests about Byrd’s housing at Joint Base Andrews while his name as the shooter of Ashli Babbitt was being withheld from the public by the government.
In its complaint, Judicial Watch explained to the court that it had asked all three government agencies for all records relating to the billeting of Byrd at Joint Base Andrews during the period from January 6, 2021, to July 2022, including authorization papers, housing, meals, transportation, and visitor logs.
“This is a rather extraordinary January 6 cover-up of why the Defense Department was involved with the aftermath of the improper police killing of an unarmed woman (and a veteran),” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

“Several recent actions by the Department reinforce the conclusion that the Justice Department is using its federal law enforcement authority as a weapon against the administration’s political opponents,” the Republican congressmen said in a letter to both Jacqueline Romero, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and Attorney General Merrick Garland. .
“Since the unprecedented leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Justice Department has politicized enforcement of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act.”
They continued: “We write to conduct oversight of your authorization of a dawn raid of the home of a pro-life leader, in front of his wife and seven children, when he had offered to voluntarily cooperate with authorities.”
In the letter, first obtained by The Daily Signal, Jordan and Johnson reference the FBI’s raid on the home of Mark Houck, a Catholic father arrested for allegedly pushing a pro-abortion activist who allegedly harassed his son.

Amid Major Military Setbacks In Ukraine, Russia Replaces Eastern Military District Commander
As Ukraine continues to liberate settlements in its eastern region from occupying Russian troops, Moscow has reportedly replaced another top commander in its armed forces.
The head of Russia’s North Caucasus region of Daghestan, Sergei Melikov, wrote on Telegram on October 7 that North Caucasus native Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov had been appointed to lead the Eastern Military District.
The district is based in Russia’s Far East, but much of its personnel is currently taking part in Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
Muradov, who among other Russian officials has been slapped with Western sanctions, led troops in Ukraine’s eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, parts of which have been under Moscow-backed separatists’ control since 2014.

The violence took place on Wednesday in San Miguel Totolopan, Guerrero, where gunmen shot at the local city hall and then moved to a nearby home where they killed 18 men including Mayor Conrado Mendoza Almeida, former Mayor Juan Mendoza Acosta, other city officials, law enforcement, and relatives. Three other men sustained gunshot injuries. Authorities have only been able to identify 10 of the victims.
While a motive has not been revealed, Guerrero has a long history cartel violence for control of lucrative drug trafficking routes and production areas. On social media, a criminal organization calling themselves the “Tequileros” took responsibility, claiming it was part of a turf war.
Despite the state having a governor from Mexico’s ruling party, authorities have not been able to control the violence. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador continues to give assurances about improving security conditions in the country.

On Monday, while she was cooking dinner for her family, Caroline Farrow — an activist and outspoken critic of modern far-left gender ideology — was taken from her home, frisked “for drugs”, and arrested by Surrey Police.
“One minute I was making dinner for my kids and then next I was having my socks checked for drugs. This took up an entire shift. What an absolute waste of police time,” she said.
Mrs Farrow claims that the officers entered her home “without a warrant”, sharing footage of what appears to be a large officer barging through her front door. She claimed that the officers then seized her electronic devices, including a tablet used by her special needs daughter to do her homework and listen to Harry Potter audiobooks.
Sanctions War: British National Grid Warns Country Faces Rolling Blackouts Come Winter
National Grid, the privately-owned business which runs — and owns — much of Britain’s gas and electricity transmission network, has warned that energy supply shortages could see regular three-hour blackouts strike the country, as the effects of the ongoing Russo-Western sanctions look to worsen.
“The invasion of Ukraine by Russia and resultant reduction in gas supplies to continental Europe has created unprecedented uncertainty for energy markets,” the company said it a recent outlook on the gas situation, reported by Bloomberg.
“As an expert and responsible operator of Great Britain’s electricity system it is incumbent on us to… factor in external factors and risks beyond our control like the unprecedented turmoil and volatility in energy markets in Europe and beyond,” explained of National Grid’s electricity system executive director, Fintan Slye, in comments quoted by The Telegraph.
Half of Teens Worldwide Say Jesus ‘Offers Hope,’ Only 6 Percent Say He’s ‘Irrelevant’: Poll
Most teens around the world have either a positive or neutral view of Jesus, with about half saying He “offers hope” and only 6 percent saying He’s “irrelevant,” according to a new Barna survey.
The survey of nearly 25,000 teens ages 13-17 in 26 countries found that 46 percent say they personally believe Jesus “offers hope to people,” 43 percent say He “personally cares for people,” 38 percent believe He is “trustworthy” and 37 percent say He is “generous.” About half (49 percent) also say Jesus is “loving.”
The teens in the survey spoke 17 different languages. Few had a negative view of Jesus. Barna released the report online Wednesday.
