New FBI whistleblower claims FBI told agents not to look into laptop
The FBI deliberately dragged its feet on the Hunter Biden investigation and told agents not to look into the Hunter Biden laptop, according to new whistleblowers who spoke with Sen. Ron Johnson.
Johnson, R-Wisc., sent a letter to DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Tuesday bringing forth the new whistleblower claims.
‘Recently, my office heard from individuals with knowledge of the FBI’s apparent corruption,’ Johnson said.
‘After the FBI obtained the Hunter Biden laptop from the Wilmington, DE computer shop, these whistleblowers stated that local FBI leadership told employees, “you will not look at that Hunter Biden laptop” and that the FBI is “not going to change the outcome of the election again,”‘ Johnson wrote to Horowitz.
Johnson is demanding Horowitz look into the FBI’s handling of the Hunter Biden laptop.
Man robbed and held hostage after meeting woman from dating app
The 30-year-old reported the crime to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Saturday, claiming he’d matched with a 19-year-old woman on the Canadian dating app Plenty of Fish.
He met her in a Parkland apartment complex when, moments later, an armed man, 22, entered the apartment and ordered that the other man undress and hand over his money, according to the sheriff’s office. Meanwhile, the woman took nude photos of the victim.
Three hours passed with the victim held hostage with the pair while they attempted to transfer $6,000 from his bank account to theirs.
Every transaction and app they tried was flagged as fraudulent. Finally, they released the victim but threatened to share his nude photos if he reported the crime to anyone.
Texas Bans BlackRock and Other Financial Firms Over ESG Energy Crisis
Glenn Hegar, the state comptroller, on Wednesday published a list of the financial companies that will be prohibited from entering into most contracts with state and local governments.
“The environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) movement has produced an opaque and perverse system in which some financial companies no longer make decisions in the best interest of their shareholders or their clients, but instead use their financial clout to push a social and political agenda shrouded in secrecy,” Hegar said in a statement.
Texas law put in place by Republicans last year requires the comptroller to prepare and maintain a list of financial companies that boycott energy companies.
The list comes after a months-long investigation by the comptroller’s office that looked into more than 150 companies to determine if they were refusing to deal with or penalizing the oil and gas industry.

President Biden on Wednesday announced a student loan handout plan that essentially would use taxpayer money to pay off up to $10,000 of student debt per borrower making under $125,000 per year.
That means Americans may be footing a nearly $300 billion bill if Biden goes through with the reported plan — plus extends a repayment pause to next year.
The nation’s federal student debt now tops $1.6 trillion after ballooning for years. More than 43 million Americans have federal student debt, with almost a third owing less than $10,000 and more than half owing less than $20,000, according to the latest federal data.
California to ban sales of all new gas-powered cars beginning in 2035
California regulators are expected to ban the sale of all new gasoline-powered vehicles beginning in 2035, a major step for the largest auto market in the United States and one that the Democratic government hopes can accelerate the transition toward electric vehicle adoption.
The rule is expected to take effect Thursday following a vote by the California Air Resources Board, according to the New York Times. It also sets interim targets to help phase out the sale of internal combustion engine models: By 2026, it states, 35% of new cars sold must be zero-emissions vehicles — an amount that climbs to 68% in 2030. Currently, just 12% of new cars sold in the state are electric vehicles.
California is the largest auto market in the U.S., meaning its actions are likely to have an outsize impact on the auto industry. It would be the first ban on internal combustion engines within the U.S.

Dr. Robert Malone, who helped develop the mRNA technology used in COVID-19 vaccines, is seeking $50.35 million in compensatory and punitive damages from The Washington Post for alleged defamation.
Malone, an outspoken critic of COVID-19 vaccines and countermeasures, on Aug. 19 filed a lawsuit against the newspaper, owned by Jeff Bezos, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
Malone’s defamation claims arise from a Jan. 24 article by The Washington Post — “A vaccine scientist’s discredited claims have bolstered a movement of misinformation.”
The article, published one day after the “Defeat the Mandates” rally in Washington, D.C., draws on Malone’s speech at the event.
Malone is demanding a jury trial.

Ethics Watchdog Demands Investigation into Dina Titus for Allegedly Abusing House Proxy Voting Rules
The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) called for the investigation into Titus for voting by proxy 114 times as of August 18 while repeatedly posting pictures of herself on Twitter attending political events for her congressional reelection campaign.
The watchdog explained that Titus filed a letter with the House clerk stating she was “unable to physically attend proceedings in the House Chamber due to the ongoing public health emergency” and assigned her ability to vote to a different member. However, in multiple such instances, Titus contradicted her statements by campaigning for reelection or attending political events.
The complaint detailed some of the times Titus attended in-person campaign or political events while “unable to physically attend proceedings”:

On Wednesday’s “CNN Newsroom,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) responded to a question on what she’d say to people who paid off their loan debt and now will have to bail out those that may make more than them by stating that the president’s debt cancelation plan is popular and debt cancelation leads to “more economic activity.”
Host Bianna Golodryga asked, “As you know, this hasn’t been received well by everyone in Congress. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) says that this plan is a slap in the face to working-class families. Let me ask you, what do you say to a family that says, listen, I just spent years paying off my debt. I didn’t have the federal government helping me out, bailing me out. And now, I may be doing just that for a family that, at some point, may be earning more than I do.”
Stacey Abrams received six-figure income from mysterious corporate entity
FIRST ON FOX: Democratic Georgia gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams received over $100,000 from a mysterious limited liability company that doesn’t appear to have any online presence outside of her financial disclosure form and corporate records, a Fox News Digital review found.
Abrams’ financial disclosure form, released in March, lists Dream Project Partners Inc. in multiple sections, including “statement of income” and “direct ownership interests in business entity.” The Georgia Democrat listed herself as a “Board Member and Shareholder” and recorded in the income section that she received $50,000 in 2021 and $100,000 in 2022.
The financial form says she has no duties with Dream Project Partners Inc, and its “principal activity” description is also vague.

On the morning of July 31, a man arrived from Peru, however, agents with Mexico’s National Migration Institute (INM) denied him entry and had him sent to a room called Rechazos 1 or Denials 1, where foreign nationals are held until they board the next available flight to their home country.
The INM process calls for travelers to fill out a form declaring their valuables and, in the case of cash, the money is counted in front of witnesses and placed in a sealed envelope until departure, the INM official revealed.
Time passes and the man then asks to check his bag and discovered that $3,000 USD was missing before confronting the officers. Both men claimed that no one had entered the room.
Floods wreak havoc across Pakistan; 903 dead since mid-June
Thousands whose homes were swept away now live in tents, miles away from their inundated villages and towns, after being rescued by soldiers, local disaster workers and volunteers.
The National Disaster Management Authority said Wednesday that 126 people were killed in flood-related incidents in the past 48 hours, with most of the victims being women and children.
The flooding has further exacerbated Pakistan’s economic crisis. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif issued an appeal Wednesday from abroad, urging philanthropists to help flood-affected areas in Pakistan.
Sharif is currently in the Gulf Arab state of Qatar, where he arrived on Tuesday, seeking financial assistance, loans and foreign investment for his cash-strapped Islamic nation. His government has promised to compensate those who lost homes in the floods.

Russia Strikes Ukraine’s Military Targets With Uragan Rocket Launcher Systems As War Rages
As the ruthless war in Eastern Europe shows no signs of subsiding, video footage of Ukrainian military targets being struck by Uragan multiple rocket launcher systems has been made public by the Russian Defense Ministry.
Taking to Twitter, the Russian state-controlled news television network, RT, released the video.
In the clip, it can be seen that several missiles have been fired from the Uragan rocket launcher systems during the nighttime. In the later part of the video, the launchers were seen to be carrying missiles.

The lethal attack took place in Chaplyne, a town of about 3,500 people in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ukrainian news agencies quoted Zelenskyy as telling the U.N. Security Council via video. The president’s office also reported that an 11-year-old child was killed by rocket fire in another part of the region.
Ukraine had been bracing for especially heavy attacks surrounding the national holiday that commemorates Ukraine’s declaration of independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. Wednesday also marked the six-month point in the war.
Ahead of the holiday, Kyiv authorities banned large gatherings in the capital through Thursday for fear of missile strikes.
Residents of the capital, which has been largely spared in recent months, woke up Wednesday to air raid sirens, but no immediate strikes followed. As the day wore on, Russian bombardments were reported in the country’s east, west and central areas, with the most serious attack apparently at the train station.
