DOJ charges Proud Boys leaders with seditious conspiracy over Jan. 6 attack
The seditious conspiracy charges, announced in a grand jury indictment returned Monday, escalate the case against the Proud Boys and their leader Enrique Tarrio, who now face some of the most severe charges related to the attack on the Capitol.
The Justice Department unveiled similar seditious conspiracy charges against an anti-government militia group, the Oath Keepers and their leader Stewart Rhodes, in January 2022.
The new indictment also included a second charge against the group: conspiracy to prevent the police and Congress from discharging their official duties.
The indictment underscores DOJ’s contention that the Proud Boys played a central role in stoking and amplifying the violence on Jan. 6. Prosecutors say the group “directed” and “mobilized” the crowd and helped move people toward the foot of the Capitol by removing barriers.

The results seem to indicate that the House Jan. 6 select committee has some work to do regarding the shift in public opinion as it prepares for its first public hearing this Thursday.
A series of six to eight hearings are expected to take place throughout June, with the goal of making a case to the public about the committee’s findings over the past year.
The committee is composed of seven Democrats and two Republicans, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), who broke with party leadership after Republicans decided to boycott the panel.

California security surveillance company curbs crime through AI, real-time human intervention, CEO says
Property crime has increased in several major cities across California in recent years. San Francisco, for example, has repeatedly had the most property crime among the 25 largest U.S. cities in four of the last six years, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Deep Sentinel, founded in 2016, uses smart security cameras with AI. If potential threats are detected, human guards are alerted and can speak directly to potential criminals with two-way audio and contact police.
“We use a combination of different types of technology to detect potential suspicious activity before it turns into a crime,” Selinger said. “And then in real time, we have live human being guards who are notified.”
“All it takes is letting someone know who is about to commit a crime that they’re watching and the police are on their way, and they stop,” Selinger continued.
Hochul approves gun control bill regulating semi-automatic rifles
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul signed off on a gun control bill on Monday, placing tighter restrictions on gun ownership amid a series of shootings across the country.
The legislation allows New York to regulate semi-automatic rifles in the same way it regulates semi-automatic pistols, requiring gun owners to have permits to possess semi-automatic rifles and requiring applicants to be at least 21 years old.
Other measures include outlawing body armor for everyone except law enforcement and first responders, as well as people whose employment requires them to wear armor. An expansion of New York’s “red flag” law, which prevents people who show signs of being a threat to themselves or others from purchasing or possessing any kind of gun, was also included in the bill.
Chattanooga mayor pledges to get crime under control after deadly weekend shooting
Tim Kelly joined “Americas Newsroom” to discuss the need to get tougher on crime to stop mass shootings.
“I am committed to funding the department for anything and everything that it needs to combat the problem here,” Kelly said.
Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy said 14 people were gunshot victims during Sunday’s incident, while three other people were struck by vehicles. Two people died from gunshot wounds and a third person died from injuries sustained when they were struck by a vehicle fleeing the scene, according to reporting from Fox 13.
Police suspect that multiple shooters were involved in the incident near Mary’s Bar and Grill on McCallie Avenue just after 2 A.M. Sunday, with several of the victims remaining in critical condition.
Tennessee woman allegedly fires gunshots into house with children inside
Johari Jenkins, 23, of Memphis was charged in May with multiple counts of criminal attempt first-degree murder and aggravated assault, as well as other things, according to court records reported on by local Fox 13.
Memphis Police were called to a woman’s home May 2 after she reported that a suspect, later identified as Jenkins, allegedly fired gunshots into the house where she was with her three children.
Jenkins later went to the breezeway on the second floor and allegedly fired four to five more times through the living room window.
Investigators also spoke with a witness who said she heard the shots from a nearby apartment. The witness reportedly told police that she heard Jenskins yell, “Since I already got a charge on me, I might as well get another one today by killing you and your kids, b***h.”

Video footage posted to social media shows South Street bustling with people late Saturday night before screams rang out. A stampede of people then ran from the area, the video shows.
The South Street shooting left three dead and 11 injured in the city’s Queen Village neighborhood. South Street is one of Philadelphia’s most popular areas, boasting bars, restaurants and an eclectic array of shops and stores.
“We are expecting to approve charges later today for at least two people in connection to what we anticipate are non-fatal shootings,” Krasner said.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said Sunday at a press conference that the “genesis” of the shooting could have stemmed from a fight between one of the deceased males and another man.

VIDEO: Two Workers Attacked with Chain Inside Manhattan Store
The incident occurred at 1:40 p.m. inside the store located at 27th Street and 6th avenue, ABC 7 reported Friday.
According to officers, a man allegedly stole approximately $1,745 worth of items and, as he left the shop, threatened to hurt the workers on duty at the time.
“Then about 10 minutes later, he returned with a bike chain and started swinging,” the outlet said.
Video footage showed the suspect wearing a white t-shirt and a backward baseball cap leaning over the counter with the chain.

After Jessica asks if the suspect is “serious,” he aims the gun at the ceiling before firing off a shot, and the employee subsequently retrieves a small bag holding money from the safe, according to the video.
“Here, get out,” she says, placing the bag in his backpack, the footage showed. The boy made off with thousands of dollars, police said.
“It was a kid! It was just a little boy with a black bag! … He was just a little boy. He was probably like, I don’t know, like maybe 10? Ten or 11?” the clerk said in her 911 call, according to WOOD-TV. “He was so young. I didn’t know what — I thought he was (expletive) with me.”
California: No. 1 in Gun Control, No. 1 in ‘Active Shooter Incidents’
An FBI report on ‘Active Shooter Incidents’ in 2021 shows that California was the number one state for such incidents, with six incidents total.
California is also number one for gun law strength, the Mike Bloomberg-affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety noted.
According to the FBI, there were 61 “active shooter incidents” across the country in 2021 and 12 of the incidents met the definition of a “mass killing.”

Stacey Abrams group increased anti-police funding shortly after she joined its board, and with her support
Abrams’ campaign previously told Fox News Digital that the second-time Democratic Georgia gubernatorial candidate does not hold the same views as the Marguerite Casey Foundation, which she joined in May 2021. The group has voiced support for defunding and abolishing the police on several occasions.
Abrams, who has tried to distance herself from the hardline rhetoric of the “defund the police” movement in the past, has received at least $52,500 in income from the foundation, according to her financial disclosures.
And while Abrams has remained tight-lipped on the defunding issue on the campaign trail, a press release from the foundation issued weeks after she became one of its governors shows that she supported its expanded anti-police efforts.

The prime minister won the support of 211 MPs but 41% of his party voted to get rid of him, with many citing his lack of repentance over the Partygate scandal and the public’s loss of trust in his leadership. It was the worst verdict on a sitting prime minister by their own party in recent times.
Although Johnson’s allies claimed the vote as a victory, many Conservative MPs including some of his supporters believe the attempted coup is the beginning of the end for his three-year premiership.
With so many of his party having voted against him, the prime minister has effectively lost his majority support in parliament, with the risk that his government is paralysed.

Pentecost Massacre in Nigeria Claims the Lives of More Than 50 Christians
“We were about to round off service. I had even asked people to start leaving, that was how we started hearing gunshots from different angles,” said Father Andrew Abayomi, one of the priests at St. Francis Church.
“We hid inside the church but some people had left when the attack happened. We locked ourselves in the church for 20 minutes. When we heard that they had left, we opened the church and rushed victims to the hospital,” the priest said.
An initial report from State police spokeswoman Ibukun Odunlami suggested the militants also set off explosives during the attack. While no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, the targeting of Christians strongly suggests Islamic extremists were behind the assault.
Israeli scientists discover the cause of ADHD
This new study was carried out by researchers from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and Soroka-University Medical Center and was published in the peer-reviewed academic journal Nature Communications.
According to the new study, that gene may just be CDH2, should that gene mutate.
CDH2 is a gene that encodes N-cadherin, which is responsible for helping in brain synapse activity and formation. A mutation in CDH2, however, alters this activity. This, in turn, impacts molecular pathways and dopamine levels in two specific brain structures: the ventral midbrain and the prefrontal cortex, both of which are involved in ADHD.
This was tested by using CRISPR to insert this type of mutation in homologous mouse genes, which caused hereditary hyperactivity.
The implications of this finding could help pave the way for further understanding how ADHD works, and how it can be treated and managed.

In a move that many Christians have decried as “blasphemous,” marchers paraded the mannequin decorated with BDSM studded black leather and topped with a blue Marian veil complete with halo.
“A blasphemous and ignoble attack, clearly aimed at the faith of all Christians!” wrote Matteo Fraioli, Italian Campaign Director at CitizenGOit, who protested the local mayor’s use of public funds to finance the spectacle.
Fraioli also underscored the coincidence that on the same day as the Cremona Pride Parade, more than 50 Christians were brutally slaughtered in the church of San Francis in Owo, Nigeria, during the celebration of Pentecost.
“We can no longer tolerate this type of demonstration with the clear intention of wanting to offend and deride the faith of millions of people, the same faith for which millions of Christians are persecuted, kidnapped, abused and killed every year in the world,” Fraioli wrote in an open letter to the mayor of Cremona, Gianluca Galimberti.

South Korea and the United States fired eight surface-to-surface missiles early on Monday off South Korea’s east coast in response to North Korea’s short-range ballistic missile launches on Sunday, the South’s Yonhap news agency reported on Monday.
The action is a demonstration of “the capability and readiness to carry out precision strike” against the source of North Korea’s missile launches or the command and support centers, Yonhap cited the South Korean military as saying.
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, who took office last month, has vowed to take a tougher line against the North and agreed with US President Joe Biden at a May summit in Seoul to upgrade joint military drills and their combined deterrence posture.
Over 400,000 Ukrainian Migrants to Be Put On Unemployment Benefits in Germany
This is the assessment of Germany’s Federal Employment Agency, which is already reportedly giving handouts to millions of migrants under the so-called “Hartz IV” scheme.
According to a report by Die Welt, hundreds of thousands of people claiming to be refugees from Ukraine will sign on to the German dole over the coming number of weeks, though the agency also reportedly emphasises that these numbers can fluctuate significantly over time.
With that being said, the employment agency believes that it will be giving handouts to just under 800,000 migrants by the end of 2022.
“746,000 Ukrainian employable beneficiaries are expected in the job centres by the end of the year,” a paper on the crisis penned by the agency and seen by Die Welt reportedly reads.
