GRAPHIC: 5 Dead in 2nd Fatal Human Smuggling Crash in 24 Hours near Border in Texas
For the second time in less than 24 hours, migrants are dead following a crash as smugglers attempted to avoid arrest.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials report that four migrants died and two others are in critical condition when a Jeep driven by a suspected human smuggler crashed into a tractor-trailer while fleeing from law enforcement. Officials report the driver is in critical condition (brain dead).
Texas DPS Lt. Chris Olivarez told Breitbart Texas that a Border Patrol agent attempted to stop a suspected human smuggler near Encinal, Texas, on Thursday morning. The driver failed to yield leading to a law enforcement pursuit.
Olivarez said the pursuit ended when the driver of the white Jeep crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer.
Crime Wave: Woman Fatally Shot Pushing Stroller in New York City’s Upper East Side
The incident occurred “on East 95th street when an unknown person approached her and fired a single shot into her head from a very close range,” New York City Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell said during a press conference Wednesday night.
“Immediately after the shooting, the suspect fled the scene on foot,” Sewell added. “He is described as a male who was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants, and black pants — all black. At this time, there are no arrests.”
New York City Mayor Eric Adams used the press briefing to talk about guns, claiming that Wednesday night’s shooting in the Upper East Side was “a result” of firearms being “readily accessible,” adding that it is “a national problem.”

Homeowner Joe Teague told KNBC-TV the group — which consisted of “ladies and men” — “kicked the door open,” after which “the big guy, he came at me” and the rest of the group “started throwing objects that [were] in the house at me.”
Teague added to the station that “when they broke in, they got a lot of my equipment, and I approached them to put them under citizens arrest,” he noted to the station, adding that “I kept telling them, ‘I have a shotgun with three shells in it,’ but I actually only had one. And they kept throwing stuff at me.”
With that, Teague fired his shotgun once, hitting one of the intruders, KNBC reported.

Courthouse News reports Mark McCloskey and his wife Patricia are accusing a far-left member of Congress, Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., and a state lawmaker of coordinating the mob that descended on their home and terrorized them.
The case also names state Rep. Rasheen Aldridge as a defendant.
The filing charges that Bush and Aldridge both are leaders of a leftist organization called Expect Us.
It was on that day, June 28, 2020, that Expect Us set up a “mob” with a plan to “destroy private neighborhoods” and terrorize people, the report explained.
They accuse the defendants of orchestrating the mob that broke into their private gated community and destroyed a 132-year-old historic gate.

The outlook for the U.S. economy is bad and potentially getting worse.
On Thursday, the Commerce Department released new consumer spending numbers showing that the prices Americans are paying for goods and services climbed 6.3% over the past year, as inflation maintained its upward momentum.
Just 24 hours earlier, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell warned, yet again, that his efforts to rein in runaway price increases by raising interest rates may plunge the nation into recession.
And he said it’s worth the risk.
‘The bigger mistake to make—let’s put it that way—would be to fail to restore price stability,’ he said at the European Central Bank’s annual economic policy conference in Portugal.

In March 2018 US Steel announced will restart two blast furnaces and recall 500 employees in Granite City, Illinois following President Trump’s decision to tax steel and aluminum imports.
A total of 800 new US steel and aluminum jobs were announced in two days.
After President Trump enacted tariffs on foreign steel imports U.S. Steel has decided to restart both furnaces, meaning the return of 800 jobs.
Local St. Louis KSDK reported:
Nearly 1,000 jobs could be in jeopardy at Granite City Steel after the U.S. Steel announced its plans to repurpose the plant’s blast furnaces Wednesday.
Instead, the plant would be sold to a company called SunCoke Energy.
SunCoke would use the blast furnaces to produce a type of crude iron called pig iron.
Carnival cruise brawl caught on camera broke out over alleged cheating, passenger says
Theresa James, who said she is a travel agent, told Fox News Digital that the fight started just before 2 a.m. on the ship’s fifth floor, where a dance club and casino are located.
An alleged threesome between passengers had upset their significant others when they learned of the rendezvous, according to James, who said she witnessed the fight from her door.
Beer bottles were smashed, and a woman may have been cut during the chaos, James said.
The brawl lasted about an hour, according to the travel agent, and took the parties involved from the fifth floor to the ship’s first floor, which James described as a huge distance. She said the altercation wasn’t physical the whole time, and an estimated 60 people may have been involved.

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson sworn in, becoming first Black woman on high court
Jackson was sworn in a few minutes after noon, which was when the retirement of her predecessor, Justice Stephen Breyer, became effective.
Breyer himself helped lead the ceremony, which took place in the Court’s West Conference Room. Breyer administered the judicial oath, and Chief Justice John Roberts administered the constitutional oath, both of which are required for all justices.
Jackson’s husband Patrick Jackson and their two daughters were in attendance.
The selection of Jackson fulfilled Biden’s promise to choose a Black woman. The president decided on Jackson in late February, and the Senate confirmed her in early April with a vote of 53-47.
Supreme Court deals Biden climate agenda serious blow with EPA decision
The Supreme Court dealt a significant blow to the Biden administration’s climate change agenda, ruling Thursday that the Environmental Protection Agency cannot pass sweeping regulations that could overhaul entire industries without additional congressional approval.
“Capping carbon dioxide emissions at a level that will force a nationwide transition away from the use of coal to generate electricity may be a sensible ‘solution to the crisis of the day,’ But it is not plausible that Congress gave EPA the authority to adopt on its own such a regulatory scheme in Section 111(d),” Chief Justice John Roberts said in the Court’s opinion, referencing Section 111 of the Clean Air Act. “A decision of such magnitude and consequence rests with Congress itself, or an agency acting pursuant to a clear delegation from that representative body.”
The case stemmed from the Obama administration’s 2015 Clean Power Plan which aimed to reduce carbon emissions at power plants by pushing a shift from coal, to natural gas, and ultimately to wind and solar energy.
Supreme Court hands Biden victory, allows end to ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy
The Supreme Court ruled Thursday in a 5-4 decision that the Biden administration can repeal the Trump administration’s Migrant Protection Protocols, commonly known as the “Remain in Mexico” policy, reversing a lower court ruling.
Under that policy, migrants seeking entry into the U.S. had to stay in Mexico as they awaited hearings. The Trump administration put the policy in place so that migrants would not be released into the U.S.
The Biden administration had tried to repeal the policy but was previously blocked by a lower court.
At issue was whether the Department of Homeland Security’s suspension and subsequent termination of the policy violated a federal law that requires that migrants be detained or, if they arrived from a contiguous country, sent back.
Glenn Greenwald: Journalist Echo Chamber on Twitter Led to Cassidy Hutchinson Fail
Pulitzer-winning writer and reporter Glenn Greenwald castigated the state of modern journalism in a tweet thread yesterday, arguing that the progressive ideological echo-chamber that currently governs the industry is responsible for the repeated spread of untrue stories like Russiagate and Cassidy Hutchinson’s now-infamous claim that Donald Trump grabbed the steering wheel of a presidential limo.
“As any lawyer will tell you (if being honest), few things are less reliable than a proceeding with no adversarial component. These hearings have zero,” Greenwald said of the increasingly farcical of the January 6th committee. “One can assign whatever blame one wants for that, but perhaps it means journalists should be…skeptical…of assertions there.”
Greenwald slammed fellow journalists for conducting their work in an echo-chamber, insulated from potentially useful feedback from conservative reporters.
“If, yesterday, you followed conservative journalists or analysts — and really, why would anyone do such a thing: just block and ignore them — you’d have heard instant skepticism even over the physics of Hutchinson’s claim that Trump was able to grab the wheel of the Beast,” said Greenwald.

Russian forces withdraw from strategic Snake Island in the Black Sea
Russian forces had faced relentless attacks as Ukraine sought to retake the island it lost control of in the early days of the war.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the withdrawal was “a gesture of goodwill” and shows the world that Russia “does not interfere with the efforts of the UN to organize a humanitarian corridor for the export of agricultural products from the territory of Ukraine.”
Ukraine said the last remaining Russian forces on the island fled after being bombarded with Ukrainian artillery and missile strikes.
