Elon Musk goes scorched-earth on NBC after Peacock host’s attack, notes network’s worst scandals

“NBC basically saying Republicans are Nazis …” Musk wrote in a Monday tweet, responding to a video clip posted by another user showing Mehdi Hasan railing against Musk, calling him a “not-so-bright billionaire,” and complaining about his purchase of the social media giant.

“Same org that covered up Hunter Biden laptop story, had Harvey Weinstein story early & killed it & built Matt Lauer his rape office. Lovely people,” Musk added in another tweet, listing some of the network’s most notorious scandals in recent years.

Among the scandals mentioned by Musk were the Hunter Biden laptop story, which NBC frequently ignored despite revelations the laptop was not “Russian disinformation” as some news outlets claimed, as well as former reporter Ronan Farrow’s allegation that NB  suppressed his story on the raft of sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

The Microsoft founder said he did not want to sound “doom and gloom” but warned there was a risk an “even more transmissive and even more fatal” variant could be generated.

He told the Financial Times (FT) in an interview the risk of that happening is “way above five per cent” and would mean the world has yet to see the worst of the pandemic, if his predictions are indeed correct.

Gates cautioned that while the war in Ukraine dominates the international agenda, global leaders should not to lose sight of the health crisis, even as he flies around the world relentlessly lecturing about climate issues.

It’s Getting Even Worse: Inflationary Pressures Strengthened at U.S. Factories in April

The Federal Reserve’s March rate hike did not relieve inflationary pressures faced by U.S. manufacturers, survey results released Monday suggested.

Manufacturers passed on the higher materials and labor costs to customers, according to the survey. The increase in selling prices was the fastest since October.

“Both input costs and selling price inflation surged higher, the latter accelerating to a near-record rate, as firms faced rising energy prices, ongoing supplier-driven price hikes amid strained supply chains, and rising wage costs,” said Chris Williamson, chief business economist at S&P Global.

A source operating under the umbrella of U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed to Breitbart Texas that Border Patrol agents apprehended just over 201,000 migrants who illegally crossed the border in April between ports of entry. CBP reports dating back to the Clinton administration show the previous high for April apprehensions was slightly more than 180,000.

The April apprehensions reported are down slightly from March when agents apprehended more than 221,000, CBP reports indicate.

The back-to-back months of more than 422,000 migrants represent a nearly 20 percent increase over the near-record levels of last year. During the same two months in 2021, agents apprehended just over 352,000.

Solar Mandate | Full Measure

In 2020, California became the first state to require solar power on all new homes.

The mandate is important not just for the Golden State, but because it’s seen as a prototype other states will copy.

Now, activists are pursuing mandatory rooftop solar in at least ten more states. So we set off to California to find out how it’s going to so far.

Fox 26 News: California Wants to Keep $300 Billion in Spending a Secret

“When it comes to spending your tax dollars, California holds a unique and unpleasant distinction:

It’s the only state in the nation that does not share its line-by-line expenditures with the public. That needs to change.

Each of the other 49 states respond to our open records requests by revealing what they spent and whom they paid. Then, citizens can decide how effective state agencies are at improving their lives.”

California’s seniors lost an estimated $10.9 billion to fraud in 2020

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – April 13: Katsumi Iwasaki of San Francisco, who was bilked out of his $400,000 retirement savings in a romance scam, poses for a portrait inside his home on April 13, 2022, in San Francisco, Calif. (Dai Sugano/Bay Area News Group)

Cases of financial fraud against elders like Iwasaki have been slowly growing since 2016, but when pandemic lockdown measures isolated seniors over 65 from family and friends, reported losses to elder fraud jumped by 30% nationwide in 2020, according to a Federal Bureau of Investigation report.

“We are calling this the perfect storm,” said Glen Fishman, who works for the Institute on Aging’s Elder Abuse Prevention Program in San Francisco, which has seen a “huge increase” in scams against the elderly.

One in 10 seniors fall for a range of scams, according to Comparitech, and most never recoup the losses. Instead, they are left with gaping holes in savings meant to support their golden years. The rise in scams comes as one in three Californian seniors already lack the money to meet their basic needs, according to UC Berkeley’s Labor Center.

Driverless Cars | Full Measure

Not long ago, it seemed like science fiction. But today, no fewer than 30 groups have permission to test self-driving cars on America’s highways.

And under a new policy change by the federal government, those cars can soon be produced without even the pretense of backup controls for a human: in other words, no steering wheel, gas pedal, or brake.

On a recent trip to San Francisco, we put the prototype Waymo cars to the test.

Summer Travel | Full Measure

When a federal judge recently threw out the Biden administration’s mask requirement for air travel, plenty of passengers rejoiced, but so did many in the travel industry.

They’d been lobbying for months to ditch masks—saying it hurt their bottom dollar.

Now, they’re relying on a busy summer to get back in the black. Can they do it? Scott Thuman packed his bags to find out.

The war between the Walt Disney Co. and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has alarmed leaders across corporate America and brought about a new round of corporate soul-searching, according to executives and their advisers who spoke to the Wall Street Journal.

The newspaper reported that in private meetings and coaching sessions during the past few weeks, top business leaders have been asking a version of the same question: How can we avoid becoming the next Disney?

“The No. 1 concern CEOs have is, ‘When should I speak out on public issues?’,” Bill George, former chairman and CEO of Medtronic PLC and now a senior fellow at Harvard Business School, told the newspaper “As one CEO said to me, ‘I want to speak out on social issues, but I don’t want to get involved in politics.’ Which I said under my breath, ‘That’s not possible.’ ”

Disney originally declined to weigh in on the Florida legislation but CEO Bob Chapek ultimately caved to the demands of a small fringe of far-left employees and issued a groveling apology.

The comments from Dr. Michelle Morse, the chief medical officer at the New York City Department of Health, came in a series of tweets touting the city’s “birth equity” initiative to expand the “citywide doula program and midwifery”.

“The urgency of this moment is clear,” Morse wrote. “Mortality rates of birthing people are too high, and babies born to Black and Puerto Rican mothers in this city are three times more likely to die in their first year of life than babies born to non-Hispanic White birthing people.”

Morse, who was hired in February last year as the first chief medical officer for the department, also serves as the department’s deputy commissioner for the Center for Health Equity and Community Wellness, which places focus on ending racial inequities.

Twitter page mocking Biden admin’s new disinformation board reels in 150K followers in two days

“The clocks are striking thirteen. Welcome to the Ministry,” a tweet from a satirical account called The U.S. Ministry of Truth reads.

The account, which takes a jab at the newfound power bestowed on Biden’s Homeland Security Department by referencing the culture from George Owell’s infamous “1984” novel, reeled in 150K+ followers in just a couple of days.

Attached to the tweet is a video compilation of discredited claims from various left-wing voices, including former President Barack Obama, Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson and U.S. Chief Medical Adviser Dr. Anthony Fauci – in an effort to highlight disinformation from the side of the political spectrum allegedly not suspect to the board’s scrutiny.

At a press conference, Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton confirmed an arrest warrant has been issued for 56-year-old Assistant Director of Corrections Vicky White on a charge of permitting or facilitating an escape in the first degree.

“We know she participated – now whether she did that willing or if she was coerced, threatened somehow to have participated in this escape, not really sure,” he told reporters Monday. “But we know for sure she did participate.”

Investigators obtained new video showing the patrol vehicle in which White and inmate Casey White left the detention center in on Friday morning, Singleton said.

The video shows the patrol vehicle stop at an intersection just eight minutes after leaving the jail, indicating they never headed to the courthouse before abandoning the vehicle in a nearby parking lot.

The Southeastern Legal Foundation called for an investigation Sunday into whether a school district is violating the privacy rights of students and their families by having students fill out surveys that include questions about their sexual orientation and the political beliefs of their parents.

The conservative legal organization sent a letter on the behalf of a group of concerned parents to Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, R., requesting his office launch an investigation into the Webster Groves School District (WGSD).

The request specifically calls for Missouri’s attorney general to investigate the State Board of Education, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Webster Groves School District and related third parties if the data collected from the surveys violated state and federal law.

Florida mom filing suit after child transitioned at school without her consent: ‘Happening all over’ US

Florida mom and mental health professional January Littlejohn and her attorney Vernadette Broyles discussed the lawsuit and why she is “outraged” over the incident.

“This is happening all over the nation,” Littlejohn warned on “Fox & Friends First” on Monday. “This same protocol is in place in many, many schools across districts everywhere, and even the guides being used to dictate these transgender support plans that cut parents out even have the same language.”

According to Littlejohn, her daughter, who was 13 years old at the time, expressed confusion over gender during the pandemic after a group of friends transitioned to the opposite sex.

She eventually found out the school was working on a “transgender support plan” with her child, but the school initially declined to allow her involvement given she was “protected by a nondiscrimination law.”

SCOTUS unanimously rules Boston violated group’s rights by refusing to fly Christian flag

The question before the court was whether flying the flag as part of a government program was considered government speech if the flag belonged to a private organization, in this case, Camp Constitution. The Supreme Court ruled that it is not.

“We conclude that, on balance, Boston did not make the raising and flying of private groups’ flags a form of government speech,” Justice Stephen Breyer wrote in the court’s opinion, stating that as a result the city improperly violated Camp Constitution’s free speech rights.

In the court’s opinion, Breyer recognized that there was evidence for both sides. He made clear that if this was government speech, Boston would have been within its rights to deny the camp’s application to fly the flag.

“There’s no ‘confusion’ over the Biden Disinformation Board,” Hawley said on Twitter Monday. “Everyone understands exactly what it is – a censorship committee to punish free speech. Dissolve it now.”

In a later tweet, Hawley vowed to introduce legislation aimed at eliminating the board.

“If Joe Biden won’t dissolve his unconstitutional Disinformation Board, Congress should,” he said. “I will introduce legislation this week to eliminate the Board and forbid the government ever to create another one. It’s time to stand up for free speech.”

Hawley’s comments come in response to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who told “Fox News Sunday” that the Biden administration “”could have done a better job in communicating” the intent of the board.

“It is great to find something even after all those years of excavation,” said Netanel Elimelech, director of the park run by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority. “We found a lot of clay sherds lying around, but to find something complete with signs of its use is pretty nice. You can still see the black marks of burning from when the lamp was used. It throws you back (in time.)”

The archaeological complex on Mount Gerizim, located outside of Nablus, was excavated in the 1990s under the leadership of archaeologist Dr. Yitzhak Magen. Recently conservation and accessibility work has been undertaken by the Nature and Parks Authority and the Civil Administration.

The lamp was discovered while workers were clearing out an area around the stone bath from debris by hand, said Elimelech.

“We were clearing real close to the surface and the lamp just popped out,” he said.

“But they don’t do that – instead they just attack, and attack and attack.”

“It may sound like science fiction, but it’s real.”

Thus tweeted Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennet, accompanied by a highly-produced video of Israel’s new laser-based air defense system, the “Iron Beam,” destroying incoming ordinance in the Negev Desert.

The successful testing of the device joins a recently announced US Navy test of a similar weapons platform called Layered Laser Defense (LLD). LLD was tested at the High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, as laser air defense systems begin to move from concept to action.

“Innovative laser systems like the LLD have the potential to redefine the future of naval combat operations,” Rear Adm. Lorin C. Selby, Chief of Naval Research, said in a statement
