At least three people were shot Friday in Washington D.C., prompting a heavy police response, authorities said.
The Metropolitan Police Department said it received reports of shots fired in the 4100 block of Connecticut Avenue NW. Social media users reported hearing heavy gunfire in the area.
Authorities said the victims were two men and an underage girl. The MPD issued a shelter in place order in response to what it described as an “active threat” and said road closures in the area should be expected.

DC teen arrested in crime spree that includes hitting woman with hammer

The 13-year-old’s crime spree dates back to March 27th, when he allegedly was involved in theft, armed robbery and unarmed carjacking.
Over a week later, he was accused of another armed robbery, in which he allegedly hit a woman in the back of the head with a hammer multiple times, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Four days later he was accused of assault with intent to commit robbery, followed the next day by an alleged armed and unarmed carjacking.
He allegedly took a short break from committing crimes before returning five days later with another attempted robbery.
US Navy investigating vandalism of nuclear submarine

The U.S. Navy is investigating what they believe is an intentional act of vandalism that damaged equipment within the Virginian-class submarine USS Texas (SSN-775) in the last month.
The suspected vandalism took place as the USS Texas has been undergoing maintenance at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Maine. Shipyard spokesperson Danna Eddy said in a statement reported by the Portsmouth Herald on Thursday that federal government equipment on the submarine was damaged on or around March 29 of this year.
The Navy is currently prosecuting a sailor for alleged vandalism of another ship, the USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6), related to a July 2020 fire that caused $3 billion worth of damages to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship, injured 63 people involved in the firefighting efforts and ultimately led the Navy to decommission the ship.
Seaman Recruit Ryan Sawyer Mays, 20, faces a two-count court-martial case for aggravated arson of and willfully hazarding the ship. Mays denies starting the fire. His trial is set to begin in September.
Greg Gutfeld used an entire show to ruthlessly ridicule Chris Wallace over the meteoric collapse of CNN+

Earlier this week, news broke that Warner Bros. Discovery was pulling the plug on CNN+ less than a month after launching the subscription streaming news service that costs $5.99 a month. A CNBC report released on April 12 stated that CNN’s failed streaming service was only receiving 10,000 viewers a day.
Gutfeld basked in the sudden downfall of CNN+ during a recent episode of his Fox News TV show, while also taking potshots at Wallace.
“Okay, so you see Hillary was supposed to come back, you got Bernie, you got Mitt – the Democratic bench is thinner than Chris Wallace’s demo reel from CNN+,” Gutfeld said on Thursday’s episode of “The Five.” “I just needed to get that in there.”
During the show, co-host Judge Jeanine Pirro recounted how she was “sitting next to a guy who was drunk on a plane and he vomited all over me.” Gutfeld jokingly interjected, “Oh my God, was it Chris Wallace?”
Texas National Guard soldier missing after mission to rescue migrant from river: sources

EAGLE PASS, Texas – A Texas National Guard soldier has gone missing while trying to rescue migrants in a river at the state’s border with Mexico, Texas officials said Thursday.
The incident occurred in Eagle Pass during an attempt to rescue migrants. Law enforcement sources initially told Fox News that the service member had drowned.
However, the sources later said that the body that had been recovered was in fact a migrant, not the service member.
The Texas Military Department said in a statement that a soldier assigned to Operation Lone Star “has gone missing along a river during a mission-related incident.”
“The Soldier has not been found,” the statement said, calling reports of a fatality “inaccurate.”

Ohio National Guard provides armored vehicles for Ukraine

Gov. Mike DeWine announced Wednesday afternoon that the Ohio Army National Guard will give an undisclosed number of M-113 Armored Personnel Carriers to Ukraine following a request from the U.S. Department of Defense to support the war-torn country.
“As we continue to learn about Russian war crimes in Ukraine, those of us in Ohio stand ready to help the Ukrainian people in any way possible,” DeWine stated.
“Ohio has a strong Ukrainian community, and we stand behind them and their families overseas.”

Bonola moved to the United States from Mexico 21 years ago, police officials said Thursday. They would not comment regarding the 44-year-old’s immigration status at the time.
But two law enforcement sources with knowledge of the matter told Fox News Digital that Bonola was in the country in violation of immigration law. Details of whether he entered the U.S. legally were not immediately available.
After the murder, Bonola allegedly stuffed Gaal’s remains in a hockey duffel bag and dragged it about seven-tenths of a mile away from her home around 4:30 a.m. before ditching it on the sidewalk.
The 44-year-old didn’t answer questions as he was led out of a New York City police precinct in handcuffs on Thursday afternoon but did shout, “F— you, motherf—–.”
Top Planned Parenthood Official ‘Excited’ about Biden Administration Forcing Healthcare Professionals to Perform Abortions, Transgender Treatments Against Faith Values

The administration of self-described “Catholic” Joe Biden will junk the Donald Trump administration’s 2019 rule that sought to protect the rights of healthcare workers to refuse to participate in abortions and transgender treatments that violate their faith beliefs.
In response to the Biden administration’s announcement, German-owned Politico reported Jacqueline Ayers, senior vice president of policy, organizing, and campaigns for Planned Parenthood, referred to the Trump rule as “discriminatory,” and added, “We look forward to seeing the details of the new rule and are excited about this step forward.”
The abortion industry giant, which is now also the second largest provider of transgender hormone treatments in the nation, joined with others in a lawsuit against the Trump-era “conscience” rule.
An Obama-appointed federal judge ultimately struck down the rule in November 2019.
New York Attorney General Letitia James, who led the lawsuit challenge, argued the rule “illegally favored the personal views of health-care workers over the needs of patients and threatened to hobble the ability of state-run health-care facilities to provide effective care.”
Twitter Censors Shakespeare Scholar for Quoting Line from Henry VI, Part 2

An associate professor at the University of Nottingham in the English Midlands, Peter Kirwan was warned by Twitter over using the platform for “abuse” for quoting the famed line “let’s kill all the lawyers”.
Posting in support of an upcoming production Henry VI, Part 2 by the Royal Shakespeare Company, Kirwan wrote on Wednesday: “Really excited for @NottsRebels taking the stage with the @TheRSC for today’s Henry VI press performances. Break a leg everyone, and do kill all the lawyers.”
The social media platform removed the post for violating its “abuse and harassment” rules, The Times of London reported.

Kerry threatens natural gas industry: ‘You’ve got 6 years…’

The federal government has to put the natural gas industry “on notice,” Kerry, who President Joe Biden appointed to the role in January 2021, told Bloomberg in an interview Thursday. He suggested that producers must prove they are utilizing carbon capture technology to reduce their emissions profile or transition away from their business model.
“If you can capture the emissions — literally, genuinely — then you’re reducing the problem,” Kerry told Bloomberg. “We have to put the industry on notice: You’ve got six years, eight years, no more than 10 years or so, within which you’ve got to come up with a means by which you’re going to capture, and if you’re not capturing, then we have to deploy alternative sources of energy.”
Fossil fuel industry groups responded to Kerry’s comments, arguing they would create a chilling effect and lead to market uncertainty.
John Kerry feeling the heat, dodges Herald’s question about FOIA request

As the Herald has previously reported, Kerry’s office has refused to share a roster of its climate staff and its payroll until October 2024, in response to a Herald records request filed almost a year ago.
That refusal comes as U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, writing in a March 15 memo, that agencies should not “withhold information based merely on speculative or abstract fears or fears of embarrassment.”
Kerry’s office declined to speak on the record Thursday to explain why it won’t hand over details of the Climate Office.
Governor DeSantis Signs “Stop Woke Act” and Strips Disney from their Special privileges!
Governor DeSantis signed anti-CRT legislation putting an end to corporate and educational indoctrination in Florida by signing the STOP WOKE act and stripping Disney from their Special Privilgaes in the Reedy Creek improvement district.
WATCH: Remember When Obama Pushed Graphic Sex Education to 5-Year-Olds?

As the war to protect our children from groomers at Disney and in the public education system continues, it seems necessary to point out that this assault on children’s innocence isn’t a new thing.
I often point out that much of Joe Biden’s radical agenda isn’t new, but actually a rehash of Obama’s radical agenda.
So, it seems necessary to remind everyone that the radical left agenda to sexualize and groom children was, in fact, being pushed by Obama even before he was president.
The video below was presented on Fox News during the 2008 campaign, and featured an ad by the McCain campaign, which blasted Obama’s radical agenda to sexualize kids, pointing out that “his one accomplishment” while in the Illinois state Senate was “legislation to teach comprehensive sex education to kindergarteners.”
Classic Stossel: Shutting Down Progress
America is blessed with abundant resources and cursed with boneheaded regulators.
Environmentalists collude with the EPA to block economic progress.
EPA bureaucrats thousands of miles away shut down a mine in Alaska to save fish two hundred miles downstream and fired hundreds of workers in the process.
Now, after a decade of delays, environmentalists have also shut down the Keystone SL pipeline.
A Classic Stossel from 2015.

California Bill 2223 Could Decriminalize Infanticide

A California bill AB 2223 by Democrat Assembly Member Buffy Wicks, D-Oakland, passed the Assembly Health Committee late Tuesday in an 11-3 vote. Critics argue that the bill could decriminalize infanticide.
The legislation comes as two Kings County women were charged with “fetal murder” for causing the stillbirths of their fetuses.
They were imprisoned after delivering stillbirths and testing positive for methamphetamines. One of the women, Adora Perez, had an 11-year prison sentence overturned in March, and the other, Chelsea Becker, had charges dropped in May of last year.
The committee held a debate on Tuesday in Sacramento. It was attended by thousands of protesters, including The People’s Convoy, who traveled back from Washington, DC, to protest this bill and other COVID-19 bills debated in the CA state legislature.
Trump floats serious allegations against Georgia GOP leaders in fierce defense of Marjorie Taylor Greene

Former President Donald Trump lashed out at Georgia Democrats and their alleged Republican allies in a fierce statement issued Thursday in defense of Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
At issue is an effort by Georgia Democrats to disqualify Greene from running for reelection in the November race. The effort is part of what legal expert Jonathan Turley calls “a new movement to defend democracy by denying it.”
“This is the same clause cited by some liberal members of Congress and legal experts as a way to bar dozens of Republicans, including former President Trump, from office for allegedly engaging in insurrection against the United States or giving aid and comfort to its enemies,” he continued.
Trump seemingly referenced this effort in his statement Thursday. He also bashed top Georgia Republicans like Gov. Brian Kemp and suggested that they’re working in tandem with Democrats to unseat Greene.

AOC Goes Full AOC: ‘No Joke,’ Jan. 6 ‘Was A Trial Run,’ ‘They’re Going To Come Back’

The leader of the so-called “Squad” of socialist House Democrats, who holed up in her office during the rioting and later claimed the mob left her in fear for her life, made the claim at a town hall meeting for constituents.
Ocasio-Cortez then hit the GOP, claiming the breach would have been “worse” if Republicans controlled the House and could have prevented Joe Biden’s electoral victory.
Earlier this month, a federal judge acquitted a man named Matthew Martin, a former government contractor at a nuclear weapons laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico, on all charges related to the Capitol breach. The interesting part about the acquittal was that Martin argued police let him enter the Capitol and was waved into the building, The Daily Wire reported.
Lawyer Alan Dershowitz later told The Daily Wire the acquittal was “enormously important” and sets a legal precedent.

North Korea orders wartime readiness during joint U.S.-South Korean military drills

North Korea put its military in a wartime posture–mobilizing troops and stepping up army political indoctrination– in response to the semi-annual U.S.-South Korean joint military exercises that began this week, sources in the country told RFA.
The exercises are mostly computer simulations and involve cooperation between alliance command posts. But North Korea still views the exercises as a threat to its sovereignty, and its General Political Bureau has ordered the military to be ready for war.
“The General Political Bureau has ordered the Korean People’s Army newspapers, telecommunications, and the third broadcast within the military to put out intensive propaganda that shows the party and the military’s resolve, and our principled and ruthlessly super-hardline stance,” the second soruce said.
Third broadcast refers to government-controlled loudspeakers that transmit messages or instructions to everyone they can reach.
“In response to the orders … high-ranking officials and the soldiers below them complain that they are already tired from winter training and the various different political events concentrated in April. They wonder whether it makes sense to ‘arm soldiers with the 1950 spirit of defending the motherland…’ when what they want the most right now is adequate rest and enough food to eat,” he said.
Israeli central bank adds Chinese Yuan for first time ever, cuts back on US Dollar

Bloomberg reported on the Israeli banking decision on Wednesday, describing it as the biggest change to its balance of reserve currencies in over a decade. While the Bank of Israel previously only held Dollars, Euros and Pounds, it will now take on Yuan as well as Japanese Yen, and Australian and Canadian Dollars.
The U.S. Dollar will go from representing 66.5 percent of the bank’s reserve currency holdings to 61 percent. The share of Euros will fall from 30 to 20 percent. The share of Pounds will almost double to about five percent.
The Japanese Yen will now also represent about five percent of the bank’s holdings, while the Canadian and Australian Dollars will each represent 3.5 percent of the share. The Chinese Yuan will comprise about two percent of the bank’s currency holdings.
Bank of Israel Deputy Governor Andrew Abir said the decision to change the makeup of the bank’s currency holdings is part of a change in its “whole investment guidelines and philosophy.”

‘It’s A Lie, Simply A Lie,’ Israeli PM Calls CNN Host A Liar

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett valiantly tried to remain patient with CNN International’s Christiane Amanpour during a Wednesday interview also broadcast in the U.S. on PBS, but ultimately Amanpour’s desire to equate Palestinian terrorism with the Israeli response to it led Bennett to label her talking points as “a lie.”
Bennett didn’t initially call Amanpour a liar, instead informing her that “the way the facts were presented is not accurate” when she omitted that ISIS terrorists started the recent cycle of violence by murdering Israelis.
When Amanpour didn’t learn from this and accused Israel of storming the mosque on the Temple Mount, Bennett did his best Ronald Reagan impression:
Yes, well, Christiane, there you go again starting the story in the middle. But the actual fact is that, last Friday, at about 5 AM in the morning, roughly 300 Palestinian rioters entered Temple Mount Mosque with explosives, with stones. They began desecrating their own mosque, burning, throwing stones, and preventing about 80,000 decent Muslims from going to pray.
Russian TV Is Musing About Nuking New York City

It’s disturbing to see this kind of rhetoric on Russian TV while it wages a war in Ukraine while the U.S. and its allies funnel money and weapons into the embattled nation.
It’s also par for the course for nuclear discourse. Putin announced the RS-28 Sarmat to the world with a video of it destroying Mar-a-Lago in 2018. Days after the Kremlin’s push into Ukraine, Putin announced that he’d put Russia’s nuclear forces on a “special regime of duty.”
There is a point to all this sturm und drang. Nuclear deterrence only works, the theorists say, if people are afraid to attack you.
Russia is leaning so heavily on nuclear weapons right now as a means of reminding the world not to attack it, to stay back while it goes to war in Ukraine. “Deterrence is the art of producing, in the mind of the enemy, the fear to attack,” as Doctor Strangelove once said.
This is a disgrace!

Taliban Says it Closed Afghanistan Girls’ High Schools for Violating Sharia

“[G]irls’ schools in Afghanistan have problems with Sharia law, the curriculum is in opposition to Sharia law and jurisprudence, and … the way Afghan girls would go to schools was in opposition with Sharia and Afghan culture/tradition [sic],” Taliban leader Moulayee Rahmatullah Najib told reporters at a press conference on April 19 as quoted by Khaama Press.
Najib spoke in response to a journalist’s question asking why the Taliban chose to abruptly order all girls’ high schools in Afghanistan to close indefinitely on March 23.
The action marked a stark reversal of the Taliban’s previous claim on March 21 that it planned to allow girls in grades six or above to return to secondary school in Afghanistan on March
