Exclusive – Rep. Andy Biggs Demands Hearing over J6 Political Prisoners’ ‘Egregious’ Mistreatment

In a letter addressed to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Biggs insisted their committees must conduct hearings on the political prisoners’ alleged mistreatment amid reports of civil rights violations:

The letter also says the treatment of the political prisoners has “been so egregious” that Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), the ACLU, and U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth have spoken against it. 

“The allegations of mistreatment are extremely troubling and deserve Congress’ attention,” the letter concluded. “Your committees must immediately hold hearings to investigate the allegations.”

The letter was cosigned by 20 Republican members, some of whom aired their concerns the justice system is abusing its authority.

Border Patrol agents nab ‘child predator’ from Ecuador among slew of sex offenders entering US illegally

The U.S. Border Patrol announced this week it has arrested a “child predator” from Ecuador as he attempted to enter the U.S. illegally — one of a number of sex offenders nabbed coming across the border over the holiday period.

El Paso Sector Chief Border Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez announced that the Ecuadorian national had previous convictions for aggravated sodomy, child molestation and rape from Atlanta, Georgia. He had served 12 years for the convictions.

It is the latest in a slew of such arrests, at a time when the U.S.-Mexico border is still seeing a high number of migrant encounters — more than 174,000 in November.

Tucson Sector Chief Border Patrol Agent John Modlin announced this week that agents had arrested a Mexican citizen who is also a registered sex offender previously convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Illinois.

Donald Trump’s Fiercest Critics Now Agree With His COVID Fighting Strategy

“There is no federal solution,” President Joe Biden told the nation’s governors last week while addressing surging COVID cases from the Omicron variant, the latest wrinkle in the coronavirus pandemic. “This gets solved at the state level.”

That’s exactly what then-President Donald Trump said in 2020. While campaigning for the presidency, Biden accused Trump of “not having a plan” to beat COVID, while he himself did.

Now, with this apparent reversal of his campaign message, Biden seems to be channeling the position championed by his predecessor, who said in April 2020 that the federal government should be a “backstop” for whatever states chose to do to control their health emergencies.

Trump’s handling of the pandemic was widely criticized—by Democrats, the media, foreign allies and adversaries as well as some in his own party. It was a key factor, perhaps the decisive factor, in his election defeat at the hands of Biden in November.

Biden’s tacit acknowledgment that Trump was right about the scope of a federal pandemic response and his explicit praise of Trump’s messaging on vaccines last month begs the question: What else might Trump have been right about?

Philadelphia Lyft driver with license to carry shoots armed suspects during carjacking, police say

The 38-year-old ride-share driver was rear-ended by another vehicle just after 2:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of North 40th Street, Philadelphia police told Fox News.

The Lyft driver got out of his car and was approached by a shotgun-wielding suspect, who authorities said opened fire on the victim’s 2011 Infiniti before driving away with the vehicle.

Police said the 38-year-old Lyft driver has a valid permit to carry and used his personal weapon to fire at the suspect who took his car. When a second suspect, driving a Honda Accord, allegedly tried to run over the victim, the Lyft driver also shot at him.

Both suspects drove the vehicles away from the scene, according to police, but were later apprehended.

‘Historic’ 346 officers shot in line of duty in 2021: National Fraternal Order of Police

The number of officers shot in the line of duty last year is up from 312 officers shot in 2020, 47 of whom were killed, and 293 shot in 2019, 50 of whom were killed, according to an FOP analysis.

“As we have said before, the recent erosion of respect for law enforcement and anti-police rhetoric has fueled more aggression towards police officers than what has been seen in previous years,”  FOP President Patrick Yoes told Fox News in a statement. 

The five states with the highest numbers of officers shot in the line of duty were Texas (43), Illinois (29), California (23), Georgia (19) and Florida (17).

“Ambush-style” attacks — when officers are shot at without any warning or opportunities to defend themselves — were up 115% in 2021 compared to 2020, with 130 officers shot in 103 ambush attacks.

I-95 winter storm traffic disaster: Drivers are fuming and demanding answers from Virginia officials

As of early Tuesday afternoon, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) says it is still working to reopen a large portion of I-95 and is warning travelers to “expect congestion along major routes.”

 But drivers who claim to have gotten stuck are criticizing the agency. 

“How about you clear the way to get people home safe? The more you’re messing things up the more serious the situation is getting. We’ve been stuck 14 hours and counting now and are amongst the lucky ones as we still have water and gas. The longer the worse it’ll get,” one user wrote in response to a VDOT Fredericksburg tweet urging stranded drivers to call 911 if they are having a medical emergency.  

“Tax dollars at work! 18 hours and counting stuck sb i95,” another user griped. 

An NBC News meteorologist also accused Virginia officials of not doing enough beforehand.

Illinois police officer begged for her life before being shot dead with own firearm: Docs

“At the time Sullivan fired the fatal shots into Sgt. Rittmanic, Sgt. Rittmanic was pleading with them to just leave, ‘you don’t have to do this, please just go, please don’t please don’t.’ She was desperately pleading for her life,” Kankakee County State’s Attorney Jim Rowe said in court Monday.

Bradley Police Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic and Officer Tyler Bailey were shot Dec. 29 while responding to a Comfort Inn Hotel along a highway in Kankakee County regarding barking dogs that were left in a vehicle.

They found the room where the vehicle’s possible owner was staying and were shot while talking to the people in that room, the sheriff’s office said.

Rowe submitted an official request on Monday to federal prosecutors, asking them to review the first-degree murder cases pending against Darius Sullivan and Xandria Harris, who are charged the shooting, and to pursue a federal death sentence for both defendants, FOX 32 Chicago reported.

Rapper J $tash found dead after allegedly killing woman in front of her children

Rapper J $tash allegedly murdered a woman in front of her three kids before killing himself with a gun, People reported.

J $tash, whose real name was Justin Joseph, died in Temple City, Calif., on Saturday. He was 28.

Deputies found the bodies of Jeanette Gallegos, 27, and Joseph at the scene.

$tash had an argument with Gallegos and he led her into the master bedroom, where he locked the door. Their bodies were found in the room.

“The female victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds, while the male victim sustained an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” deputies noted, according to People.

Judge Blocks Navy From Discharging Christians Who Defied COVID Vaccine Mandate

U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor issued a preliminary injunction that stops the U.S. Department of Defense from punishing the 35 service members, all of whom have religious objections to the vaccine mandate, according to a press release from First Liberty Institute, which is representing them in their lawsuit.

“The Navy service members in this case seek to vindicate the very freedoms they have sacrificed so much to protect,” O’Connor wrote. “The Covid-19 pandemic provides the government no license to abrogate those freedoms. There is no COVID-19 exception to the First Amendment. There is no military exclusion from our Constitution.”

The military members sued the department after Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, an appointee of President Joe Biden, issued a mandate requiring all members to be vaccinated for COVID-19. Though Austin said religious exemptions would be allowed, none have been approved yet, the Associated Press reports.

Flights carrying illegal immigrants now landing in Pennsylvania: reports

Pennsylvania has become the latest location where flights filled with illegal immigrants are being flown under the cover of darkness, according to reports.

At least five flights carrying the illegal immigrants landed at airports in Scranton and Allentown late last month from Texas, local outlet WFMZ reported.

Former GOP Congressman Lou Barletta, who is running for Pennsylvania governor, claimed the flights were sent at night by the Biden administration.

Larry Elder won’t run again for California governor after recall loss

Elder, who easily topped the field of replacement candidates in September’s recall election that Newsom convincingly survived, on Tuesday stated that he won’t seek to oust Newsom a second straight time.

Instead, he announced the formation of the Elder for America PAC, which he said would help Republicans win back majorities in the House of Representatives and the Senate in this year’s midterm contents, as well as assist GOP candidates in local races where public safety and education are top issues.

“I ran for Governor because I wanted to make a difference,” Elder noted in a statement. “While I may not know what the future holds for me politically, our campaign’s ability to attract millions of votes and millions of dollars in a very short time demonstrates we have a message that resonates with Americans, and I believe we can put that to good use.”

As the U.S. Capitol building came under siege, House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving sought approval from Pelosi to dispatch the National Guard in an episode confirmed by the speaker’s office to The New York Times.

Four days later, former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund, who resigned his post in the riot’s aftermath, told the Washington Post it was far from the first time National Guard reinforcements were requested. In fact, Sund told the paper the request was made six times.

In a letter to the speaker on Monday, House Republicans independently probing the Capitol riot outlined at least four times last year that House deputies under Pelosi’s command denied requests to review documents shedding light on the security decisions of Jan. 6.

Newborn baby rescued from trash bin in airplane bathroom

A newborn baby boy is reportedly doing well after airport officers rescued the child from the trash bin of an airplane bathroom. 

According to the BBC, officers discovered the baby on Saturday during a routine customs check. The Air Mauritius plane they were on had arrived from Madagascar, landing at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport in Mauritius. After finding the child, the officers rushed him to a public hospital for treatment. 

A 20-year-old woman from Madagascar believed to be the boy’s mother was reportedly taken into custody. The woman had just arrived in Mauritius from Madagascar on a two-year work program. At first, she denied that she was the boy’s mother, but a medical examination confirmed she had just gone through labor.

New study triggers fears that preborn babies with autism may be ‘screened out’

The study, led by a team of researchers at the University of Cambridge alongside colleagues from the Wellcome Sanger Institute and the University of California Los Angeles, has collected data from 10,000 participants with the stated aim to “investigate genetic and environmental factors that contribute to the wellbeing of autistic individuals and their families”.

However, individuals with autism as well as the National Autistic Society (NAS) have been highly critical of the study over fears that the research may lead to the development of tests to ‘screen out’ unborn babies found to be on the autistic spectrum.

In particular, critics have pointed out the dramatic decrease in the number of babies born with Down’s syndrome since the condition has been routinely tested for. The situation has worsened with the introduction of non-invasive prenatal testing over the past decade.

The number of infants born with Down’s syndrome in the UK fell by 54% between 2011 and 2015, a period that saw the arrival of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) to the UK in 2012.

‘Bodies burned beyond recognition’: Al-Shabaab militants torture, behead Christians in Kenya; at least 6 killed

“It is an ugly sight of people’s bodies lying dead and houses smoking with fire. This is undeniably an awful terrorist attack,” said Pastor Stephen Sila, who was at the site of the attack in Widhu village in Lamu West on Monday morning, the U.S.-based persecution watchdog International Christian Concern reported. 

“I counted seven houses that were torched down, four bodies of people burned beyond recognition inside the houses,” he was quoted as saying.

“A body shot dead right outside a burned house and another beheaded body next to it. Other villagers escaped into the dark and the police are still looking for them.”

Five of the six killed had their hands tied from behind before they were beheaded, reported Kenya’s The Standard newspaper. “All the deceased persons had their hands tied from behind. Also several houses were torched within the locality and property of unknown value burned,” it said, citing a police report.

China switches on ‘artificial sun’ that is five times hotter than the real thing

The Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), known as an “artificial sun”, reached temperatures of 70,000,000C during the experiments, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

The ultimate aim of developing the artificial sun device is to deliver near-limitless clean energy by mimicking the natural reactions occurring within stars.

“The recent operation lays a solid scientific and experimental foundation towards the running of a fusion reactor,” said Gong Xianzu, a researcher at the Institute of Plasma Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, who led the latest experiment.

The EAST project, which has already cost China more than £700bn, will run the experiment until June.
