San Francisco Becomes First Major City To Require Proof Of Full Vaccination For Indoor Activities
Last week, New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio established the “Key To NYC” mandate, which requires proof of vaccination at indoor dining, entertainment, and fitness facilities. New York’s mandate requires proof that you’ve received at least one dose of the vaccine and is not applicable for unvaccinated people who need to enter essential public venues, like grocery stores.
San Francisco’s mandate is noticeably more draconian and will require proof of full vaccination for all customers and staff without exception. It is unclear whether individuals will need booster shots to classify as “fully” vaccinated.
The announcement comes the same week Gov. Gavin Newsom declared that all employees in public and private schools would have to show proof of vaccination or get tested for the virus weekly. Los Angeles is currently considering a vaccine mandate similar to New York’s that would require proof of one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Breed said there was no determined end date for the requirement.
Virginia teacher says it’s been ‘heartbreaking’ to watch effects of critical race theory on kids
“I have heartbreakingly watched [CRT] trickle down into our student body where I have witnessed students of color excluding their White peers, saying things like ‘well, you can’t be a part of this conversation because you’re White,” said Monica Gill.
Additionally, Gill asserted that teachers and students are being taught that if you claim to be “color-blind” you are engaging in “micro-aggressions” and a form of racism.
Gill noted that she observed that biracial students have particular difficulty digesting some of the aspects of critical race theory, but were oftentimes criticized for being “white-adjacent” if they attempted to “protect” a White parent or friend.
“This is very damaging to kids,” said Gill. “We should be teaching kids that there is one race, the human race, and advocating for anything different is just—it’s not going to give us a healthy society.”
Oregon School Board Bans Black Lives Matter And Gay Pride Flags From Classrooms
School Board Director Brian Shannon backed the initiative, telling his colleagues there should not be political messaging in the classroom in order for schools “[to] focus on the already difficult task of educating our students in the core subjects.” There are approximately 5,000 kids in Newberg School District, which is located in Newberg, Oregon.
Moving forward, the board plans to establish a policy committee comprised of three members. The committee will decide what other symbols are constituted as “political” and ought to be restricted from going on display. The board’s decision will apply to all nine schools in the district.
Shannon condemned “divisive symbols” and also called for a ban on educators wearing attire related to BLM or the pride movement, but that proposal has yet to pass.
Parents across US revolt against school boards on masks, critical race theory and gender issues
For the past few months, the country has seen protests and charged public meetings with comments opposed to critical race theory, masking rules and gender-related policies.
On Wednesday, the Loudoun County School Board in Virginia approved a gender-related policy with provisions that had been inspiring conflict for months within the county.
“I am so shocked there are fathers on this school board who support Policy 8040. As a father, you are in a role that is supposed to be protective of children’s privacy, modesty and safety,” she said.
But even before that, Loudoun was one of the most prominent school districts with parents fighting back against CRT. Amid their fight, several other localities saw parents revolt.

Going home and not seeing each other for two months was tough, their parents said.
“During that time, those two months, they would send little videos back and forth, FaceTime, and they just continually asked to see each other,” Dani Porter, Mack’s mom, told KHPO/KTVK.
Shocking video shows man open fire while running down Harlem street
Disturbing new video shows a gunman open fire in broad daylight while running in the middle of a Harlem street.
The video, released by the NYPD Thursday, shows the triggerman blasting off multiple rounds at an unknown target just before 1:45 p.m. Aug. 1 on 7th Avenue near West 148th Street, according to police.
No one was injured, police said.
The shooter took off on a scooter heading south on the avenue, cops said.

Eventually, other fans and workers attempt to stop the fight by pulling the two fans away from each other. However, the one fan repping a Freddie Freeman shirt manages to get in a nasty stomp before being pulled away.
La Habra mother convicted of murder for pushing 7-month-old son off O.C. hospital parking structure
The same jury who found her guilty of first-degree murder Wednesday will also determine whether she was legally insane at the time of the crime. The sanity trial is scheduled to begin on Aug. 24.
Sonia Hermosillo, 41, was convicted by a jury of one felony count of murder and one felony count of assault on a child causing death, the O.C. District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Hermosillo had entered a plea of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity.
At approximately 6:20 p.m., Hermosillo removed her baby’s helmet and pushed him from the parking structure, the DA’s office said. Prosecutors say she had the intention of murdering him.
Hermosillo then walked inside the hospital, validated her parking and drove away.
North Texas man accused of murdering pregnant wife
At the home, authorities found Margaret Ann Sanders with a gunshot wound to her torso. She was taken a hospital but later died Tuesday morning. Officials determined she was pregnant.
Investigators arrested her husband, 43-year-old Jason Cory Sanders. They say he shot his pregnant wife after some kind of altercation.
Sanders told investigators he fired a shot in the air just to scare his wife and that a projectile struck her, reported the Sulphur Springs News-Telegram.

The grandmother of the 7-year-old girl found dead in her Bronx apartment tirelessly fought for years to keep custody of the child — whose tragic death was ruled a homicide on Thursday.
But little Julissia Batties was eventually returned to her mom — not long before her lifeless, broken body, with evidence of trauma all over, was discovered Tuesday morning in NYCHA’s Mitchel Houses.
“I begged them not to give Julissia back to her mother because when she got mad at my son, she’d take it out on my granddaughter,” Yolanda Davis, the girl’s paternal grandmother, told The Post Thursday.
“If she was with me, we’d never be here without her. She’d still be alive.”

Bodycam footage released Wednesday shows the moment three Nashville police officers shot and killed a suspect who charged toward them while wielding a knife.
The critical incident briefing video posted to YouTube also shows officers asking the unnamed 31-year-old suspect from Birmingham, Alabama, to drop his weapon multiple times.
The suspect appears nonresponsive until he exits his vehicle on Charlotte Pike and runs at officers with the knife in his hand.

Texas officials bus untested migrants all over state at cost of $8G per day: report
Border Patrol in the Rio Grande Valley has been transferring migrants to the border city of Laredo, which in turn has sent several busloads of untested migrants north to Dallas, Austin and Houston, Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz told Border Report.
Saenz said that the charter buses cost the city of Laredo $8,000 to $10,000 dollars per day and is part of a compromise with the Department of Homeland Security. He said that he hopes FEMA will reimburse the city.
The city has so far sent about 800 migrants north, Laredo spokeswoman Noraida Negron confirmed to the Dallas Morning News.
The migrants being sent throughout the state have not been tested for COVID-19, according to Saenz. Laredo already has a waiting list for hospital beds as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise.

And with supplies at a quarter of their normal levels, the Dutch TTF front-month wholesale gas price, a European benchmark, hit a record high of 45.78 euros per megawatt hour on Wednesday, which traders said was partly caused by fears over supply and the reduction in Mallnow flows.
China Deploys More Than Half A Dozen Military Aircraft Into Taiwan’s Airspace
Chinese military aircraft entered Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on two separate occasions Thursday, marking the second consecutive day of provocation by the Chinese military.
The move from Beijing follows the deployment of an electronic intelligence aircraft to the region on Wednesday.
According to Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense, the first incident occurred early Thursday morning when one Shaanxi Y-8 electronic warfare plane, one Shaanxi Y-8 electronic intelligence plane, and four Shenyang J-16 fighter jets entered the southwestern region of the ADIZ.
Taiwan soon responded to the activity, with the nation’s air force issuing radio warnings and deploying air defense missile systems.
The island nation utilized similar tactics later that afternoon when a single Shaanxi Y-8 ASW aircraft was spotted infiltrating the southwestern region of the ADIZ.
South Korean court sentences K-pop star to 3 years in prison

Taliban claims control over prisons in 2 chief Afghanistan cities

Insurgents moved deeper into Kandahar on Wednesday, with reports on Thursday saying forces had surrounded and attacked the general prison. A message posted to Twitter by Ahmadi, an alleged representative of the Taliban, claimed that the prison staff surrendered and the Taliban released all prisoners.
The conquest was the result of “a long siege and violent attacks,” Ahmadi said. Fighting in the city remains fierce as the insurgents push to take control of the city itself, as well, Al Jazeera reported.
The Taliban also claimed control over the prison in Herat, with all “Taliban” prisoners released there, too.

School boys made to answer ‘intrusive’ questions in ‘sinister’ survey: Bolt
Boys from nine Catholic schools around Australia have been asked to answer “sneering” questions in a “sinister” questionnaire, according to Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
In the survey, boys were asked to answer more than 100 “aggressive, intrusive” questions which were “hostile to the values that make some men so admirable”.
“Don’t think I’m reading too much into this,” Mr Bolt said.
