Home invasion suspect picks the wrong home to enter — and ends up dead when he meets armed homeowner
Two witnesses said that the suspect was banging his fists on neighborhood doors and appeared to be so drunk he could barely remain on his feet.
When the suspect arrived at what would be his final destination and began pounding on its door, the homeowner reportedly retrieved a gun and opened the door.
At that point, the suspect reportedly lunged at the homeowner, who, in turn, fatally wounded the would-be intruder.
Surveillance video captured the moments that led to the fatal shooting.
Student killed, another injured in shooting at New Jersey school field
Moussa Fofana, 18, was fatally shot at Underhill Field in Maplewood around 9:40 p.m. Sunday, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The 11th-grade student at Columbia High School died at the scene nearly an hour later, the agency said.
The other male student, whose age was not immediately known, was shot in the leg and treated at a nearby hospital, cops said.
NYPD hunting for gunman who killed boy, 10, over weekend of citywide violence, protests
The New York City police department responded to 16 shootings over the weekend that wounded to 19 victims citywide, including a 10-year-old boy who died from his injuries, officials said, as officers were also out in droves to enforce a newly instituted curfew at one of Manhattan’s popular parks.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) reported 19 people were wounded in 16 shootings from Friday through Sunday.
Four people were killed, including a sixth grader who was gunned down in Queens on Saturday, just days before his birthday, according to officials and reports.
Justin’s father, 57-year-old Albert Wallace, told the Post on Sunday he was in the basement of the home when he heard gunshots and went to investigate.
Critics hit Twitter for suspending conservative after mocking Brian Stelter: ‘Don’t you dare insult CNN!’
Conservative commentator Mike Davis sounded off on the bias of Big Tech on Monday after Twitter briefly suspended him for comparing CNN’s Brian Stelter to “The Gimp” in the film “Pulp Fiction,” flagging it as a violation of their “hateful conduct policy.”
Twitter lifted the suspension of Will Upton, the author of the Stelter critique, shortly after he filed an appeal.
But the platform still chose to suspend Davis for defending Upton’s tweet.
Twitter let Davis back on the platform on Monday afternoon.
California woman brutally beaten at gas station pump in apparent random attack, authorities say
The victim, a Hispanic female, was pumping gas when the suspect, who appeared shirtless, parked directly in front of her car and calmly gets out of his vehicle, the sheriff’s department said.
Video shows the shirtless suspect walk over to the victim and, without any apparent provocation, punch her, knocking her to the ground.
While she was on the ground, the suspect repeatedly punched her in the head and face, the sheriff’s department said.
He also grabbed the victim’s hair and slammed her head against her car and onto the ground multiple times.
Minneapolis sees 4th night of BLM demonstrations after Black man shot dead by federal task force
Crowds marched Sunday evening in response to Thursday’s fatal shooting of 32-year-old Winston Boogie Smith Jr. in Minneapolis’ Uptown neighborhood.
Officers stood watch during the demonstrations. There were no immediate reports of injuries or arrests stemming from Sunday’s demonstrations. A police spokesman said he didn’t have any details Monday morning.
Authorities said Friday that Smith was wanted on a weapons violation and fired a gun before two deputies shot him while he was inside a parked vehicle.
Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force were trying to arrest him on a warrant for allegedly being a felon in possession of a gun.
Guatemala’s prez blames Biden for border crisis as protesters tell Kamala Harris ‘Trump won’
The rally was visible to Harris’ motorcade as she arrived to meet with Guatemala President Alejandro Giammattei one day after he blamed the US for luring his constituents north.
“Kamala, Trump won,” read a large sign near the Central American country’s presidential palace.
“Kamala, Mind Your Own Business,” another sign said, according to a pool report.
Images posted to Twitter show other signs, including one that tells Biden’s migration czar: “Kamala, Go Home.”

the Lincoln Project used the anniversary of D-Day to equate Antifa with the soldiers who stormed Normandy’s beaches to fight Adolf Hitler and Nazis in World War II.
Incredibly, the tweet has received over 10,000 likes since Sunday, as well as a number of kudos-drenched comments. But not everybody is buying what the Lincoln Project is trying to sell:

FDA approves much-debated Alzheimer’s drug panned by experts
Government health officials on Monday approved the first new drug for Alzheimer’s disease in nearly 20 years, disregarding warnings from independent advisers that the much-debated treatment hasn’t been shown to help slow the brain-destroying disease.
The Food and Drug Administration said it granted approval to the drug from Biogen based on results that seemed “reasonably likely” to benefit Alzheimer’s patients.
It’s the only drug that U.S. regulators have said can likely treat the underlying disease, rather than manage symptoms like anxiety and insomnia.
The decision, which could impact millions of older Americans and their families, is certain to spark disagreements among physicians, medical researchers and patient groups.
Supreme Court Rules Against Amnesty For Illegal Immigrants With Temporary Protected Status
Justice Elena Kagan wrote for the court that federal immigration law prohibits TPS recipients from seeking green cards if they entered the country illegally.
The justices noted that federal law requires immigrants to have been “inspected and admitted or paroled” in the U.S. prior to seeking permanent residency.
The Supreme Court took up the case in January and oral arguments began in April. In the court’s decision Monday, the justices determined that Sanchez “was not lawfully admitted, and his TPS does not alter that fact.”
SCOTUS Declines to Review Male Only Draft Registration
In a decision with no noted dissenting opinions, the court declined to take the case. In the opinion, Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote that the court had decided to defer the matter to Congress, as it “actively weighs the issue.”
The question of whether it’s unconstitutional to require men but not women to register could be viewed as one with little practical impact.
The last time there was a draft was during the Vietnam War, and the military has been all-volunteer since.
But the registration requirement is one of the few remaining places where federal law treats men and women differently, and women’s groups are among those arguing that allowing it to stand is harmful.

Ron DeSantis Signs Bills Cracking Down on China
Florida governor Ron DeSantis (R.) signed two bills Monday cracking down on Chinese influence in the state’s businesses and schools.
One of the bills addresses the influence of foreign adversaries by upping penalties for corporate espionage conducted on behalf of foreign regimes or companies.
The second bill forbids agreements between public entities in Florida and seven “countries of concern,” including China, Russia, and Iran.
DeSantis said in a Monday press conference the second bill would kick Confucius Institutes—cultural centers funded by China that some U.S. officials have labeled a national security threat—off of college campuses in Florida.
Biden Taps Union Ally for Board of Federal Labor Arbiter
Biden nominated Gwynne Wilcox to a long-vacant seat on the five-person National Labor Relations Board.
Wilcox is associate general counsel for the largest local chapter of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the second-largest labor union in the United States.
The union spent nearly $28 million to back left-wing super PACs and contributed more than $3 million to help get Democratic candidates elected.
The SEIU also stands to benefit from Biden’s policies. In April, he proposed $400 billion in spending as part of an overall infrastructure package that would devote the funding to Medicaid “in-home” care.
In many Democrat-controlled states, health workers are required to join the SEIU, which boasts nearly two million members.
Mo Brooks says Capitol riot lawsuit was served after team unlawfully snuck into his home
“Swalwell’s process server entered the Brooks’ home without Martha Brooks’ knowledge and without her consent,” rep Clay Mills told the Washington Post, referring to Brooks’ wife.
“Then he refused to leave when Mrs. Brooks demanded it.
The lawsuit alleges that Rep. Mo Brooks, along with former President Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Rudy Giuliani, broke DC laws by inciting the Jan. 6 riot.
Rep. Mo Brooks has reportedly filed a complaint with police over the alleged break-in.

China’s ‘massive cover-up’ on COVID still happening: WHO advisory board member
“The Chinese have engaged in a massive cover-up that is going on until this day, involving destroying samples, hiding records, placing a universal gag order on Chinese scientists and imprisoning Chinese citizen journalists asking the most basic questions,” Jamie Metzl told “America’s Newsroom.”
China is reportedly planning to build dozens of biosafety level three labs and one biosafety level four lab over the next five years, as investigators take another look at the possibility that the coronavirus could have leaked out of a laboratory in Wuhan, China.
“The more that China stonewalls, the more suspicious that it looks,” Metzl said. “We can’t give China a veto over whether or not we investigate the world’s worst pandemic in a century and then do everything we can to make everybody safe.”
Metzl stressed the importance of doing everything possible to have a “full investigation” into the pandemic, including the U.S. working with allies to have a “parallel” process if China does not cooperate.
Iran-backed militias using explosive drones to attack US targets in Iraq, officials say
The drone-bomb attacks have managed to evade U.S. defense systems to carry out attacks late at night and have targeted Iraqi military bases, including those used by the CIA and U.S. special operations units.
Iran backed militias have been suspected in numerous drone and rocket attacks that have targeted U.S. personnel in the country in recent months.
One drone attack took place shortly before midnight on April 14, when a drone targeted a CIA-operated hangar inside an airport complex in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil. That attack caused no injuries.
In the early morning hours of May 8, another drone targeted the Ayn al-Asad air base, from which the U.S. operates MQ-9 Reaper drones. That attack caused no injuries but did damage an aircraft hangar.

France fines Google for abusing ‘dominant’ ads position
The search engine giant is also promising to overhaul the way its platform is used for buying and selling digital ads, at least in France, which could have repercussions on its ongoing legal fights with regulators elsewhere in Europe, the U.S. and around the world.
Google’s advertising practices have harmed its competitors along with publishers of mobile websites and applications, the French Competition Authority said Monday. The authority said it is the responsibility of a company with a dominant market position to avoid unfairly undermining its competition.
Google, based in Mountain View, California, did not dispute the facts and opted to settle after proposing some changes, according to a prepared statement from the Competition Authority.
At Least 45 People Reportedly Dead After Two Trains Crash In Pakistan. Rescuers Still Searching For Survivors
More than 100 were injured in the collision, which occurred in the southern province of Sindh, and emergency crews worked alongside villagers to pull the survivors from the trains, according to The Associated Press.
Railway officials said more than 1,100 people were on board the two trains, according to the AP. People with critical injuries from the crash were flown by helicopter to a hospital nearby.
Pakistan’s railway system has experienced numerous deadly accidents, and there has been little effort to improve the country’s signal system and aging tracks, according to the AP.
