Extreme heat drives ‘high risk’ summer for U.S. power, especially in California

Extreme heat this summer could create energy shortfalls in California, Texas, New England and the U.S. West and Central regions, the organization responsible for North American electric reliability warned on Wednesday.
“California is at risk of energy emergencies during periods of normal peak summer demand and high risk when above-normal demand is widespread in the West,” the North American Electric Reliability Corp (NERC) said in its 2021 Summer Reliability Assessment.
Moreover, in addition to low reserves, California and the entire U.S. West will have to deal with heightened wildfire risk and a severe drought that has already reduced the region’s hydropower output.
Navy’s future LCS USS Savannah completes acceptance trials

The trials, completed May 14 in the Gulf of Mexico, are the final step in testing the Independence-variant ship before it is formally delivered to the Navy in a ceremony planned for late June.
At about 422 feet in length, Freedom- and Independence-class LCS vessels are relatively small, but carry helicopters as well as Mk 110 57 mm guns and RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missiles as armaments.
Although the four earliest ships, which entered service in 2010, are scheduled for decommissioning, U.S. Navy plans include 35 LCS vessels.
With the exception of the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer program, the LCS program is the Navy’s largest surface-ship class in production.
Hunter Biden brought VP Joe to dinner with shady business partners

Joe Biden met with Ukrainian, Russian and Kazakhstani business associates of his son’s at a dinner in Washington, DC, while he was vice president, records on Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop show.
The dinner, on April 16, 2015, was held in the private “Garden Room” at Café Milano, a Georgetown institution whose catchphrase is: “Where the world’s most powerful people go.”
The next day, Hunter received an email from Vadym Pozharskyi, an executive of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, to thank him for introducing him to his father.
(READ) President Biden’s statement on finding out more about Covid-19 origins

A statement today by Biden says U.S. intelligence is currently split on whether the virus emerged naturally or was part of an experiment conducted by the Chinese, but he has asked for a more definitive report in 90 days.
Part of the barrier to arriving at definitive answers is that China and its Wuhan lab, which has received funding from the National Institutes of Health, Dr. Anthony Fauci’s Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and other U.S. entities, failed to provide the samples, inspections and cooperation needed.
According to tax records, Johnson and Johnson, makers of one Covid-19 vaccine, provided signifiant funding to EcoHealth Alliance, a nonprofit middleman that– among other things– funded and partnered in bat coronavirus research with China and the Wuhan lab. The pharmaceutical company did not respond to requests to explain the purpose of its funding.
PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVED ONES AGAINST ILLEGAL MANDATES- KNOW THE LAW!

With more than 100 U.S. colleges mandating COVID vaccines for in-person attendance and schools enforcing mask mandates, it’s critical people understand their rights.
EUA products are by definition experimental, which requires people be given the right to refuse them.
Under the Nuremberg Code, the foundation of ethical medicine, no one may be coerced to participate in a medical experiment. Consent of the individual is “absolutely essential.”
What to do if your school or employer says you must get the COVID vaccine
The Children’s Health Defense legal team has written three legal notifications that anyone faced with a COVID vaccine, COVID test or mask mandate can use to inform employers and universities that they are violating federal law.
San Jose shooting: ‘Multiple fatalities’ in California shooting

“We do have multiple victims and multiple casualties at this point,” Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Deputy spokesman Russell Davis said, adding: “I can’t confirm the exact number but I can confirm multiple injuries and multiple fatalities at this point.”
According to CBS News in San Francisco, at least six people were killed, but the number has not yet been confirmed by police.
The station reports that the shots broke out during an employee meeting for rail workers.
The shooting shut down traffic on nearby streets during the morning commute.
Across the US, there have been 230 mass shootings so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

Georgia Little Caesars attack suspect arrested on assault, kidnapping charges

Kennedy had been wanted since May 17, when she allegedly beat 22-year-old Emily Broadwater at the restaurant. The confrontation unfolded just after 4 p.m. when Kennedy pulled Broadwater’s chair out from under her, according to a sheriff’s case report.
A bystander recorded the incident and posted video online showing Kennedy repeatedly punching Broadwater in the face before dragging her outside and stomping on her head two times.
No one at the restaurant appeared to try breaking up the fight in the video.
Little Caesars previously provided Fox News with footage from the restaurant after the attack ended that shows staff members using a first aid kit to help Broadwater as she waited for deputies to arrive.
‘Sociopath’ Fauci Will ‘Be Gone Within 90 Days’ Over Wuhan Lab Funding

“Tony Fauci is the father of the virus,” Navarro said. “It came from that lab.”
Navarro said Fauci had funded the lab through third parties.
“And Tony Fauci greased the skids for gain-of-function experimentation, which weaponizes viruses. We know all that,” Navarro said.
Navarro then explained why Fauci is culpable for the pandemic and lockdowns.
‘Doomsday’ couple Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell charged with murder

Both face first-degree murder charges for the death of Vallow’s children from two previous marriages – Joshua “JJ” Vallow, seven, and Tylee Ryan, 17.
The bodies of the children were found at Mr Daybell’s home last year.
Chad Daybell is an author who has written several apocalyptic novels loosely based on Mormon religious teachings. The couple are thought to have met through their involvement in a movement that promoted preparing for the end of the world.
Mr Daybell has also been charged with the murder of his ex-wife, Tammy Daybell, who died suddenly just weeks before he married Vallow.
The couple also face conspiracy and other charges, including theft and insurance fraud.
Horowitz: BLM’s legacy a year later: Terror on America’s streets

Thanks to the pandemic and less social mobility, crime has been decreasing in most countries. That is with the exception of the United States.
Perhaps gunshots ringing out during an ABC report at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis best exemplifies the evil fruits of the labor of BLM.
In all the cities with strict gun control laws, shootings have become so rampant, and they have taken the lives of more black people than any crime wave in a generation.
Plummeting incarceration rates, the war on the cops, mass rioting, and the loss of a criminal justice deterrent that took a generation to build. To the extent that COVID-19 had anything to do with the rise in crime, it is the result of the gratuitous prison releases that were done under the false pretense of stopping the spread of COVID-19 in jail.
BLM Activist Threatens Kansas City Police: ‘We Gonna Blow Your Motherf-cking Head Off’

Additional footage of the protest shows people in vehicles trying to make their way through the blocked-off intersection.
In addition to protests in Kansas City, police declared a riot in downtown Portland, Oregon, on Tuesday after rioters smashed windows and blocked traffic.
Gunshots were fired in Minneapolis, where a festival had been planned, and caused reporters to scramble while live on-air. One person was reportedly injured in the incident.

Judge Refuses CNN’s Motion to Dismiss Dershowitz Defamation Lawsuit

Legal scholar Alan Dershowitz’s defamation lawsuit against CNN over its coverage of former President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial can continue after a judge refused the network’s motion to dismiss.
Dershowitz alleged CNN provided an edited version of his remarks and a misleading narrative about his views that damaged his reputation as a scholar. He’s seeking $300 million in damages, the Hollywood Reporter said Tuesday.
The judge said CNN fell short of a standard of fairness despite agreeing with the network that journalists have discretion and aren’t obligated to present all information that puts its subject in a positive light.
The lawsuit said CNN painted Dershowitz as an “intellectual who had lost his mind” by re-airing a clip of his comments during the impeachment trial that omitted a portion of his statement.
Portland police declare riot on George Floyd death anniversary as fires set, windows smashed; arrests reported

A crowd of roughly 200 people – many dressed in black – gathered outside the city’s Multnomah County Justice Center. Some lit a dumpster on fire and tagged the justice center with graffiti, while others yelled, “Burn the building down,” police said.
Some in the crowd also threw frozen water bottles and eggs at officers, along with metal spikes in the road, Portland police said. At one point fireworks were set off, according to a video posted on Twitter by Portland Mercury news editor Alex Zielinski.
Later, police said the crowd marched to City Hall and broke windows. Around 10 p.m., a riot was declared, they added.
Marchers later smashed the windows of local businesses, including a Starbucks shop and a Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the Oregonian reported.
Kelley Paul Warns Rand Haters: ‘Yes, We Have Guns’

Kelley Paul’s references were to a number of news stories, including a neighbor’s attack of the senator, a mob of protesters surrounding them leaving former President Donald Trump’s nomination acceptance speech the Republican National Convention, and the most recent Senate grilling of the U.S. infectious disease expert on the indirect funding from the Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease for coronavirus research at the WIV.
Paul’s effectiveness in exposing Fauci might have led to another potential attack, this one a suspicious package that threatened violence against the senator, The Washington Post reported.
Kelley Paul rebuked the reportage as “lies” from the Post, also tweeting Tuesday:

California’s Newsom ordered to pay $1.35M in settlement with LA-area church over coronavirus restrictions

Mat Staver, founder of the Liberty Counsel, which represented the Harvest Rock Church of Pasadena, called Newsom the “worst governor in America” for religious liberty, according to the Washington Examiner.
“The church stayed open [during the lockdown], and the pastor and parishioners were threatened with daily criminal charges that were up to a year in prison,” he said.
The settlement amount is to repay the church’s attorney costs and fees in the lawsuit brought against Newsom’s administration last summer.
Judge Approves Cooperation Deal for Epstein Guards Who Were On Duty but Not Watchful

Two Bureau of Prisons employees who covered up their failure to check on Jeffrey Epstein before the high-profile inmate was found dead in his cell in August 2019 will each serve 100 hours of community service under deferred prosecution agreements approved in court Tuesday afternoon.
According to the indictment, Noel allegedly filled out more than 75 separate 30-minute round entries falsely affirming that she and Thomas had completed rounds every 30 minutes checking that each inmate was alive and accounted for in his cell.
Pursuant to their agreement with federal prosecutors, the two Bureau of Prisons employees will serve no jail and instead will cooperate with an ongoing probe by the Justice Department’s inspector general by providing truthful information related to their employment by the Bureau of Prisons, including about the events and circumstances described in the indictment.

GOP senators grill Fauci on Wuhan lab funding, origins of COVID-19

Republican senators grilled Dr. Anthony Fauci about grant funding provided to the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origins of COVID-19 during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing Wednesday — as pressure mounts for him to be fired over his shifting positions on the issues.
Kennedy went on to raise concerns about the Chinese Communist Party’s level of influence over the World Health Organization, to which Fauci responded that he has confidence in the WHO’s independence.
Republicans have also been highly critical of Fauci following his recent remarks that it is possible COVID-19 could have originated out of a lab, after GOP lawmakers came under fire last year for repeatedly raising the possibility.
Graham said that if it is found that the deadly virus did originate in the Wuhan Institute of Virology, he feels it is critical there be significant consequences.
“I think we should send a clear signal to China, it seems to be a source of a lot of pandemics, that if this did occur in the lab, expect something to happen, because if we don’t, we’re just going to reinforce this in the future,” he said.
U.S. senators want review of Chinese donations to U.S. universities

U.S. senators offered legislation on Wednesday that would require national security reviews of major Chinese gifts and contracts to U.S. universities.
The measure, an amendment to a broad bill seeking to boost U.S. competitiveness with China, would require the federal government’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) to review grants and contracts from China whose value exceeds $1 million.
The broad bill could come up for a vote in the Senate as soon as this week. It must also pass the House of Representatives before being sent to the White House for President Joe Biden to sign into law.

Biden Administration OKs California Push for Offshore Wind Farms

Aiding the Golden State’s ambitious quest for a 100% green energy grid, the Biden administration on Tuesday gave the nod to a planned armada of floating offshore wind farms off California’s coast.
Under the plan, the Biden administration will partner with the state and private sector to develop floating wind farms throughout a nearly 400-square-mile stretch near Morro Bay.
It says it will help clear regulatory hurdles and greenlight locations that won’t interfere with military operations.
Though the feds and state are now securely behind the idea, offshore wind developments could be held up by litigation or California’s notoriously lengthy environmental review process.
But some of the nation’s most influential environmental groups have signed on as sponsors to Chiu’s legislation, including the Natural Resources Defense Council and Sierra Club.
Yellen skips House small business hearing, defying legal requirement and angering both parties

According to the $900 billion Covid-19 relief bill Congress passed in December, Yellen and Small Business Administrator Isabel Guzman are required to testify before both chambers’ committees on small business to help oversee the disbursement of aid.
Velazquez and fellow lawmakers had hoped to question Yellen given Treasury’s significant role in instituting the nearly $1 trillion Paycheck Protection Program, more directly managed by the SBA. Her failure to attend also comes in contrast to former Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s appearances before the body during President Donald Trump’s term.
That Yellen — a longtime public servant and well liked by both parties as former Federal Reserve chair — would skirt a statutory obligation is striking.
The bipartisan scolding for her absence is also notable given the Biden administration’s stated effort to work closely and foster relations with all members of Capitol Hill.
WATCH: ‘U.S. Embassies Are Celebrating Black Death’: Candace Owens Blasts Biden Administration Letting Embassies Fly BLM Flag

“And it really makes you ask questions: Why is America promoting this so much? Why is America promoting Black Lives Matter, which is a corporation, right?” she continued.
“So think of it as a corporation. Black Lives Matter raises money, and it’s dark money, Tucker, because nobody knows where the money goes. So why would the U.S. government stand behind that? Where’s the due diligence here?”
“If the U.S. State department is going to stand behind this, shouldn’t the U.S. State Department also issue, maybe, a memo out to let us know where the money’s going?” she asked.
“Wouldn’t that be the responsible thing, since Joe Biden wants to give billions more dollars to the IRS so they can take billions more from American taxpayers?
Maybe he can also invest some of that money going to the IRS to look into Black Lives Matter and tell us where the money’s going.”
Mike Lindell Kicked Out of Republican Governors Association Conference After Promising to Confront AZ and GA Governors About Election Fraud

Lindell said that he had flown in for the three day conference, but minutes after getting his credential at the JW Marriott Hotel one of the event coordinators approached him and said he would not be permitted to attend any of the RGA events.
Earlier in the day, Lindell appeared on Steve Bannon’s War Room and stated that he would be confronting Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey about election fraud in their states at the conference.
Lindell has attended multiple RGA meetings in the past without any problems.

Sen. Chuck Grassley: Confirming David Chipman to ATF like Putting Antifa in Charge of Portland Police

Grassley began his comments by noting, “Chipman seems to have worked for every prominent gun control group in the country,” and by citing CNN’s description of Chipman as “a fierce advocate for gun control.”
He then noted specific areas of concern in Chipman’s gun control advocacy, such as, “Misleading the public about modern sports rifles, arguing against popular magazine sizes…[and] advocating for universal background checks.”
Grassley added, “Of particular concern is the contempt with which [Chipman] seems to view ordinary Americans who buy and carry firearms.”
The National Shooting Sports Foundation’s Mark Olivia told Breitbart News, “David Chipman should be nowhere near a position of public trust when he’s shown utter contempt for citizens who choose to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

China Braces for Summer Floods as 71 Rivers Exceed Warning Levels

Rain in some parts of central and southern China has hit record highs in recent weeks even though overall precipitation is about 10 percent lower this year compared with last year, according to the Ministry of Water Resources.
Water levels on the Yangtze and its tributaries were expected to rise further over the next week, the ministry said, and it warned of major floods throughout the country from June to August.
Some monitoring stations are issuing alerts, with the Wuhan city section of the Yangtze river in central China more than two yards higher than the normal at this time of the year as a result of heavy rain upstream.

Macau police ban Tiananmen Massacre vigil again, citing subversion, defamation and Covid-19 concerns

Macau authorities have banned the city’s annual Tiananmen Massacre vigil for a second time, on the grounds that the event’s purpose and slogans would violate a series of local criminal laws, including instigating subversion and defamation.
Slogans such as “end one-party rule” or “stop political persecution” would constitute instigating subversion of the existing system, harm public confidence in the authorities, and commit defamation,
Macau democratically elected lawmakers Antonio Ng and Au Kam-san announced the police ban on their Facebook pages on Wednesday.
Shell: Netherlands court orders oil giant to cut emissions

The Shell group is responsible for its own CO2 emissions and those of its suppliers, the verdict said.
It is the first time a company has been legally obliged to align its policies with the Paris climate accords, says Friends of the Earth (FoE).
The environmental group brought the case to court in 2019, alongside six other bodies and more than 17,000 Dutch citizens.
Though the decision only applies in the Netherlands, it could have wider effects elsewhere. BBC Netherlands correspondent Anna Holligan tweeted that it was a “precedent-setting judgement”.
China is ‘feeling the heat’ as experts begin to favour Wuhan lab leak theory
Mr Bolt spoke with Flinders Medical Centre Director of Endocrinology Professor Nikolai Petrovsky, who said opinions have now swung “very much” against China regarding the origins of COVID-19.
“I think most scientists are waking up to the fact that they were bamboozled last year,” Professor Petrovsky said.
“By people who had very close connections with China which were pushing this agenda to label anyone that suggested the possibly even of this being a laboratory leak was somehow a bad scientist or a conspiracy theorist.”
Commentary/Opinion:

Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Brown university economist Glenn Loury about why it’s controversial for a black man to be against diversity and inclusion, affirmative action, and reparations.
Glenn also shares his thoughts on why the narrative of systemic racism and racial disparities is wrong and how the Democratic party pushes lies to get the support of black voters.
In this clip Glenn explains his background, thoughts on COVID, reopening schools and how he came to be a minority voice that supports neoliberalism, capitalism, and free trade.
He also explains why he is critical of diversity and inclusion trainings, affirmative action in higher education and why slavery reparations would be a disaster for this country.
Glenn describes how the U.S. has come as close as it possibly can to solving institutional racism and why people hold on to the belief that systemic racism is the reason for racial inequality.
