Army announces gender-specific fitness test score percentiles after women’s high fail rates on gender-neutral test

The Army plans to implement the ACFT 3.0 on April 1, 2022.
The gender-specific percentile tier system is being introduced as female soldiers have earned fewer points on average than their male counterparts and there have been concerns lower test scores on a gender-neutral standard will disadvantage female soldiers being considered for promotions.
The Washington Post reported last fall, based on early ACFT scores, 54 percent of female soldiers failed the gender-neutral standard, as compared to 10 percent of male soldiers.
Preliminary results also showed female soldiers performed 100 points lower on the test, on average, than their male counterparts.
Feds spent more than $1 billion on bioweapons detection system that mostly doesn’t work

The BioWatch system was introduced in 2003 by President George W. Bush in response to the anthrax attacks that killed and seriously sickened a number of Americans in the days following 9/11.
BioWatch was supposed to be a system that surveils aerosolized biological agents.
The system is comprised of hundreds of machines that collect air from public places around the country’s most populous cities and send samples to a lab that tests for harmful pathogens.
But since at least 2013, Congress has been told that despite spending $1 billion in 10 years on the project, the machinery is not reliably able to detect biological attacks.
DHS has continued housing and spending taxpayer dollars (at least $76 million annually) on the system.
Jen Psaki Struggles to Explain Why Migrants Get Hotel Rooms, National Guard Sleeps on Floor

Psaki did not dispute reports that the Biden administration awarded a Texas-based nonprofit $86 million to provide hotel rooms for six months for approximately 1,200 families who cross the southern border.
Newsmax reporter Emerald Robinson questioned Psaki on why the Biden administration would provide hotel rooms, food, and shelter for migrants even as American national guard troops were forced to sleep on the floor when they protected Capitol Hill.
“That’s a disparity a lot of people are pointing out, that our National Guard was treated one way and then illegal immigrants are going to be put in hotel rooms,” Robinson said referring to comparisons spreading on social media.

Court: University officials personally liable for constitutional violations

For the second time, a court has ruled that University of Iowa officials can be held personally liable for violating the constitutional rights of students.
In the latest case, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of a student club, Business Leaders in Christ, which was banned by University of Iowa officials because it required that its leaders be Christian.
The court said the law “is clear: state organizations may not target religious groups for differential treatment or withhold an otherwise available benefit solely because they are religious.”

Inside a crowded border patrol tent in Donna, Texas

Each of eight “pods” in the so-called soft-sided facility has a 260-person occupancy, said Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), who provided the photos to Axios to raise awareness about the situation. But as of Sunday, he said, one pod held more than 400 unaccompanied male minors.
- Because the Biden administration has restricted media coverage at housing facilities, images like these offer a rare window into conditions.
- Cuellar, who recently visited a shelter for children, did not tour the Donna facility or take the photos himself. He said the photos were taken over the weekend.
Cuellar described the setting as “terrible conditions for the children” and said they need to be moved more rapidly into the care of the Department of Health and Human Services.

NYT on Vaccines: How Trump Got It Right, and Europe Fell Far Behind

In a deep dive article published over the weekend, the New York Times chronicles some important lessons from the ongoing Coronavirus vaccine distribution saga.
The Washington Examiner’s Byron York summarizes the findings with three take-aways: First, “Trump’s leadership on vaccine was vastly better than anyone in Europe.”
Second, “when it came to a vaccine, Britain was smart to leave the EU.” Third, elite opinion was “dreadfully wrong” on both counts.
The piece begins with a vignette of President Trump fielding calls from European leaders desperate for advice about how they might belatedly replicate some of America’s success in this critical area.
They still haven’t caught up:
Illegal Immigrant Says He Crossed The Border Because Biden, Not Trump, Was President

This migrant is one of the many illegal aliens who flooded across the U.S.-Mexico border shortly after Biden assumed office and eradicated many of Trump’s immigration and border security policies such as “requiring asylum-seekers to wait [in Mexico] for their court proceedings.”
Last week, Customs and Border Protection agents arrested more than 10,000 illegal aliens in the Rio Grande Valley, bringing the March migrant crossing numbers for that particular area well above 34,000 people.
It was during this time that the Biden administration also issued an unofficial gag order to cut off the press from accessing data held by federal officials about the total number of illegal immigrants that had crossed.

Biden taps tech antitrust advocate Lina Khan for FTC, in yet another bad omen for Silicon Valley

Khan will be the one of three Democratic commissioners at the agency, which oversees privacy, data security and some antitrust enforcement, at a time when the FTC has faced sharp criticism for not doing enough to police major tech firms like Google and Facebook over their privacy practices and past mergers.
Biden still needs to fill the remaining Democratic slot, which will play a crucial role in deciding the agency’s approach to the tech industry.
A professor at Columbia Law School since last year, Khan served as an aide to the House Judiciary antitrust subcommittee’s probe into antitrust and major tech platforms including Amazon, Apple, Google and Facebook. As part of the 16-month investigation, Khan honed in on Google’s conduct in the online search market,
ICE is ‘securing’ hotel rooms for migrant families & they cost HOW MUCH?!
The Biden administration just granted an $86.9 million contract to ICE to “provide temporary shelter and processing services for families” that have crossed the border illegally but are still undergoing immigration proceedings, says Fox News.
The contact will provide 1,239 additional beds for migrant families. So, that calculates out to…HOW much per bed?!

Social Distancing and Wearing Masks Could Last ‘Years’, Says Govt Scientist

Dr Mary Ramsey claimed on Sunday that social distancing and other practices like wearing a face-covering would go on for “quite a long period of time”.
“People have got used to those lower-level restrictions now, and people can live with them, and the economy can still go on with those less severe restrictions in place.
“So I think certainly for a few years, at least until other parts of the world are as well vaccinated as we are, and the numbers have come down everywhere, that is when we may be able to go very gradually back to a more normal situation,” Dr Ramsey said, according to the BBC.
