CDC Knew of COVID-19 Test Issues Before Sending to States
NPR reported that the CDC’s infectious disease lab designed and built the test as it became clear that the coronavirus would pose a health threat in the United States.
But as a scientist was doing a final quality control test on the test kit, it was discovered that the test had a 33% failure rate.
Officials told NPR that a failure rate like that would normally prevent a test from going out, but the CDC ultimately decided to release it anyway.
Jennifer Rakeman, the director of the New York City Public Health Laboratory, told NPR, “It was very truly an ‘oh, crap’ moment.
These reagents aren’t working; everybody is waiting for us all over the city to have this test online. We think we have more cases than we’ve been able to detect and the test isn’t working.”
Affidavit: Man accused of throwing his 5-month-old from his car seat, causing the child head trauma
Ralph Terrazas was arrested Tuesday in connection with the Sept. 26 incident and charged with injury to a child knowingly.
According to the affidavit, the child’s mother was arguing with Terrazas and placed the child’s car set on the couch and unbuckled the baby without taking him out.
Terrazas then allegedly grabbed the car seat and swung it, causing the baby to fly out and hit the floor face first, the affidavit said. The woman told police Terrazas knew the baby wasn’t restrained in the car seat.
Connecticut rapist nabbed in Florida after 44 years on the lam and assuming dead child’s identity
Douglas Bennett, 76, a former drama department instructor at Mount Holyoke College, the prestigious private liberal arts college for women, was taken into custody in Clearwater, Fla., where he had been living for years.
Bennett disappeared before he could be sentenced in the brutal rape of a 22-year-old woman in Wethersfield, Conn., prosecutors said. He was facing a sentence of nine to 18 years behind bars after his trial and conviction. He was out on bail as he awaited sentencing.
“A fingerprint comparison confirmed that Bennett was the same person convicted in Connecticut in 1975,” Tampa federal prosecutors said in a news release Thursday.
Illinois woman, 22, raped, strangled and set on fire in forest preserve: authorities
Vanessa Ceja-Ramirez, 22, was reported missing Monday after going for walk with her mother and a friend in the Midlothian Meadows Forest Preserve.
Her body was found Wednesday and the Cook County coroner said her death was “beyond gruesome,” Fox 32 Chicago reported.
“She was beaten, partially burned and someone intercepted her, and possibly pulled her into a wooded area and basically tortured her,” community activist Andrew Holmes told the station.
Facebook Oversight Board member claim’s Trump loss would suddenly end global ‘wave of hate and intolerance’
Karman had previously tweeted in Arabic earlier this week that a Trump loss would lessen “hatred and intolerance” across the globe.
“With the fall of Trump, the wave of hatred and intolerance will decline in the world, not only in America,#أمريكا It is heading to tide over one of the most heinous waves of hate,” Karman wrote, according to Google’s translator tool.
Karman’s role on the Facebook Oversight Board makes the anti-Trump tweets alarming, as they can be seen as a signal that she might not be able to fairly do her job.
Navy, Marines agree to integrated plan for southern commands
The Integrated Maritime Campaign Support Plan, a document regularly updated and modified, spells out strategies to better coordinate the 4th Fleet’s Southern Command and Marine Corps Forces South.
The plan acknowledges the requirement to meet the challenges of long-term competition for influence with China and Russia.
It also specifies a continuation of cooperative maritime security operations with partner nations in the Caribbean Sea and in Central and South America.
New Air Force 6th-Gen aircraft takes flight with F-35
While early subcomponent prototyping and conceptual was underway over the last year, some raised the question as to whether it made sense to even build a new airframe given the promise and sophistication of the F-35.
There are two interesting points here, one is that there likely are technological advances significant enough to inspire an interest in building an entirely new platform, and the other is the expectation that a huge priority will be placed upon 5th-to-6th Gen interoperability and massive amounts of continued F-35 modernization.
As for the first point, some early questions seem to have been resolved to a certain extent, given that a new 6th-Gen aircraft has already flown.
2nd PA USPS whistleblower: Postmaster ordered late ballots picked up; thinks they will be BACKDATED
Project Veritas released an interview with another U.S. Postal Service worker, where the worker described how his leadership here ordered all late ballots to be postmarked for Nov. 3, Election Day.
“All these ballots that were coming in–today, tomorrow, yesterday—are all supposed to be postmarked the third,” said the postal service employee, who works out of the USPS General Mail Facility here.
The Project Veritas Insider said the supervisors are collecting the ballots and making sure they are postmarked.

Man who allegedly tried to strangle cop with chain is resident of psychiatric facility
Levon Wheeler, 30, allegedly shoved a cop to the ground and pressed the chain on the officer’s neck at Bond Street and Broadway in Noho on Thursday night, cops said.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration and disorderly conduct, cops said.
Records show he was released about a year ago from prison, where he was held on a second-degree attempted robbery charge.
A total of 18 people were arrested during Thursday night’s demonstrations, police said Friday morning.

Celebrities reacted to the close 2020 presidential election by lashing out at Americans who voted for President Donald Trump, denouncing them as racists and sexists.
In a now-deleted tweet, Monáe shared a photo on Twitter of her giving the middle finger in a selfie with the caption, “F*** Donald Tromp and every American citizen, celebrity, white woman, black man, ETC who supported him burnnnnnnnnnn,”
On Election Day, the leftist entertainer shared a tweet that read, “ELECTORAL COLLEGE IS RACIST BULLS*** AND SHOULD BE ABOLISHED.”

Michigan county flips back to Trump, following repair of voting software glitch
The software had reportedly caused a significant number of votes to be allotted to Biden in a county that has for years been reliably red.
In the presumed final count, Biden had originally led in the county by roughly 3,000 votes. Revised totals show that Trump won the county by around 2,500.
Addressing the alleged software glitch, Michigan GOP Chairwoman Laura Cox said Friday during a press conference that “47 counties [in Michigan] use this same software in the same capacity.”
“These counties that use this software need to closely examine their results for similar discrepancies,” she said.
Watchdog Finds 21,000 Dead Registrants on PA Voter Rolls in Final Weeks of Election
The Public Interest Legal Foundation, an election integrity group, says 92 percent of the registrants died more than a year ago. The group also says there is evidence of voting activity after death.
The findings were mentioned in an amended lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Department of State over its failure to maintain accurate voter rolls.
The PILF says that as of October 7, 9,212 registrants have been dead for five years, 1,990 registrants for 10 years, and 197 registrants for 20 years.
“Pennsylvania still left the names of more than 21,000 dead individuals on the voter rolls less than a month before one of the mostconsequential general elections for federal officeholders in many years,” the group said.

Trey Trainor to Newsmax TV: Voter Fraud Is Taking Place
Chair of the Federal Election Commission Trey Trainor believes voter fraud is taking place in states still counting ballots.
During a Friday appearance on Newsmax TV’s “National Report,” Trainor said locations not granting observers access to watch the ballot counting process could be involved in voter fraud.
“I do believe that there is voter fraud taking place in these places,” he said. “Otherwise they would allow the observers to go in.”
In Leaked Call, House Democrats Admit Socialism And Anti-Cop Rhetoric Cost Them Key 2020 Races
“[If] we are going to run on Medicare for All, defund the police, socialized medicine, we’re not going to win,” House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, a Democrat from South Carolina said on a leaked Democrat House caucus phone call.
A Washington Post congressional reporter receiving leaked information from a source with access tweeted part of the more than two-hour phone call on Thursday afternoon.
During the call, Rep. Abigail Spanberger of Virginia reaffirmed Clyburn’s concerns, saying that if leftists couldn’t reevaluate the platforms they relied on for the Nov. 3 election, they would lose in a landslide in the 2022 midterms.
“No one should say ‘defund the police’ ever again,” Spanberger said. “Nobody should be talking about socialism.”
Biden to deliver speech as ballot count shows him ahead of Trump
The speech from the former vice president, scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Friday from his hometown of Wilmington, Del., comes as he creeps closer to defeating President Trump to win the White House.

The field training event, in and around Japan, involved U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps forces and assets, and included maritime operations, amphibious landings, air operations, resupply efforts, integrated air and missile defense exercises, cybersecurity and space operations, and base security events.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the State Department took the East Turkestan Islamic Movement off its terror group list, a group that China blames for creating ethnic tensions in the northwest part of the country.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said the U.S. “has an ugly two-faced approach toward terrorist organizations,” noting that the group has a violent history.
“Terrorist organizations are terrorist organizations, period,” he added. “The U.S. should correct its mistake, not whitewash its position.”
