Stepfather, mother charged after child was forced to kneel on uncooked rice, hold lit firework in mouth until it exploded

The child’s face has a scar that a worker from the Department of Children and Families said came from the firework.
He told the worker that Grant beat him with a belt and threw him across a room before making him sleep in a trailer one night, then in a garage for five nights before moving him into the laundry room, the Courant reported.
He said he had to sleep in the laundry room for four months, and was only allowed to leave the room when he knocked to use the bathroom, but Grant would yell at him, the newspaper reported.
Police said Baptiste knew of the alleged abuse but did nothing to stop it.
Dana Stubblefield, ex-NFL great, sentenced to 15 years to life after rape conviction

The 49-year-old former defensive lineman for the San Francisco 49ers, Washington Football Team and Oakland Raiders, was convicted in July of rape by force, oral copulation by force and false imprisonment.
The woman, who was then 31, traveled to Stubblefield’s home on April 9, 2015, to interview for a job babysitting his children. Investigators say she left after 20 minutes, but she returned when Stubblefield texted her that he wanted to pay for her time.
After raping her, investigators said, Stubblefield gave her $80 and let her go.
The woman immediately went to the Morgan Hill Police Department and reported the rape, prosecutors said.
Slain Utah college student’s family gets $13.5M settlement

University of Utah President Ruth Watkins and the parents of Lauren McCluskey announced the settlement at a joint news conference in Salt Lake City that came on the second anniversary of her death.
The case brought new national attention to campus safety and dating-violence issues at universities, spurring several changes at the University of Utah.
McCluskey, 21 of Pullman, Washington, had contacted university police more than 20 times to report harassment by the man she had dated before she was found fatally shot in a car near on-campus student housing in October 2018
“We failed Lauren and her family,” Watkins said. “If these employees had more complete training and protocols to guide their responses, the university believes they would have been better equipped to protect Lauren.”

Man accused of killing his estranged wife is later shot by deputies, La Marque police say

The killing happened around noon when police were called to a shooting in the 400 block of Hawks View.
Police went into the home and found the victim, 30-year-old Savannah Paschal, with gunshot wounds to her torso. Savannah was taken to the hospital where she later died, police said.
Sheriff’s deputies and La Marque police later found the suspect and a friend in another vehicle that was stopped at the Walmart on I-45 at West Road.
Deputies said they ordered the pair to exit the vehicle, and that’s when Trent allegedly pulled out a gun.

According to a case report provided by Edmond Police Department, police questioned Meyer on Oct. 16 after a woman shopping in the Target with her minor daughter alleged Meyer was using his cell phone camera in an attempt to take photos or video up her daughter’s skirt.
The reporting individual told police Meyer had placed his phone in his handheld shopping basket and repeatedly held or set the basket near her daughter.
Michigan chiropractor sues over statewide mask mandate

The Michigan Supreme Court on Oct. 2 ruled Whitmer’s executive orders after April 30 were unconstitutional and recommended Whitmer and the legislature work together to protect Michiganders from COVID-19.
Since then, Whitmer has turned to a backup source of power, including MDHHS, to issue and enforce her now-void orders.
The lawsuit was announced Wednesday, the same day Whitmer and other state officials “sounded the alarm bells” about rising rates of COVID-19 as winter draws near and Michiganders spend more time inside, where it’s more likely to spread the respiratory virus.

Left-wing groups seek to pressure Biden on chief of staff pick

The poll of chiefs of staff,a copy of which was exclusively obtained by POLITICO, is an unusual gambit and shows the level of organization among progressives as they press Biden to embrace a more left-wing agenda.
A chief of staff is traditionally the most important person in the White House besides the president, as they are the ultimate gatekeeper managing access to the commander in chief.
Biden “should not install someone as chief who’s been part of the problem for the last generation,” said David Segal, Demand Progress’ executive director.
Segal argued that Reed and Ricchetti fell into that camp because “they have both spent their careers working on behalf of corporate elites and the very wealthy and have enriched themselves in doing so.”
Former never-Trumper James Lindsay on why he just CAN’T vote for Joe Biden

This is a moment “Cynical Theories” author James Lindsay probably hoped would never come.
The liberal mathematician and host of the “New Discourses Podcast” recently came out as “unhappily” voting Republican, including for President Donald Trump, because the Democratic Party is now being controlled by a far-left movement that seeks to destroy our country and the U.S. Constitution.
He joined Glenn Beck on the radio program Thursday to explain why this election isn’t “Trump versus Biden.”
It’s Trump versus a “movement that wants to tear apart American society at its very foundation.”
Lindsay warned that if it isn’t stopped, the left can toss out our rights by rewriting the Constitution — or abolishing it altogether.
Trump Seeking To Declassify Document Contesting Findings That Russia Sought To Help Him In 2016

Trump and Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe are reportedly seeking to declassify the document by Thursday evening at the request of California Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, according to Reuters.
The intelligence community long ago concluded that Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election broke in favor of Trump, regardless of the later finding that Trump’s campaign had not colluded with nation.
The report comes less than a day after Ratcliffe and FBI Director Christopher Wray announced that both Russia and Iran had separately obtained some U.S. voter registration information and were using it to meddle in the 2020 election.
Wray and Ratcliffe say Russia and Iran were behind recent spoof emails reportedly from the Proud Boys group that sought to threaten voters into voting for Trump.
Sen. Ron Johnson: Election interference from the left is WORSE than Iran’s
Commentary/Opinion:
The Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe, announced Wednesday that Iran was caught attempting to interfere in the 2020 US election.
In emails posing as members of the right-wing group the “Proud Boys,” Iranian officials intimidated voters seemingly with the hope it would result in negative press for President Trump.
Sen. Ron Johnson details to Glenn this newly unveiled foreign interference, but he also explains why it PALES in comparison to the election interference currently being done by the left — by both Democrats in power AND the mainstream media.
What to Look For During the Final Trump & Biden Debate | DIRECT MESSAGE | RUBIN REPORT
Commentary/Opinion:
Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report shares what he thinks voters need to be looking for in the final presidential debate.
He gives his prediction of what to expect from President Donald Trump and Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden, but also the moderator, NBC News’ White House correspondent Kristen Welker.
Dave will also give his thoughts on some of the new rules that the debate commission changed for the last presidential debate, like the ability to mute the microphones of both presidential candidates.
Dave also discusses how Twitter has continued to lock The New York Post out of it’s Twitter account for its story on the Hunter Biden laptop scandal. He wonders how much Big Tech is interfering in the 2020 election without us knowing it.
Rep. Ilhan Omar retweets ‘defund the Pentagon’ call by congressional candidate

In July, Omar had released a statement criticizing the House of Representatives’ vote on the National Defense Authorization Act.
“Now is not the time to spend another $740 billion on a defense budget while thousands of Minnesotans are unable to make ends meet.
Omar’s statement included only a broad criticism of DOD spending, and did not indicate whether the congresswoman opposes the entire budget or part of it.
In 2019, Omar falsely claimed that 57 percent of U.S. spending is on defense. Her claim was fact-checked by Politifact, who pointed out that defense spending comprises just 15 percent of the U.S. budget. Even among discretionary spending, less than 50 percent goes to defense spending.
The call to defund the DOD comes as progressives have made similar calls to defund police departments and reallocate funding into social services and other police alternatives.

Harris, prominent Democrats listed as ‘key contacts’ for Biden family business venture projects
An email exclusively obtained by Fox News, with the subject line “Phase one domestic contacts/ projects” and dated May 15, 2017, Biden’s brother, Jim Biden, shared a list of “key domestic contacts for phase one target projects.”
The email is unrelated to the laptop or hard drive purportedly belonging to Hunter Biden, the former vice president’s son.
The list, included Harris, D-Calif.; Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.; Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn.; Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y.; New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo; New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio; former Virginia Gov. Terry McCauliffe, among others.
It is unclear if any of the Democrats were ever contacted about the “target projects.”
Hunter Biden business partner calls email ‘genuine,’ says Hunter sought dad’s advice on deals

“The reference to ‘the Big Guy’ in the much publicized May 13, 2017 email is in fact a reference to Joe Biden,” Bobulinski said in a statement to Fox News.
Bobulinski said he is the CEO of Sinohawk Holdings, which he explained “was a partnership between the Chinese operating through CEFC/Chairman Ye and the Biden family.” He said he was brought on as CEO by Hunter Biden and James Gilliar, who was listed as the sender of the email.
Bobulinski went on to say he does not believe Joe Biden’s past claim that he and Hunter did not discuss his son Hunter’s business, claiming that Hunter “frequently referenced asking him for his sign-off or advice on various potential deals.”
“I’ve seen Vice President Biden saying he never talked to Hunter about his business. I’ve seen firsthand that that’s not true, because it wasn’t just Hunter’s business, they said they were putting the Biden family name and its legacy on the line,” Bobulinski said.

Covid surge ‘very serious’ in Germany and ‘out of control’ in Spain

As multiple countries experienced record rises in infections – including some previously praised for the effectiveness of their response – a chorus of increasingly grim warnings was matched by announcements of tightening restrictions.
Spain’s health minister, Salvador Illa, added to the mounting sense of a region-wide crisis, saying “drastic” measures were necessary to combat a new wave of the pandemic. “The second wave is a reality. In many areas of our country, the epidemic is out of control,” Illa told Onda Cero radio.
State Department approves $1.4B sales of missile systems to Taiwan

The larger deal, estimated at $1.008 billion, would involve the sale of 135 AGM-84H Standoff Land Attack Missile Expanded Response, or SLAM-ER, Missiles and related equipment to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States.

“The recipient will be able to employ a highly reliable and effective system to increase their warfighting effectiveness as needed, which can counter or deter aggressions by demonstrated precision against surface targets.

Commentary/Opinion:
FBI Director Wray is Worse than Comey

Christopher Wray assumed office as the eighth director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on August 2, 2017. He was preceded by the odious coup-plotter James Comey.
We must now come to grips with the likelihood that Wray is worse for the country than Comey.
The old adage that “the cover-up is worse than the crime” is applicable here. Comey’s plot was seditious.
Wray’s conspiracy runs deeper.
He adopted the wrongdoing of Comey and talked it away in Washingtonian passive voice: “mistakes were made.”
Wray engaged in a program of damage control and institutional preservation for the disgraced FBI. He did not clean house and reform.
Wray is acting as a legal obstructionist, fighting tooth and nail to keep the full story of the corrupt “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation of President Trump and his associates from the American people.
