Minnesotans Face Months-Long Gun Delays in Obtaining Gun-Carry Permits
As many first-time gun buyers attempt to transition into first-time gun-carriers in the aftermath of rioting in Minneapolis, many are being told they will have to wait months just to turn in their application—well beyond the 30-day window set out in state law.
Other Minnesotans are being told they can’t renew their current permits until after they’ve already expired.
The backlog has caused significant consternation among gun owners—a key voting bloc in the pivotal swing state.
If state officials are unable or unwilling to bring wait times down, it could motivate gun owners to turn out at higher levels in 2020 and beyond.
Federal judge rules inmates are now eligible to receive stimulus checks
According to a Thursday report in the New York Post, those inmates who are otherwise eligible to receive the stimulus checks under the CARES Act may receive them.
In April, the Internal Revenue Service distributed tens of thousands of stimulus checks totaling approximately $1 million to incarcerated taxpayers. Following the April release, the IRS revised the guidelines for the program, and insisted instead that incarcerated taxpayers did not qualify for the stimulus and should return the funds.
Following the announcement, a group of prisoners filed a class-action lawsuit in order to get the funds they felt they deserved. Yaman Salahi, partner at the law firm Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein, represented the prisoners in the suit.
Even math is tainted by racism, says Wake Forest professor as school launches ‘anti-racist uses of math’ class
A recent write-up in the school’s newspaper, Old Gold & Black, outlines a one-credit course currently offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in which students learn about the many ways in which mathematical and statistical models have been employed to foment racism.
The course, officially titled “Racist/Anti-Racist Uses of Math & Stats,” is taught by department chair Sarah Raynor and reportedly deals with “biases in math and statistics” that ultimately result in racist policies such as “over-policing in majority-minority areas to practices in hiring.”
It has been run as a discussion-based course using the textbook, “Weapons of Math Destruction,” written by mathematician and Occupy Wall Street member, Cathy O’Neil.
Pompeo, DeVos Take Aim at Chinese Influence in American Schools
The letter primarily warned educators about the potential harms of Confucius Classrooms, the K-12 partners of college-level Confucius Institutes.
Confucius Classrooms are Beijing-funded initiatives for American schools that ostensibly support cultural exchange and competency—while subtly propping up a pro-Chinese Communist Party agenda.
“The presence of an authoritarian slant in curriculum and teaching has never been more concerning, nor more consequential,” the letter reads.
“At any grade level, the presence in U.S. classrooms of instructors supported by an authoritarian regime poses risks to our democratic values.”
Caged puppy set on fire in Ohio park; authorities searching for suspect
Firefighters responded just after noon to a fire at Walnut Hill Park in Columbus on Sunday and found the remains of a plastic cage still burning underneath a tree, Columbus Division of Fire said.
After putting out the fire, officials said firefighters spotted a dog running in the area. The puppy had black plastic melted on her back.
“As fire investigators, this is heart-wrenching and sickening for us,” investigator Mike DeFrancisco told WBNS-TV. “We see a lot of bad things on a daily basis, but this has cut a lot of our people to the core.”
Police arrest 26 people protesting Amy Coney Barrett nomination
These were just the latest arrests made as demonstrators protested Barrett’s confirmation hearing.
On Monday, Capitol Police arrested 21 people for crowding and obstruction outside Barrett’s confirmation hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.
Demonstrators also gathered at the Supreme Court to demand Senate Republicans and the White House hold off on filling the seat held by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away in September.
Supporters of Barrett’s also made themselves heard while brandishing “Confirm Amy” signs outside the hearing.
US gun sales soar amid pandemic, social unrest, election fears
That market is widening this year to include a new rush of first-time buyers, including many women, minorities and politically liberal buyers who once would not have considered gun ownership, according to Reuters interviews with more than a dozen industry experts, academics and gun store owners.
“People who don’t normally think about firearms are being forced to contemplate something outside their universe,” said Dan Eldridge, owner of Maxon Shooter’s Supplies and Indoor Range in the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines, Illinois.
The number of first-time buyers has skyrocketed this year, according to industry analysts, trade groups and the CEO of major gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson Brands Inc, Mark Peter Smith.

Twitter Blacklists Links to House.gov Document
Committee Republicans took action after Twitter began censoring links to the Post’s story, which alleges that Joe Biden, while Vice President, met with an executive at Burisma, the Ukrainian energy company where his son Hunter Biden was employed on a highly lucrative salary.
“Twitter has blocked users from tweeting the link to the @nypost‘s story on Hunter Biden,” said the official Twitter account of the House Judiciary GOP “So we put it on our website for you to read and share. Click, share, and RT!”
Presumably, House Republicans believed that Twitter would not dare censor an official government website. They were wrong —

The state’s Republican Party shared a screenshot of Driver’s offending remarks, which quickly went viral.
In a statement, state GOP Chairman Doug Steinhardt wrote, “President Trump earned nearly 43% of the vote amongst Mayor Driver’s constituents.
I think we all know she will never step down, but is it too much to ask for her to apologize?
Her comments are bigoted and hateful and quite frankly the silence on the left speaks to the character of party leaders like Tom Malinowski and Phil Murphy who lack the courage to stand up to people in their own party.”
According to WKXW-FM, Flemington Council Vice President Kim Tilly also called for the local government to censure Driver over the remarks.
Elections chairman resigns after removing and defacing Trump signs in South Carolina
Dean Smith was the chairman of the Georgetown County Board of Voter Registration and Elections up until his resignation this week. Constituents questioned whether Smith was fit to lead the elections commission following an incident where he vandalized Trump signs in Pawleys Island.
“People that called are concerned about the voting process with [the Smiths’] positions,” said Karol Anderson, who chairs the county Republican Party.
Smith, who has been a member of the elections board for 15 years, resigned abruptly this week after admitting that he and his wife removed and defaced Trump-Pence campaign signs.

Hot mic: Feinstein caught discussing Barrett’s ‘religion’ again
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., who infamously told Judge Amy Coney Barrett in a 2017 appeals-court confirmation hearing that her religious beliefs could disqualify her, has done it again.
In 2017, Feinstein told Barrett of her concern that “the dogma lives loudly within you,” prompting outrage because the Constitution forbids any religious test for federal office.
On Wednesday, Feinstein was heard saying, apparently regarding Barrett: “She’s been pro-life for a long time. So I suspect with her, it is deeply personal and comes with her religion.”
McConnell rejects Trump’s push for ‘higher’ coronavirus stimulus deal
Asked during an appearance in Henderson, Ky., whether there can be a compromise between the White House-backed $1.8 trillion proposal and a $2.2 trillion offer put forward by House Democrats earlier this month, McConnell pushed back.
“I don’t think so,” he said. “That’s where the administration’s willing to go. My members think what we laid out, a half a trillion dollars, highly targeted, is the best way to go.”
“What I’m going to put in the floor is what Senate Republicans, 52 out 53 of us, feel like it’s an appropriate response,” he said.
“You are correct there were discussions going on between the secretary of the Treasury and the speaker about the higher amount. That’s not what I’m gonna put on the floor.”
Utah County Mails Out More Than 13K Ballots With No Signature Line
It seems that almost daily we find stories about problems with mail-in voting.
Yesterday, we reported that a Pennsylvania county sent 29,000 ballots with the wrong races on them, and last week we reported on a story of an Ohio county that mailed incorrect absentee ballots to almost 50,000 voters.
The latest case of mail-in voting problems comes from Sanpete County, Utah, where over 13,000 mail-in ballots mailed to voters were missing the area for voters to place a signature, according to Breitbart.

Army secretary reveals that US hypersonic missile hit within 6 inches of its target: report
U.S. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy described the missile’s performance during a speech at the Association of the U.S. Army Conference on Tuesday, Defense News reported.
McCarthy was referring to the Department of Defense’s successful hypersonic glide body test earlier this year, according to Defense News.
The Army and Navy flight experiment was conducted from the Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai, Hawaii, on March 19.
Russia is also ramping up its efforts around hypersonic weapons.

China Had COVID-Like Patients Months Before Official Timeline
A series of leaked documents shows that patients in China with symptoms similar to COVID-19 were hospitalized months before the regime’s official timeline, throwing into question when exactly the CCP virus began spreading in Wuhan, China’s epidemic ground zero.
At least one patient started experiencing COVID-19-like symptoms in September 2019, according to hospital data obtained by The Epoch Times from a trusted source who has access to government documents. Dozens more were hospitalized over the following month.
Wuhan hospitals also reported several deaths in October 2019 due to severe pneumonia, lung infections, and other symptoms similar to COVID-19 patients.
