21 Protesters Arrested Outside Senate Office Building In DC Amid Supreme Court Confirmation Hearings
Multiple groups – both for and against Barrett’s confirmation – gathered outside the U.S. Supreme Court before the hearings began, WUSA9 reported. Those arrested were charged with “crowding, obstructing, or incommoding.” One was charged with “unlawful conduct,” police said.
“At approximately 8:35 a.m., United States Capitol Police responded to unlawful demonstration activities outside of the Dirksen Senate Office Building,” said Eva Malecki, communications director of the Capitol Police.
Jay-Z pays bail, citation fees for Black Lives Matter protesters arrested in Wisconsin
Violent riots broke out in the city last week after Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm announced that no charges would be brought against Joseph Mensah, the black Wisconsin police officer involved in the Feb. 2 shooting.
On Thursday, the Wauwatosa Police Department announced that several protesters were arrested for being in violation of the city’s curfew.
In the press release Friday, Team ROC blasted the arrests and called on Wisconsin Democratic Gov. Tony Evers to appoint a special prosecutor.
New York Supreme Court Dismisses Fordham First Amendment Case
Fordham senior Austin Tong filed a lawsuit against the university in July for disciplining him for posing with a legally owned firearm on social media. Judge Carol R. Edmead dismissed the suit as “meritless,” as private universities reserve the right to restrict free expression.
“It’s a ridiculously odd and unseen court decision,” Tong told the Washington Free-Beacon. “Despite the disappointing amount of political bias, we’re optimistic about the steps ahead that will come soon.”
Despite its name, the New York Supreme Court is not the state’s highest court, so Tong and his legal team can appeal the decision.
FDA list of fraudulent coronavirus products grows
The list now amounts to 118 firms, 72% of which are listed in a “corrective status,” meaning the products of concern are no longer sold.
The latest sellers dinged by FDA and Federal Trade Commission were Griffo Botanicals and Prairie Dawn Herbs.
Both companies offer herbal products cloaked with claims to mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose or cure coronavirus, the FDA wrote.
Man arrested for allegedly stuffing razor blades into pizza dough at Maine supermarket
Nicholas Mitchell, 38, was being sought by police after a customer at a grocery store in Maine reported finding the razor blades hidden inside of a prepackaged Portland Pie pizza dough that had been purchased from a Hannaford’s Supermarket.
Police said Mitchell was a former associate at a company that produced supplies for Portland Pie.
On Sunday, the Saco Police Department announced on Facebook that a nearby department in New Hampshire had taken Mitchell into custody in connection with the food tampering case.
“Hannaford Supermarkets has issued a recall for all Portland Pie cheese and Portland Pie fresh dough sold in the deli department,” the company said in a statement on its website.

California police arrest 76 after Lakers’ celebration turns ‘violent and destructive’
More than 1,000 Lakers fans gathered in downtown Los Angeles late Monday night to celebrate their team’s 106-93 win over the Miami Heat in Game 6 of the Finals, but things quickly escalated when some participants began throwing glass bottles and rocks at law enforcement.
“Unruly individuals mixed within the crowd began throwing glass bottles, rocks, and other projectiles at officers.
That is when an unlawful assembly was declared, and only a limited number of people complied and began to disperse.
A larger portion of the group broke off and began vandalizing businesses while continuing to engage in violent behavior, some aimed at responding officers.”
CDC Study Finds Overwhelming Majority Of People Getting Coronavirus Wore Masks
A study conducted in the United States in July found that when they compared 154 “case-patients,” who tested positive for COVID-19, to a control group of 160 participants from the same health care facility who were symptomatic but tested negative, over 70 percent of the case-patients were contaminated with the virus and fell ill despite “always” wearing a mask.
“In the 14 days before illness onset, 71% of case-patients and 74% of control participants reported always using cloth face coverings or other mask types when in public,” the report stated.
In addition, over 14 percent of the case-patients said they “often” wore a face covering and were still infected with the virus. The study also demonstrates that under 4 percent of the case-patients became sick with the virus even though they “never” wore a mask or face covering.
CNN skips historic Amy Coney Barrett hearing, gets bashed
The unprecedented news event was aired by MSNBC and Fox News as CNN largely ignored the early session.
“Aside from missing out on partisan commentaries from Senators that could just as easily be delivered by Brianna Keilar or Anderson Cooper, it’s sadly not surprising that CNN has shown little interest in the hearing,” NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck told Fox News.
“It’s as if the hearing hasn’t been going on this morning.
Just as soon as the statements from Chairman Graham and Ranking Member Feinstein concluded, CNN bailed,” Houck added. “And then it was back to their predictable drivel, trying to strike fear into the hearts of viewers on coronavirus and offer newscasts that are in-kind donations to the Biden campaign.”

‘I thought it was somebody playing a prank’: Man finds dozens of ballots in California trash
The trash cans are located in Santa Monica and contained several dozen ballots, as well as other mail such as bank statements and bills.
All of the mail was addressed to homes in the area.
“I thought it was somebody playing a prank,” he said. “Nobody’s going to throw ballot envelopes in the trash can.”
Jimenez alerted authorities to his discovery.
Separately, authorities in San Bernardino County also reported two batches of discarded mail found on city blocks last week.
In Los Angeles, another person found discarded ballots near an ATM.

On Monday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Today,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) dodged on whether it was a mistake to send COVID-positive patients back into nursing homes.
Co-host Willie Geist asked, “So, with 33,000, nearly, people dead in the state of New York, what have you learned, as you write about in the book, about the early stages that you can apply to later?
For example, was it a mistake to send those COVID-positive patients back into nursing homes?”
After Cuomo criticized the federal government’s response, Geist cut in to ask, “Governor, did you make any mistakes in this process? You’re talking about the federal government. What about you?”

Sky News host Andrew Bolt says the company Twitter is doing all it can now to “make Donald Trump lose next month’s election”.
“It’s frightening, it shows you the power of social media giants,” Mr Bolt said.
Following US President Donald Trump’s recent recovery from COVID-19, he tweeted out a message providing an update of his condition.
“A total and complete sign off from White House Doctors yesterday. That means I can’t get it (immune), and can’t give it. Very nice to know!!!” the president tweeted.
The president’s tweet was subsequently hit with a Twitter violation saying the message had violated the rules about spreading misleading and potentially harmful information related to COVID-19.

Brussels eyes bigger stick to take on Big Tech
The European Commission is beefing up its weapons to take on Big Tech.
Under Commission Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager, the bloc’s executive arm is planning to merge two major legislative initiatives on competition into a single text, EU officials told POLITICO.
One is the so-called New Competition Tool, a market investigation tool that would allow competition enforcers to act more swiftly and forcefully. The other is a part of the Digital Services Act, a new set of rules due to be unveiled in December for companies like Google, Apple and Amazon.
Combined, the new powers would be known as the Digital Markets Act and would carry a hefty wallop for tech giants in its crosshairs.

Shocked Liberal MPs are backing NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian after Monday’s extraordinary ICAC hearing which revealed she was formerly involved in a secret relationship with a disgraced former MP facing corruption allegations.

Brexit Britain May Scrap EU Rules Which Send Shipbuilding Overseas
Once the world’s premier shipbuilding hub, the United Kingdom has for many years been losing out not just to much larger low-wage and low-safety economies like China, but also to advanced and relatively small countries like South Korea.
Brexit campaigners have long argued that this decline is due in no small part to EU competition and tendering laws, which prohibit the government from supporting shipbuilding by reserving anything but “sensitive” warship contracts for domestic firms.
For example, a much-delayed £1.5 billion contract to build Royal Fleet Auxiliary vessels has been exposed to bids from Italian, Spanish, Japanese, and South Korean yards, with the government’s Ministry of Defence confirming foreign firms could offer their services in August — causing much controversy.
Judges Block Deportation of Migrant Drug Dealer, Cite ‘Human Rights’
An immigration tribunal judge had ruled that deporting the drug dealer would infringe on the European right to a family life, codified by the Labour-era Human Rights Act which the Conservatives have declined to repeal, as he has a “partner” and children in Britain.
The Home Office, the government department with broad responsibility for law enforcement, border control, and immigration, managed to get this decision overturned by a second, more senior immigration judge on appeal — but the convicted criminal is now back on top after yet another hearing before the Court of Appeal.
The migrant’s “steps after release to rehabilitate himself, his changed family circumstances, and his own evidence of his current attitude towards his offending, entitled the judge to conclude that he was most unlikely to reoffend and to treat that as having some weight in the assessment of whether there were very compelling circumstances outweighing the public interest in his deportation,” claimed Lord Justice Popplewell in his ruling, siding with the first immigration judge.
UK Govt Floats Idea of Disabling Migrant Boats with Nets
The latest scheme to reduce illegal immigration into the UK was floated by Clandestine Channel Threat Commander Dan O’Mahoney, who claimed that the method is “very close” to being deployed and that it would represent a “safe return tactic”.
“We definitely are very, very close to being able to operationalise a safe return tactic where we make an intervention safely on a migrant vessel, take migrants on board our vessel and then take them back to France. The problem with that currently is that the French won’t accept them back to France,” O’Mahoney told The Telegraph.

A local source said that the mosque had held secret prayer services over the past week, despite management’s claims that the mosque was shut after one worshipper died of coronavirus and a member of the management has been hospitalised with the virus.
The source supplied the local YorkshireLive news outlet photo and video evidence allegedly showing the staff at the mosque who are responsible for implementing a track and trace system failing to abide by social distancing and mask requirements.
The whistleblower also said that Imam Umar Hayat and other members of the management had not implemented proper safety restrictions.
Authorities at Heathrow Airport seize $2.48M from luggage of woman involved in alleged money laundering scheme
Tara Hanlon, of Leeds, West Yorkshire, was arrested on Oct. 3 while waiting to board a flight to Dubai, the U.K. Border Force confirmed in a news release. Authorities searched her bags and confiscated the stacks of cash, which amounted to the largest cash seizure by the force in all of 2020.
“This is the largest individual cash seizure at the border so far in 2020 and I am delighted with the efforts of Border Force officers,” said Chris Philp, the minister for Immigration Compliance and the Courts.
“Preventing the export of undeclared cash from the UK is a vital step in clamping down on organized criminal gangs.”
