Suspect in NYPD protest assault on Chief Monahan, other cops released without bail
One of the two men arrested for attacking an NYPD lieutenant and NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan was released without bail Thursday night, with the judge granting him supervised release.
Police identified him as 25-year-old Quran Campbell. The second suspect, Banks Shaborn, also 25, was being held on $10,000 bail.
A senior police official called these developments “stunning.”
China owes U.S. $1.7T sovereign debt
As scrutiny increases over the Chinese government, some are calling for more than $1.7 trillion in debt to be paid back to the United States.

CDC Employees Made More Than 8,000 Federal Contributions To PACs And Politicians Since 2015. Only 5 Went To Republican Causes, FEC Records Show
The contributions were made by more than 550 people who listed the CDC as their employer on FEC forms.
The contributors serve at various levels of management, ranging from nurses and information technology personnel to epidemiologists, public health advisors and the chief financial officer.
The most common recipient was ActBlue, an online fundraising platform for Democratic and left-leaning organizations.
Prosecutors drop felony charges against 87 Breonna Taylor protesters arrested at home of Kentucky AG
Two other misdemeanor charges against each of the protesters, which include trespassing and disorderly conduct, remain, but Attorney Mike O’Connell said the violations remain under review.
“While we do believe the LMPD had probable cause for the charge, in the interest of the justice and promotion of the free speech ideas, we will dismiss the charge for each protester arrested this past Tuesday,” O’Connell said in a statement, WLKY reported.
O’Connell’s office said it will work with protesters to expunge the felony from their records 30 days after the dismissal, WLKY reports.

According to The Sun, Trump’s comments came around the time that accuser Virginia Roberts Giuffre alleged that Epstein coerced her into having sex with Prince Andrew on three separate occasions when she was 17.
Sacramento Public Schools Promoting ‘Black Lives Matter’ on School Billboards
Two public schools in the City of Sacramento are showing their virtue loud and proud, by posting BLACK LIVES MATTER on their billboards. Crocker/Riverside Elementary School, and Sacramento City College, both in the downtown neighborhood of Land Park, have posted the message, and both are closed to students at the moment.
In June, California Globe reported that the Sacramento City Unified School District sent an email out immediately following the George Floyd incident claiming “racism that is prevalent throughout this country, including in Sacramento.”
This message went to all SCUSD employees, parents of SCUSD students, and community members, and infuriated parents and teachers alike.
California fines and fees are at least TRIPLE the national average
People who have lived in California for much or all of their lives have little grasp of how badly our CA state and local governments hammer the population and businesses with exorbitant fees. In every area.
The general rule of thumb is that CA fees are at least triple the average of the other states. And too often a LOT more.
Arguably the Golden State is one giant Hazzard County — the fictitious corrupt county run by the comically evil Boss Hogg. This mythical locale was made famous by the “Dukes of Hazzard” TV series.
Let’s compare some CA fees with the national fees. Two very different examples:
MEA loses court battle to force Ann Arbor teacher to pay union dues
As a result of Friday’s court decision, the MEA must cease their demands for dues payments, must update their records to show the teacher is not an MEA member, and may not have further contact with the teacher.
The MEA sued Deborah Wolter this past January in Michigan District Court, claiming the teacher owed past dues totaling more than $3,000 since September 2014.
With fellow Ann Arbor teachers Jeffrey Finnan and Cory Merante, Wolter is the third teacher from her school and more than a dozen other Michigan teachers to successfully extricate themselves from paying union dues with free legal assistance from the foundation.

Suspects Arrested in Shooting Death of Bronx Father Walking with Daughter
“Davon Delks, 21, of the Bronx; Laquan Heyward, 25, of Staten Island; and Devon Vines of the Bronx face murder charges for the death of Anthony Robinson, 28, said police.
All three suspects were reportedly gang members,” according to Fox 5.
Police were investigating if the shooting was in retaliation of another shooting the night before, the report noted.
Portland protesters flood police precinct, chant about burning it down
Local FOX affiliate KPTV reported the group made its way to the front of Portland Police Bureau’s East Precinct in central Portland early Thursday night, where they crowded the street as they chanted and played music.
The protest at the precinct was one of two demonstrations that took place on Thursday.
Several dozen people also gathered near the federal courthouse, news outlets reported and the crowd grew as the night progressed, according to The Oregonian.
Portland has seen 50 days of protests, prompting a visit from the Department of Homeland Security’s Acting Secretary, Chad Wolf, earlier in the day on Thursday.
FOX 35 INVESTIGATES: Questions raised after fatal motorcycle crash listed as COVID-19 death
FOX 35 News found this out after asking Orange County Health Officer Dr. Raul Pino whether two coronavirus victims who were in their 20s had any underlying conditions. One of his answers surprised us.
“The first one didn’t have any. He died in a motorcycle accident,” Pino said.
Dr. Pino was asked if the man’s data was removed.
“I don’t think so. I have to double-check,” Pino said.
Video: Boyfriend Desperately Tries to Protect His Girlfriend as Couple Beaten by Mob Inside Airport
The video is going viral on Twitter but it has yet to be established at which airport the incident took place.
The video then cuts to a disturbing scene of the boyfriend on top of the luggage belt desperately trying to shield his girlfriend from an attack as the mob tries to beat her.
The black women punch the young man in the head while trying to drag him away so they can get to the girl.
Respondents pointed out that airport employees appeared to be standing around doing nothing to intervene, with one even stood recording on their phone.

Justice Ginsburg says cancer has returned, but won’t retire
The 87-year-old Ginsburg, who spent time in the hospital this week for a possible infection, said her treatment so far has succeeded in reducing lesions on her liver and that she will continue chemotherapy sessions every two weeks.
“I have often said I would remain a member of the Court as long as I can do the job full steam. I remain fully able to do that,” Ginsburg said in a statement issued by the court.
She said her recent hospitalizations, including one in May, were unrelated to the cancer.

Democratic Party may have a date with ‘cancel culture,’ Princeton professors argue
Two professors from Princeton University co-authored a column published Thursday that took apart the country’s current “cancel culture” that they consider to be based on “twisted logic,” but they said if the trend continues – to be fair – the movement should consider relegating the Democratic Party to “the dustbin of history.”
The two then looked at the history of the Democrat Party that up to the 1960s “was the party of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, the Ku Klux Klan, lynching, poll taxes, and literacy tests for voting.”
They listed other offenses that Democrats committed in the previous decades– including President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s treatment of Japanese-Americans during WWII– and noted that the party has “been able to redefine itself over the past half-century as the champion of minorities.”
Bill Would Force Companies To Give Board Seats To Minority Candidates
Assembly Bill 979, authored by Assemblyman Chris Holden (D-Pasadena), would require companies to impose strict minimums on the number of African-American, Hispanic, and Native American board members a company must have.
For companies with fewer than 4, then 1 member must come from one of those minority groups. For companies with between 4 and 8 board seats they must have at least 2 minority held seats, with any larger boards than that having at least 3.
Should AB 979 pass, the law would become active in 2022. Any company that fails to comply by then faces large fines from the office of the California Secretary of State.
AB 979 has also been compared to SB 826, a 2018 bill that was passed and signed by former Governor Jerry Brown in which it gives similar mandatory board quotas for women. Many in Sacramento have even noted that AB 979 has almost identical quotas in place.
UPDATE: Feds zero in on Madigan in $200 million ‘plea’ deal with ComEd over bribery claims
Referring to him as “Public Official A,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office implicated House Speaker Michael Madigan in announcing criminal charges against utility company ComEd as part of a sweeping corruption and bribery probe that also has taken down state lawmakers.
The utility, which provides power to much of northern Illinois, agreed to pay a fine of $200 million to end a federal criminal investigation into a years-long bribery scheme tied directly to state government, federal prosecutors say.
ComEd “arranged jobs, vendor subcontracts, and monetary payments associated with those jobs and subcontracts, for various associates of a high-level elected official for the state of Illinois, to influence and reward the official’s efforts to assist ComEd with respect to legislation concerning ComEd and its business,” the office of U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch said in a statement.

The videographer, Sara Pearl, also retweeted a user’s comment that while “pigs are sweet, intelligent and compassionate,” police officers are “monsters” who “don’t deserve to be called pigs.”
On June 1, Pearl tweeted simply, “#DefundPolice.” Days later, she said Buffalo’s police department should be “defunded immediately.”
“Joe Biden can’t stand up to his supporters or staff who are calling to Defund the Police. Scary!” wrote Richard Grenell, Trump’s former director of national intelligence, after this article was first published.

The fundraising advantage for a newcomer challenging an incumbent is striking.
But it’s even more newsworthy because Omar quickly became a nationally known politician as one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, and for her outspoken criticism of President Trump.

Pentagon report: Turkey sent up to 3,800 fighters to Libya
The report comes as the conflict in oil-rich Libya has escalated into a regional proxy war fueled by foreign powers pouring weapons and mercenaries into the country.
The U.S. military has grown increasingly concerned about Moscow’s growing influence in Libya, where hundreds of Russian mercenaries have backed an attempt to capture the capital, Tripoli.
The quarterly report by the Pentagon’s internal watchdog, published on Thursday, said Turkey paid and offered citizenship to thousands of mercenaries fighting alongside Tripoli-based forces against east-based commander Khalifa Hifter’s troops.

While residents were busy rebuilding after the flood, the CCP’s state-run media reported that the river in the ancient town was surrounded by mist and looked like a fairyland.
Nigerian Lawmakers Debate ‘Chopping Off the Genitals’ of Rapists
Nigeria’s Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, “advocated for severe punishment for rapists as a way of fighting the rising cases” that could involve “chopping off the genitals” of convicted rapists, the Premium Times noted.
Nigeria documented 717 rape cases and 7,170 unreported rapes across Nigeria within the past five months, according to the report.
“The statistics are very alarming on the issue of rape. You hear figures in terms of rape and gender-based violence that are mind-boggling.
It’s only a deprived mind that can engage in rape. I consider the issue of rape as a pandemic. In my estimation, it’s a pandemic,” Gbajabiamila said.
