Man shot near Seattle’s CHOP says attack against him was racially motivated
Dejuan Young was shot on Saturday just hours after another shooting in the CHOP area during which one teenager was killed and three others were wounded.
Young says he was attacked just a block away from where the first shooting took place.
He said the force of the shot pushed him down onto the hood of a car.
“And they stood over top of me and continued to fire,” he said. “I tried to protect myself and got shot in the arm, and they got away.”
Grand jury indicts all three defendants in Ahmaud Arbery killing
Travis McMichael, Greg McMichael and William Bryan were indicted on malice and felony murder charges for the death of Arbery, a black man who was chased, shot and killed while jogging in south Georgia in February.
In total, the three men are being charged with nine counts of malice murder, four counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and criminal attempt to commit false imprisonment.
The three are being held in the Glynn County jail without bond.

Daily Caller reporter Shelby Talcott was surrounded by protesters and attacked Monday in Washington, D.C.
While some accused Talcott of being a police officer, one woman attempted to grab her phone.
Police ultimately pulled her back, handcuffed her and detained her briefly for her own safety.
Media Pushed Now-Debunked Noose Hate Crime Against NASCAR Driver
Following a report Sunday that a crew member found a noose in Wallace’s Talladega garage, media members credulously reported it as both true and a clear retaliation for Wallace’s Black Lives Matter activism.
Two days later, the FBI reported no hate crime had been committed and the “noose” in question was a garage door pull that had been placed in October, well before anyone knew Wallace would use that particular garage.
CBS This Morning host Gayle King called it a “disturbing backlash” to Wallace’s support for the Black Lives Matter movement and for his support of NASCAR’s recent ban on displays of the Confederate flag.
Bayer Agrees to Settle Roundup Lawsuits, Will Pay Over $10 Billion
The company said Wednesday the series of agreements brings closure to approximately 75 percent of current litigation involving Roundup, which was developed by Monsanto.
Bayer and Monsanto merged in 2018.
Approximately $8.8 billion to $9.6 billion will be paid to resolve the current litigation while $1.25 billion will be set aside to support a separate class agreement to address potential future lawsuits.
The agreements contain no admission of liability or wrongdoing.
FDA Investigating Outbreak Linked to Bagged Salads in Mid-West
The FDA said in a statement that the outbreak is potentially linked to “garden salads” sold in ALDI, Hy-Vee, and Jewel-Osco grocery stores and contained iceberg lettuce, red cabbage, and carrots.
The outbreak has caused 122 cases of illness that include 19 cases of hospitalizations but no deaths in the period from May 11 to June 15.
Hy-Vee brand garden salads were sold in stores in Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin whereas Jewel-Osco Signature Farms salads were sold in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa. Both the brands recalled their products on June 20 from the stores.
Some Activists Call for Toppling of Jesus Statues Amid Unrest
“Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down.
They are a form of white supremacy,” wrote political activist Shaun King, who is an open supporter of Black Lives Matter.
In Washington, vandals defaced the historical St. John’s Episcopal Church located just one block away from the White House.
The letters “BHAZ” (Black House Autonomous Zone) were scrawled on the pillars in front of the church. The zone has since been dismantled by police.
Meanwhile, some have publicly supported the comments made by King.

Oregon County Issues Coronavirus Mask Mandate, But Only For White People
The mandate gives exceptions from the new rules for certain people and groups including “people of color who have heightened concerns about racial profiling and harassment.”
Other exemptions applied to people with pre-existing health conditions that may be bothered by a mask, children under the age of 12, and people with disabilities directly related to wearing a mask.
The health officials also ordered that the directive only required voluntary compliance and that no one of any stature may physically or legally enforce the mandate.
“No person shall intimidate or harass people who do not comply,” health officials said.

“What I think was so important yesterday is President Trump talked about core American values. E Pluribus Unum – which means: ‘Out of many, one.’ He repeatedly mentioned in God we trust. One nation under God – kind of reinforcing a lot of the cultural issues in America,” Kirk told the “Friends” hosts.
South Dakota Gov. Noem vows to protect Mt. Rushmore: We won’t stand for ‘radical rewriting of history’
“This is no longer about equality,” Noem told “Fox & Friends” on Wednesday. “This is a radical rewriting of our history and in South Dakota we won’t stand for it.”
There’s no indication yet of any serious push against the towering monument and tourist attraction in the Black Hills of South Dakota, although Noem acknowledged on Wednesday that there has been “some activity online where people have made threats” that Mount Rushmore could be the subject of protests.
Also, the figures depicted have had their likenesses targeted elsewhere.
Protesters attack Wisconsin state senator in chaotic night at capitol: report

I believe this is State Senator Tim Carpenter. Minutes earlier he told us the protesters assaulted him. Then he collapsed walking towards the Capitol. We called paramedics. An ambulance is here now.
Sen. Tim Carpenter told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he was beaten after taking a photo of some of the protesters.
“I don’t know what happened,” he told the paper. “All I did was stop and take a picture and the next thing I’m getting five-six punches, getting kicked in the head.”
A reporter from the paper posted an image of Carpenter while he kneeled by his car.
Protesters rally at Atlanta jail, demand release of woman accused in Wendy’s arson
She is scheduled to go before a judge Wednesday.
White’s lawyer, Drew Findling, claims his client did not start the June 13 fire.
There have been rumors that White was Brooks’ girlfriend, something Brooks’ family denies. While Findling would not confirm those claims, he did say White and Brooks knew each other.
The protesters parked outside the jail told local reporters they would remain until White was released.

Few people ever could have imagined that Teddy Roosevelt would be canceled. Roosevelt was the most popular president in American history.
He was also a war hero, a historian, a naturalist, a rancher, a chief of police, an author, conservationist, as well as a father of six.
These aren’t protests. This is a totalitarian political movement and someone needs to save us from it.

Trump to sign executive order protecting federal statues, monuments
President Trump is expected to sign an executive order by the end of the week that would protect public statues and federal monuments and make vandalizing or any destruction to them punishable by jail time, Fox News has learned.
It is unclear, at this point, if the executive order would go further than that, but the president said Tuesday that it would simply “reinforce what’s already there, but in a more uniform way.”
“I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statute or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent,” Trump tweeted Tuesday.
Appeals court orders Flynn case dismissal, after years-long legal saga
The abrupt ending came in a 2-1 ruling and order from judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
This was the result of an appeal from Flynn’s lawyers asking for a so-called writ of mandamus — essentially an order telling a government official to carry out a certain duty — directing District Judge Emmet Sullivan to approve the DOJ’s motion to dismiss.
Sullivan did not immediately grant that motion and instead sought to hold hearings on the matter, angering Flynn allies.
Explosive New FBI Notes Confirm Obama Directed Anti-Flynn Operation
The handwritten notes from fired former FBI agent Peter Strzok appear to describe a Jan. 5, 2017, Oval Office meeting between Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Comey, Yates, and then-national security adviser Susan Rice.
The meeting and its substance were confirmed in a bizarre Inauguration Day email Rice wrote to herself.
The new notes, which record Comey’s accounting to Strzok of the meeting’s substance, constitute definitive evidence that Obama himself was personally directing significant aspects of a criminal investigation into his political enemy’s top foreign policy adviser.
Senate confirms Trump’s 200th judge, officially fills all appeals court vacancies
“The single most consequential thing we can do is these lifetime appointments of men and women to the court who believe that the job of a judge is to follow the law,” McConnell told the annual Values Voter conference in 2018.
And on Wednesday, McConnell said on the floor of the Senate that, “[o]nce we confirm Judge Wilson today, the Senate will have confirmed 200, 200 of President Trump’s nominees to lifetime appointments on the federal bench. And following number 200, when we depart this chamber today, there will not be a single circuit court vacancy in the country anywhere in the nation for the first time in at least 40 years.”
The majority leader also took a shot at Democrats, who have opposed Trump’s judicial nominees at an unprecedented rate.
Sen. Tim Scott rips into Democrats after GOP police reform effort fails in Senate
Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., ripped into Democrats Wednesday after the bill he authored on police reform failed in the Senate on a procedural vote, accusing Democrats of punting on the issue until after the election and abusing what he described as their “monopoly” on black voters.
“They cannot allow this party to be seen as a party that reaches out to all communities in this nation,” he said of congressional Democrats.
The procedural vote on whether to start debate was 55-45; it needed 60 votes in order to proceed. Republicans had 53 votes, but not enough Democrats joined them.
This effectively freezes police reform in Congress for now, even if the House approves its own measure on Thursday, despite a nationwide movement for reform since the death of George Floyd in police custody.

As of Wednesday afternoon, McGrath leads progressive state representative Charles Booker by just 4,000 votes.
While nearly 600,000 Kentucky voters returned absentee ballots amid the coronavirus pandemic, all votes reported thus far were made in person on Election Day.
In addition, no votes have been reported from the state’s most populous county, Jefferson. The county includes Booker’s home city of Louisville, where the addition of urban voters could erode McGrath’s lead.
Gary Peters Falsely Claims He ‘Never Voted Against a Pay Raise for Service Members’
“I’ve never voted against a pay raise for service members,” Peters said at a June 16 virtual fundraiser. “Taking care of veterans is important to me and to make sure we have a strong military is important.”
Peters, however, voted against pay raises for service members six times from 2015 to 2016.
He voted three times in 2015 and another three times in 2016 to block Defense Department funding bills that would have raised service members’ pay by 2.3 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively.
The 2016 bill Peters voted against passed the Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously and was praised as “bipartisan” by Wisconsin Democratic senator Tammy Baldwin.

Bronx middle school principal Jamaal Bowman is on the verge of defeating Rep. Eliot Engel (D., N.Y.) following Tuesday’s Democratic primary, potentially unseating an incumbent who has spent more than 30 years in Congress.
Bowman, who was heavily backed by the socialist left-wing of the Democratic Party, is currently leading Engel, the longtime chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, by a 61-36 margin (92 percent reporting).
The race, in which Engel was pilloried as out-of-touch with his district, echoed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s 2018 victory that unseated Rep. Joe Crowley (D., N.Y.), then the House’s fourth most powerful Democrat.
Fired NY prosecutor was given Biden-Ukraine allegations in 2018 but didn’t follow up, emails show
The memos show Little Rock, Ark., lawyer Bud Cummins, a former U.S. attorney himself, reached out at least five times in October 2018 to Berman seeking to arrange a meeting with then-Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko.
Lutsenko, who emerged as a key figure in the impeachment scandal, wanted to confidentially share with federal prosecutors in New York evidence he claimed to possess that raised concerns about the Bidens’ behavior as well as alleged wrongdoing in the Paul Manafort corruption case.
The allegations included that Joe Biden had “exercised influence to protect Burisma Holdings” after his son Hunter and his son’s business partner Devon Archer had joined the Ukrainian gas company’s board of directors and “substantial sums of money were paid to them,” Cummins wrote.

Nimitz Carrier Strike Group pulls into Guam for Safe Haven Liberty
After concluding dual-carrier flight operations in the Philippine Sea on June 21 with the USS Theodore Roosevelt strike group, the group consisting of the Nimitz, the Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton and Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers USS Sterett and USS Ralph Johnson arrived in Guam.
While at sea, the two strike groups supported air defense drills, sea surveillance, replenishments at sea, defensive air combat training, long-range strikes,coordinated maneuvers and other exercises.
The Nimitz has been embarked at sea for nearly three months.
USS Gabrielle Giffords, Japanese navy hold exercise in South China Sea
The purpose of the exercise, the Navy said, was to “practice and enhance bilateral interoperability between the two navies and to emphasize the importance of communications and coordination.”
The two Japanese vessels are involved in Training Cruise 2020, an exercise designed to give trainee officers experience and professional skills.
“The opportunity to operate with our friends and allies at sea is incredibly important for our combined readiness and partnership,” said Rear Adm. Fred Kacher.
Trump to sign defense cooperation agreement with Poland
“Last year we signed two joint declarations to increase our security collaboration, and we look forward to signing a defense cooperation agreement,” Trump said at a joint news conference.
Duda welcomed the new agreement as very important to European security and to Poland’s security in particular. He said there was a possibility more U.S. troops would be sent to Poland than agreed on previously.
Trump said Poland had asked for additional troops. “They’re going to pay for that … for the sending of additional troops and we’ll probably be moving them from Germany to Poland,” he said.

The sanctions will impact five captains who ferried 1.5 million barrels of gasoline to Venezuela last month.
The sanctions come as another Iranian shipment of cargo and other goods reached Venezuela’s Maduro regime earlier on Wednesday.

Deadly Mexico quake causes panic as buildings shake
A powerful earthquake has shaken buildings and caused panic in six Mexican states, killing at least six people.
It comes less than three years after an earthquake left hundreds dead and thousands homeless in Mexico City.
About 200 houses in the tourist town of La Crucecita were damaged on Tuesday, a local official said.
All six fatalities were killed in the collapse of one of the houses in the town in Oaxaca.
