Drama over Obama presidential center in Chicago as protesters call for more affordable housing
The Chicago Tribune reported that more than 50 members of the Obama Community Benefits Agreement Coalition and ally groups took over a vacant lot in Woodlawn, in the south side of the city, and pitched gray tents, in a message to the mayor about their concerns that homelessness in Chicago could worsen without a community benefits agreement.
“When we talk about violence against black people—and I’m a black person—it’s not just police violence,” Obama CBA Coalition organizer Ebonee Green told the Tribune.
“It’s the violence of displacement. It’s the violence of moving people wholesale and acting as if we do not matter when things come into the community, where we do not have voice, and that we are just replaceable.”

Kshama Sawant, on Thursday, urged protesters to hold strong to the six-block region they’ve designated a “no cop” zone.
Sawant has said she will introduce legislation to convert the precinct into “a community center for restorative justice.”
San Francisco mayor says police will stop responding to non-criminal calls

Breed said in a news release that for calls that don’t involve a threat to public safety, police would be replaced by trained, unarmed professionals to limit unnecessary confrontation between the police department and the community.
The non-criminal calls will include neighbor disputes, reports on homeless people and school discipline interventions, among other activities.
As part of police reforms, San Francisco will also strengthen accountability policies, ban the use of military-grade weapons and divert funding to the African-American community, Breed said.

Tucker: The world welcomes its newest country
Commentary/Opinion:
Vandals are defacing our country. They’re destroying our cities, our institutions, our civil society.
They have no right to do any of that. They don’t own this country. They did not build it. The rest of us should not allow them to wreck it, but we are allowing them and it’s infuriating to watch.

Watchdog group files complaint against Dem who requested PPP loan changes that benefited husband

An ethics watchdog is requesting that Congress investigate Democratic Rep. Susie Lee after accusing her of a conflict of interest in asking the Small Business Administration (SBA) to expand its coronavirus loan eligibility in a way that they say benefited her husband’s business.
Just weeks after Lee’s reported request, SBA changed its criteria on April 28 to include the gaming industry.
Two weeks later, Full House Resorts, of which both Lee and her husband own millions of dollars in stock and options, received a total of $5.6 million in loans — a conflict of interest, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust argued in a complaint it will file on Friday.
New York governor signs police accountability legislation

The measures were approved earlier this week by the state’s Democratic-led Legislature.
Some of the bills had been proposed in years past and failed to win approval, but lawmakers moved with new urgency in the wake of massive, nationwide demonstrations over Floyd’s death at the hands of police in Minneapolis.
Cuomo was joined at the signing ceremony by the Rev. Al Sharpton, Valerie Bell, the mother of Sean Bell, who was killed by an officer in 2006, and Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner, who was killed by police in New York in 2014.
Oregon Gov Temporarily Halts State’s Reopening

Brown, in a prepared statement, described the temporary measure as a “yellow light,” saying that it would remain in place for seven days.
“This one-week pause will give public health experts time to assess what factors are driving the spread of the virus and determine if we need to adjust our approach to reopening,” she said.
Officials have attributed some of the additional cases to the widespread availability of testing, increased contact tracing, active monitoring of cases and recent workplace outbreaks, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Democrats cheering ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests now say Trump rallies pose coronavirus risk

On Monday, U.S. Rep. Val Demings, D-Fla., told her Twitter followers she had joined a “Healing and Hope” rally “to speak with our community as America grieves.”
By Thursday, Demings — considered a possible running mate for Joe Biden — had suddenly changed her tune on mass gatherings.
“The president’s plan to hold mass rallies in Florida and elsewhere as we experience a resurgence in COVID cases is irresponsible and selfish,” Demings remarked, without any reference to her previous comments.

The event is due to take place at 11am on Saturday June 13th on Whitehall – and intends to be a peacefull response to Antifa anarchy and welcomes and all colours, creeds and orientations.
The protest hopes to give a balance to the biased coverage and reaction to the death of criminal thug George Floyd, who left-wing UK Antifa protesters have been using to further their own gains.

‘Hijacked By Extremists’: Boris Johnson Defends Churchill, Says People Should ‘Stay Away’ From Protests

During an eight-part tweet thread posted Friday, Johnson contended that the protests, though sparked by “legitimate feelings of outrage,” have been “hijacked by extremists intent on violence.”
He also suggested that staying away was the “only responsible course of action.”
Calling the statue of former British PM Winston Churchill standing in London’s Parliament Square “a permanent reminder of his achievement in saving this country – and the whole of Europe – from a fascist and racist tyranny,” Johnson decried its vandalism last week as “absurd and shameful.”
Deadly Bomb Explosion Kills At Least Four At Mosque In Kabul

“Explosives placed inside the Shir Shah-E-Suri Mosque exploded during Friday prayers,” an interior ministry spokesman said, adding that the imam of the mosque was also killed, Reuters reported.
Mawlawi Azizullah Mofleh, who served as the imam, was a well-known religious scholar and is the second imam to be killed by an attack this month, according to Voice of America.
Imam Mawlawi Ayaz Niazi was killed in a similar bombing June 2 at the Wazir Mohammad Akbar Khan mosque in downtown Kabul.
A suicide bombing killed 24 people during a police commander’s funeral in May and a similar attack that same day led to the deaths of two new-borns after a hospital maternity wing in Kabul was attacked.

A Brief History of Antifa: Part I

What is Antifa?
Antifa can be described as a transnational insurgency movement that endeavors, often with extreme violence, to subvert liberal democracy, with the aim of replacing global capitalism with communism.
Antifa’s stated long-term objective, both in America and abroad, is to establish a communist world order. In the United States, Antifa’s immediate aim is to bring about the demise of the Trump administration.
Antifa’s nemeses include law enforcement, which is viewed as enforcing the established order.
A common tactic used by Antifa in the United States and Europe is to employ extreme violence and destruction of public and private property to goad the police into a reaction, which then “proves” Antifa’s claim that the government is “fascist.”

Shelby Steele: The Left Is Exploiting America Acknowledging It’s ‘Dark Background,’ ‘Dark History’

“[I]t goes back, I think, to the ’60s,” he explained.
“We had a huge culture war at that time. America did certainly one of the bravest things any nation has ever done.
It admitted to having oppressed blacks and other minorities for centuries. We are still working that out.
I think what we see today on the left are people exploiting that courageous gesture on the part of America by rubbing in our face that we have this dark background, this dark history, that we are denying and not facing into, and they are.
So it’s a struggle for moral authority. They are saying, precisely because they are against America, they have the moral authority to come in and take America over.”
