Disturbing footage shows man, 67, beaten up inside New York City elevator
The incident happened Friday at about 11 p.m. at a building near Southern Boulevard and East 187 Street in the Bronx, according to an NYPD statement, asking for the public’s help in identifying the attacker.
Footage showed both men entering the elevator and the suspect even appeared to be courteous, pressing the button for the victim’s floor.
But moments later, the attacker unleashed a torrent of fists, raining blows on the stunned victim.
Before the suspect left, he used his sleeves to wipe surfaces of the elevator cab, apparently trying to clear any fingerprints he might have left.
Massachusetts man claims two $1M lottery jackpots 18 months apart
The Massachusetts State Lottery said Rolf Rhodes of Mendon bought a $4,000,000 Instant Jackpot scratch-off ticket from the Imperial Gas and County Store in Mendon.
The ticket earned him a $1 million prize, which he chose to claim in the annuity option of 20 annual payments of $50,000.
Rhodes previously scored a $1 million prize from a Hit $1,000 scratch-off ticket May 22, 2018. He took that prize as a $650,000 lump sum before taxes.
At least 11 priests accused of sexually abusing children in Colorado report are still alive. Where are they now?
At least 11 of the 44 men named as predators in a report published Oct. 22 on clergy sexual abuse in Colorado’s Catholic dioceses are still alive.
After leaving or being forced from the priesthood, some men became social workers, religious leaders and counselors.
Others who remain priests are now retired and live in Denver and Pueblo.

Woman Impaled in Car After Metal Bar Falls Off Big Rig on Highway Near Sacramento
KCRA-TV reports the California Highway Patrol says an unidentified big rig was traveling north on Highway 99 Saturday when the bar fell into the roadway.
The CHP says the bar bounced and went through a Chevrolet Impala driving behind the truck. Officials say the bar went through the car’s engine compartment and into the front passenger area, where it struck the woman in the right leg.
Officials say the driver stopped and dialed 911 but the driver of the big rig did not stop.
Pregnant Florida woman uses AR-15 to fend off burglars attacking her family
Jeremy King was at his home in Lithia, 25 miles southeast of Tampa, at 9 p.m. Wednesday night when two armed men, wearing masks and hoods, broke inside.
“As soon as they had got the back door opened, they had a pistol on me and was grabbing my 11-year-old daughter,” King told Bay News 9.
“I’m telling them, ‘I have nothing for you,’ and they’re like, ‘Give me everything you got.’ It became real violent, real fast.”
King said one of the burglars pistol-whipped him and another kicked him in the head, creating a commotion that attracted the attention of his wife,

North Carolina Sanctuary Cities Freed 500 Criminal Illegal Aliens This Year
“Across North Carolina, local authorities refused to honor more than 500 detainers for foreign nationals during Fiscal Year 2019,” ICE officials wrote in a statement.
“All of these detainer refusals are of persons criminally arrested by a law enforcement agency for a criminal offense beyond their violation of federal immigration law.”
As Breitbart News reported, up to 80 percent of criminal illegal aliens freed back into American communities by sanctuary jurisdictions go on to commit more crimes, an ICE official confirmed in congressional testimony.
In one of the most recent cases, sanctuary officials in Buncombe County, North Carolina released a convicted illegal alien child molester from prison instead of handing him over to ICE for deportation.
North Carolina, particularly, suffers from a disproportionately high rate of sex crimes committed by illegal aliens.
Manhunt for two murder suspects who escaped from a California jail
The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office warned the public the men should be considered dangerous and offered a $5,000 reward for information that leads to their arrests, reports CBS Monterey affiliate KION-TV.
The escape from the county’s high security Adult Detention Facility occurred in the early morning, according to the sheriff’s office.
Santos Fonseca, 21, and Jonathan Salazar, 20, had been in custody since 2018 and were awaiting trial on unrelated murder counts “along with numerous other felony charges,” a sheriff’s statement said.

Trump reverses Obama-era policy against faith-based adoption agencies
President Trump administration is being praised by Christian conservatives for defending religious freedom with a newly proposed rule from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that would allow faith-based foster care and adoption services to receive federal funding even if they turn away couples because of their religious beliefs.
The new rule, proposed Thursday, reverses regulations under the Obama administration that required religious organizations to get a waiver in order to apply for an HHS grant, unless they include sexual orientation as a protected trait under anti-discrimination protections.
‘Meet the Press’ asked voters in early primary states about impeachment, saw little support
“We went out and tried to find some voters to talk about impeachment. We had to bring it up to them, here’s what they told us,” host Chuck Todd said before playing the montage Sunday.

Amid repeated chants of “Lock him up!” and “Green New Deal,” Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., issued a full-throated endorsement of Bernie Sanders at a spirited rally in Minneapolis’ Williams Arena on Sunday night, saying a “mass movement of the working class” is needed to take down President Trump and end “Western imperialism,” as she put it.
Even as she accused Trump of “coddling” white supremacy, Omar insisted that Sanders’ proposals — such as free college and government-sponsored health care for everyone, including illegal immigrants — were not “radical.”
“These are values that have been enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for decades,” Omar claimed, referring to the United Nations document.

The Gulf of Guinea is world’s most dangerous piracy hotspot, says the International Maritime Bureau (IMB).
Some 62 seafarers have been captured off the coasts of Nigeria, Guinea, Togo, Benin and Cameroon this year.
Although piracy has decreased worldwide, it continues to rise in Benin and there are fears that the area could emulate Somalia in terms of the threat to shipping.
Iran announces new nuke deal violations during commemoration of 1979 US embassy seizure
In the four years since agreeing to the nuke deal, which was brokered by the Obama administration, Iran has already flaunted its disregard of stockpile and enrichment limitations, all the while hinting to European countries that increased economic aid and additional sanctions relief could persuade leaders to agree to a new deal or come back into compliance with the current one.
Iran’s latest breach of the agreement comes as anti-U.S. protesters shouted “Death to America” and gathered near the location of the former U.S. Embassy in downtown Tehran to mark four decades since the 1979 takeover of the building that resulted in a 444-day hostage crisis.
State television aired footage of celebrations in other cities across the country and Gen. Abdolrahim Mousavi, the commander of the Iranian Army, railed against the U.S. in a speech at the Tehran rally.
Man subdued after biting off ear of pro-democracy politician, stabbing four in Hong Kong mall
Riot police also stormed several malls in Hong Kong in an attempt to limit the pro-democracy protests, as the anti-government movement approaches the five-month mark.
The attack took place at the Cityplaza mall in the Tai Koo district on Hong Kong Island following online messages that urged protesters to meet in seven locations to push forward for political reform.
The unnamed male slasher was subdued by mall passersby following the attack, according to the BBC.
