South Korea president says Trump deserves Nobel Peace Prize
SEOUL (Reuters) – South Korean President Moon Jae-in said U.S. President Donald Trump deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to end the standoff with North Korea over its nuclear weapons program, a South Korean official said on Monday.
“President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize. What we need is only peace,” Moon told a meeting of senior secretaries, according to a presidential Blue House official who briefed media.
Veteran With PTSD Shot At VA Clinic After Pulling Out Knife
An attorney for Negrete said his aggression was allegedly sparked after he showed up to the clinic for treatment and was told to come back later.
Negrete’s court-appointed attorney Christine Kantas Herbert told reporters, “Mr. Negrete returned from combat seeking treatment and was turned away, time and time again…Telling a vet who is experiencing PTSD to come back weeks later when their ‘medication is in’ is not being proactive.”
Negrete — a husband and father of three — is currently in custody with bail set at $265,000 for the incident. He was charged with attempted assault and other charges that happened over the course of three days, including driving under the influence and attempting to elude police.

Vice President Mike Pence is visiting the border in Calexico, California Monday to oversee the building of a border fence.
Mike Pence met with Border Patrol agents and told them that the Trump administration was going to build a wall on the southern border.
He tried to drown himself in a pool, but says police waited too long to help
When he was made assistant manager of a pool in Fairfax, Va., two years ago, Mateusz Fijalkowski spoke barely any English and did not know how to swim.
In the United States from Poland on a summer program, Fijalkowski spent most of his time here hospitalized after nearly drowning in that pool. Now Fijalkowski, 23, is suing the police officers and lifeguard who pulled him out.
Often police are sued for being too aggressive with mentally ill people; in this instance, they are accused of not doing enough to stop a man in the midst of a bipolar episode.

They disrespect those symbols and the people they represent. Five senior class students at Heard County High School in Georgia thought that spray-painting an American flag with “2K18!” would be a good senior prank. It didn’t work out like they thought it would. The outrage was deep.
When it comes cybersecurity scandals, as tough as Congress is on private companies like Equifax and Facebook, you might be surprised to learn that they’ve been quietly dealing with a scandal of their own. Some claim it’s the most important investigation you’ve never heard of in Washington D.C. It involves the FBI, an Inspector General, 42 members of Congress, and five Pakistani American IT workers.
Politics:
Despite increasing threats of a trade war between the Trump Administration and the Chinese government, the Chao family’s ties to the Chinese government do not seem to have cooled. To the contrary, as the 10-ship order suggests, they have accelerated.
Moreover, James Chao was recently in China for an event promoting his new Chinese-language biography. The event was sponsored by Xinhua, the Chinese state-owned media outlet, and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), a branch of the Communist Party known to be active in foreign influence operations. Sponsors praised James Chao as a great promoter of China abroad, referring to him as “vanguard of China-US exchanges.”

The online survey of more than 16,000 registered voters ages 18 to 34 shows their support for Democrats over Republicans for Congress slipped by about 9 percentage points over the past two years, to 46 percent overall. And they increasingly say the Republican Party is a better steward of the economy.
Although nearly two of three young voters polled said they do not like Republican President Donald Trump, their distaste for him does not necessarily extend to all Republicans or translate directly into votes for Democratic congressional candidates.
Ohio’s “America First” congressional candidate, State Rep. Christina Hagan (R), who is running in the state’s 16th district against the Republican establishment, says she will promote a plan once in Congress to “stop sending our dollars overseas.”
Hagen would instead use the money saved to pay retired and armed American veterans and law enforcement officers to guard and protect U.S. schools.

For the past couple of years, Twitter has worked to position itself as news platform rather than simply a micro-blogging platform. In April of 2016, it changed its App Store category from “social networking” to “news.” It has also begun airing live newscasts and highlighting tweets from journalists and media organizations in the “explore” tab. Twitter is also hoping to become a destination for breaking news stories by curating tweets related to current events and major news stories.
DNA search for California serial killer led to wrong man
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Investigators hunting for the so-called Golden State Killer turned to searching genetic websites in 2017 but misidentified an Oregon man as a potential suspect. A year later, after using a similar technique, they are confident they’ve caught the serial rapist and killer who eluded capture for four decades.
In March 2017, an Oregon City police officer, working at the request of investigators in California, convinced a judge to order a 73-year-old man in a nursing home to provide a DNA sample.
Court documents obtained by The Associated Press said detectives used a genetic profile based off DNA from crime scenes linked to the serial killer and compared it to information on a free online genealogical site.
Clinton nonprofit won’t let donor cancel $10.48 monthly contribution: report
A Seattle man who recently sought to end his monthly donation to a Hillary Clinton nonprofit group ran into a small roadblock: There was no way to cancel his contribution, according to a report.
Corey Koscielniak, 29, wanted to stop his $10.48 recurring tithe to Onward Together, the politican action organization Clinton formed after her 2016 election defeat, because the group disclosed little information on how it spent the money, he told the Seattle Times.

As states consider taxing opioids, drugmakers push back
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Facing a rising death toll from drug overdoses, state lawmakers across the country are testing a strategy to boost treatment for opioid addicts: Force drug manufacturers and their distributors to pay for it.
Bills introduced in at least 15 states would impose taxes or fees on prescription painkillers. Several of the measures have bipartisan support and would funnel millions of dollars toward treatment and prevention programs.
In Montana, state Sen. Roger Webb, a Republican, sees the approach as a way to hold drugmakers accountable for an overdose epidemic that in 2016 claimed 42,000 lives in the U.S., a record.

Israel’s prime minister says that his intelligence services have obtained documents proving that Iran maintained a secret nuclear program in violation of a landmark agreement Tehran reached with the West.
Benjamin Netanyahu gave a televised address on Monday evening during which he presented documents allegedly stolen from inside Iran.
US service member killed, another wounded in Afghanistan
One American service member was killed Monday and another was wounded during a combat operation in eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military says.
In a statement, the military added that “several” members of the Afghan security forces were killed or wounded in the operation. The injured U.S. service member was listed in stable condition.
Deputy Foreign Minister Threatens Iran’s Withdrawal From Nuclear Deal
Iranian deputy foreign minister Abbas Araghchi appeared to signal Monday the country’s imminent withdrawal from the nuclear deal negotiated by the Obama administration in 2015.
“The Iran nuclear deal is no longer sustainable for Iran in its present form, without regard to a US exit,” Araghchi stated Monday, according to the Iranian Students News Agency.
People in all 28 member states were asked: “Generally speaking, how successful or not is the integration of most immigrants living in [your country].”
Overall, across the open borders bloc, 55 per cent of people said integration it is going badly and 39 per cent said it had been a success, according to the survey commissioned by the European Union’s (EU) unelected executive branch.
Venezuela boosts minimum wage 155 percent to fight inflation
CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuela’s president says he’s boosting the minimum wage by 155 percent to keep up with runaway inflation that’s making it difficult for people to afford daily goods.
President Nicolas Maduro issued an order Monday that brings the monthly wage to 1 million bolivars, or $1.61 on the commonly used black market. It’s the third increase this year.
Despite having the world’s largest proven oil reserves, Venezuela is in its fifth year of an economic crisis worse than the Great Depression.

A policewoman was allegedly sexually assaulted and her partner beaten with a sign as they arrested a rape suspect.
The pair responded to reports of an attempted rape in Scotland Street, Sheffield, at 3.15am on Friday and were attacked as they arrived.
The man allegedly struck the officers with a wooden sign board, then sexually assaulted one of them as she attempted to arrest him.

THIS IS CNN: Hiring of Suspected Leaker Clapper Raises Ethical Questions
CNN walked away with a prestigious journalism award at Saturday night’s White House Correspondent’s Association dinner for their role in making public a briefing by intelligence officials to then President-elect Donald Trump.
Some are questioning now if this was ethical –a pay for play of sorts –as it raises serious questions about the role and responsibility that U.S. intelligence officials have when taking on paid positions as analysts for news organizations, while still retaining their high-level security clearances. It also raises similar questions about news organizations and their role of remaining objective and not paying their sources.
Time to admit that Trump is doing a good job
There is no doubt that he is ruthless and relentless in his willingness to leverage American power. America has desired outcomes all over the world. Trump has proven to be the best available agent to achieve those outcomes. Here are a few examples:
